Hi Jess, I have come back to this video as I am looking at buying my first autoclave. I start my practical with SMAE this week and I am so excited. Can you tell me how soon after you qualified you got your first autoclave please. I am looking at an enigma 8 which is being sold locally but some have advised to wait until I have done my training.
Hi Janoggy, I have to agree, it's best to wait until you have done your training. If you do buy second hand, make sure (now this is important) that they can give you ALL the service history with it. As you don't want to waste your money x.
Hiya Jess thank you for the vid! Very helpful knowing i can get it by paying monthly! Big bonus! How long is the cycle for this one. I am assuming that as there are 3 trays you can only do 3 sets of tools at one time?. Keep up with the vids they are great to see what I've got ahead of me 🥰🥰 x Sammy x
Hi Sammy, 👋 the cycle takes about 20 minutes, but I think after the first initial cycle the time is less because it doesn't have to warm up.yes it does 3 sets of instruments x x 😀
Hi Jess, do you know the difference between an autoclave and a dry steriliser? I've seen a number of dry sterilisers online which are considerably cheaper than an autoclave, is there a reason why these are not used? I'm looking to start my training with SMAE in April and your channel has already been a huge help to me before I've even started! Thank you in advance!
Hi Janet 👋, the printer prints out all the information about the sterilisation cycle you have just run. eg logs the cycle number, temperature, date, time of cycle, whether it was a successful cycle, various values etc. After each cycle, I jot down the cycle number on my instrument packs which I then write onto my patients notes. 😀
Hi Jess, I am the one who follow to advice as a foot health practitioner and myself I am a qualified beautician who want to work on manicure and pedicure treatments but I don't know if I can find a small autoclave or a small steriliser which can help me to start my business. Do you know where could I find one as you are already work as a professional? Please.

Hi Gareth, from what i've read its to do with the temperature and pressure. Autoclave is Gold Standard/best practice :)

So the cycle number that the Instruments came from would go onto your clients notes x

@@janoggy yes, and also that it has 'passed' the sterilisation process. So if anyone had to look back on your records you have that proof x x

You can type a search in Google the size you want the autoclave. My autoclave is an 8L. Not sure what the smallest size is. Best of luck 👍 x x
