- Dweezil Zappa came by to play show and tell with another one of Rock's most iconic instruments. The guitar is known now as the "Rasta Guitar" that was formerly owned by Eddie Van Halen, and played on one of the most famous tours and records at the heyday of Van Halen's popularity and history. DWEEZIL is just one of the nicest guys ever, I text him regularly on his website and he ALWAYS responds, I wish the same could be said for other celebrity players.
I love how Dweezil only refers to Eddie as "Edward" due to the respect he has for him.
Dweezil Zappa is a nice guy.

Actually Dweezil has known EVH most of his life. Eddie taught Dweezil how to play Eruption when Dweezil was in his teens. Look up Dweezil's rendition, it's perfectly note for note!

In those days, folks were really anticipating the next Van Halen album. And when Fair Warning issued - it was immediately a crown jewel - I still crank up some of those tunes and have the same feeling for the music as when it was released. A true classic.

Ever since 1966 I’ve been the Biggest Frank Zappa Fan !!!! I own every official release and saw him play at Every Halloween Show and then some !!!! Was at the filming of Baby Snakes and have a bunch of photos I took (before he let his hair down) !!
In 1966 I’d already had been playing guitar for six years, although you wouldn’t know it !!
When I saw my first ZPZ Show, I Cried !!!! Dweezil is such a Gifted Guitarist !!!
His Dad would be very proud !!

Having Frank as you’re dad must have it’s advantages. And the fact that’s he’s a turbo cool guy helps.

As a kid i had a Yamaha 12 string in a case with Southern Comfort vomit from a gig at the old Emergency on P street in DC. I had managed to forget that.

Ive only seen a couple pics of Eddie with his signature Red, White, Black stripe guitar with some Yellow stripes and always wondered what he named that guitar. I couldnt find it anywhere. After seeing this, I guess it was before the Rasta guitar was completed.

If you heard VH I when it was released or soon after you'd have to agree.
Dweezil only received the body. The guitar was given a new neck, a matching headstock, new GOLD SCHALLER Lic. Floyd Rose, Neck Plate and New custom Cavity plate. All work is done by GMW Guitar Works.
I have a RUDE. Bought off FB. Looks pretty good. I just bought it because I have the EVH Circles guitar. 81’ Tour 🤘lucky guy. He is cool.

Aww......and I always loved that guitar!! That was one of my favourites (Unchained Strat). I hoped that the story of this being repainted was a legend or that Eddie painted another guitar that way but sadly this is the Van Halen "Barf Guitar"!! 😖😖😖

Dimarzio X2N, mahogany body (early photo shows it unpainted laying flat on the floor, the one with is other guitars including the étrange yellow polygonal sandoval guitar, around VH1 or 2 era )

cosy1234 I agree but Zappa also kinda treats it as no big deal, like he found it lying around in his guitar collection so it doesn’t mean nearly as much to his as it would Lemmo

It's a shame that the Van Hagar years/songs won't be done on stage again. I was 15 when Dave left Van Halen but when I was 16 5150 came out, I had my licence, a car and attended that tour April 22nd (Valerie's birthday)1