Nice to hear that you're doing well Kevin. I'm also doing the national fleet 21 days out doing dry also. I got to tell you in the 4 years I been working for crete my smallest check ever was 943 dollars but only once. Other than that I'm always 2800 to 3400 miles every week. Last week I had a 2629 miles but that's because I didn't have enough time to enter my last load of 1925 miles to California so from there I got another load drop and hook of course for 2224 miles so this new week is gonna be nice. But is always been like that to me. Thanks to my asset manager Joel he is the man.
That is great to hear!!! Right now Kevin has been getting a feel for things and more clarity on some things, like actually being able to turn down loads if the don't make good sense for time and efficiency. His asset manager actually told him to do that!!! Strangely he has also had a large amount of live loads and unloads. On the website it says company OTR can expect 73% drop and hook. Right now that's almost the percentage of live load or unload on at least one end of a load. He'll be talking to his asset manager about that. Once that is fixed, with the long runs they give him, he should also start getting higher averages above that 3000!!! We are excited about how it is going!!! Unless they recently increased the guaranteed amount for the first 3 weeks it was $1,000 when I started in Feb. I'm on the SE Kimberly Clark dedicated route and I can go home every 6 days or 12 days for 2 days. At first I was doing the 6 days but I wasn't getting the miles I wanted so I started doing 12 days and it works a lot better. I get .53 cpm and average 2100 miles and up a week. They give you plenty of time to make the deliveries with most of them being a drop with a time of 001 to 23:59.

Hey there! It’s an ‘automated manual transmission’. So no shifting required. Kevin runs all over with Crete. As far west as Los Angeles and Seattle and as Far East as New Hampshire. North and South and everything in between. 😃
A friend if mine was that way. "All work, no play" he worked 7 days a week. To NO time off, and only 1/2 day off for Thanksgiving/Christmas. People would tell him, take time of enjoy life a little. He said he worked like that since he was 20 yrs old. He said when he would retire he'd have off everyday and wouldn't have to worry about money. Well, the day came, he retired and the next morning had a heart attack and died. True story. Worked his whole life to have one day off. Like you said Kevin, balance.
In reality, in the small print, most companies tell you that the average is 2200-2500 miles per week. Averaged out over 52 weeks(1 year). That's the reality of it, folks. In the last week of truck driving school, I'll never forget what our most knowledgeable instructor said to our class. 'You'll average 2500 miles per week. Anyone that tells you they're getting 4000-5000 miles a week is doing dope'. Turns out to be a true statement, from what I've seen out on the road.
You might want to check with the company about disclosing salary information. Most companies have a strict non disclosure clause in the employee agreement. Not sure about Crete.
Hmmmmm? Seems to me it’s good news!! Can’t imagine they’d be upset about us telling viewers that we are happy with Kevin’s pay check and how much it is. They know we have a channel. Other drivers talk about their money too. I think they are ethical and transparent. But appreciate your concern.

You are probably ok since Crete does disclose details about pay in advertising, etc. I came from a corporate background from companies that would let people go for just telling another employee what your salary was. But times are changing and there is more transparency nowadays. Good job on all the videos - you guys are rocking it.

But we saw so many videos where drivers disclosed their earnings. That is a lot better tan 900/week, huh. 😁👍🏼 Hopefully they can keep you rolling like that every week. It has been tough for a lot of companies the past month or so to keep drivers rolling in certain areas. It is costing extra to move loads without making up for it because of the rates vs fuel prices. Last week I saw 4 crete trucks parked at the same truckstop fo 4 days, i asked one of the drivers if they were ok and they said they have all been waiting for loads. But that has been for a lot of companies because of the area and not much going out for dry vans. It sucks because a lot of loads coming in but nothing going out and nothing within a reasonable distance to deadhead to.
But look at the huge Backlog of Containers along the West Coast; It's been in the news about that. I Fully Understand That's Intermodal, but that still should leave more than enough Loads For The Dry-Van Sector Out Here. It has to be the Trucking Company Themselves Scaling Back on Loads Because of The Fuel Cost, Etc. Frankly, if their not careful, some of those carriers could go out of business; Especially the smaller Carriers. High Fuel Cost's Are Causing Major Headaches Out Here.
@@jarvisjones9530 yup, trucks and trains can not get containers in and out of the ports fast enough. And now that California pretty much shut down most of the trucks that were doing that, it is going to get worse. Between not having the freight to move and moving the freight for what the shipper wants to pay vs what it costs to move it, it all adds up to freight not moving and trucks sitting.
It depends on the company. The company I drive for wouldn't leave me sitting for 4 days waiting for a load. They would deadhead me as far as needed. I've deadheaded 500 miles to get a load with this company. A truck sitting is losing money.
@@truckingwithj7202 True, but a sitting truck may lose half or less than one that is rolling with no compensation. When you figure at least $1 per mile just for fuel and wear and tear on the truck, it adds up fast. Unless the load you are going to makes up for both traveling to and hauling the load, it is not worth it and may be less expensive to have a driver sit and wait for a load that is closer.
@@Bendigo1 but, at least in my situation, if I am sitting, I am getting paid, I am also more than likely idling the truck. 4 days of me sitting is more than double me driving empty 500 miles.
No issues with Crete carriers,I worked there way back in 1999,the dispatcher I was assigned ,to make a long story short his name was Jason black hair mid 50’s by know,I had issues with him from day one ,I quit after 6 weeks because I was promised that I would get a load by the house to pick up my stuff ,he never did ,so I left the truck at their yard in kc after that he’s been harassing me since by trying to cause me problems today ,I called safety several times to complain about him to no avail,that was my experience with working there 😑

We hear you! Keep watching the videos. You’ll get a good peek at what it’s like driving for Crete. They are not perfect, it’s still trucking after all, but we are very happy with our decision! Kevin is making 50% more than with Werner. We’ll have a video on that in the next few days. If you are looking at the Deland terminal give them a call not sure what accounts they have out of there. Kevin is OTR48 and has to stay out a minimum of 3 weeks for the cpm rate he has. So if you want more home time than that check with Cassidy to see what else they might have out of that area. Yes. 62cpm. That’s OTR States, having to stay out a minimum of 21 days. There had been an additional 2cpm surge pay during pandemic. But that has ended. Crete allows you to do per diem. It would come out of the 62cpm. Kevin decided not to do per diem.
Is Crete Carriers a Publicly Traded Company, or are they Strictly Private? In other words, are they on the Stock Market? If so, are the Company Drivers Given An Opportunity To Become An Investor There? I'm just curious about that. Thanks. Stay Safe Out There Truckers. ☺
Crete is privately owned so no publicly traded stock. They are a profit sharing company. All employees with one year or more employment receive a portion of the profit which is put in to their 401k retirement fund. Last year Crete shared $16 million in profit with the employees. Your distribution is based on years of service plus your past years wages. I have 14 years with them and last year’s share was $6 thousand or so. It really helps your retirement grow.
Kevin does 21 days out as a minimum. He gets one day home time for every six days out. So if he goes 24 days he gets four days. The have different options. You’d need to speak with a recruiter to see what’s available in your area. The number is in description. Good luck.
You can turn down loads that are ‘unproductive.’ And, yes, you can determine your drive/sleep schedule. We do! Kevin likes to finish at a reasonable time and generally starts at 6am.

No. Kevin prefers daytime. You set your own schedule and work with your asset manager, letting them understand how you like to run. We know other drivers who like to drive at night and that’s possible too if you want to run like that. It’s up to you. 😃

The short version: Yes after 6 months but then with a trainer. Yes after 8 months of coming from certain companies and then no trainer. Yes after a year and then no trainer. Details tomorrow.

Thanks for your concern. We’ve met lots of drivers who have been with Crete a long time without becoming trainers. They don’t take rookies, so they don’t need a lot of trainers like Werner does for example.

It depends on the company. The company I drive for wouldn't leave me sitting for 4 days waiting for a load. They would deadhead me as far as needed. I've deadheaded 500 miles to get a load with this company. A truck sitting is losing money.
@@truckingwithj7202 True, but a sitting truck may lose half or less than one that is rolling with no compensation. When you figure at least $1 per mile just for fuel and wear and tear on the truck, it adds up fast. Unless the load you are going to makes up for both traveling to and hauling the load, it is not worth it and may be less expensive to have a driver sit and wait for a load that is closer.
@@Bendigo1 but, at least in my situation, if I am sitting, I am getting paid, I am also more than likely idling the truck. 4 days of me sitting is more than double me driving empty 500 miles.
No issues with Crete carriers,I worked there way back in 1999,the dispatcher I was assigned ,to make a long story short his name was Jason black hair mid 50’s by know,I had issues with him from day one ,I quit after 6 weeks because I was promised that I would get a load by the house to pick up my stuff ,he never did ,so I left the truck at their yard in kc after that he’s been harassing me since by trying to cause me problems today ,I called safety several times to complain about him to no avail,that was my experience with working there 😑

So u get .62cpm is that plus per diem or can u get per diem also?
Yes. 62cpm. That’s OTR States, having to stay out a minimum of 21 days. There had been an additional 2cpm surge pay during pandemic. But that has ended. Crete allows you to do per diem. It would come out of the 62cpm. Kevin decided not to do per diem.

Crete is privately owned so no publicly traded stock. They are a profit sharing company. All employees with one year or more employment receive a portion of the profit which is put in to their 401k retirement fund. Last year Crete shared $16 million in profit with the employees. Your distribution is based on years of service plus your past years wages. I have 14 years with them and last year’s share was $6 thousand or so. It really helps your retirement grow.

What’s the home time option for Crete, like how many days out V
Kevin does 21 days out as a minimum. He gets one day home time for every six days out. So if he goes 24 days he gets four days. The have different options. You’d need to speak with a recruiter to see what’s available in your area. The number is in description. Good luck.

Do they do forced dispatch/ let you drive on the same drive sleep schedule everyday?
You can turn down loads that are ‘unproductive.’ And, yes, you can determine your drive/sleep schedule. We do! Kevin likes to finish at a reasonable time and generally starts at 6am.

How old is the equipment, I mean what year and models are the trucks? And on your paychecks how much they deduct.
Generally 2019 and younger. Freightliners mostly. Some KW. They deduct basics but you choose some of it. Like healthcare and 401K contributions. 😃

Is it a lot of night driving?
No. Kevin prefers daytime. You set your own schedule and work with your asset manager, letting them understand how you like to run. We know other drivers who like to drive at night and that’s possible too if you want to run like that. It’s up to you. 😃

Thanks for your concern. We’ve met lots of drivers who have been with Crete a long time without becoming trainers. They don’t take rookies, so they don’t need a lot of trainers like Werner does for example.
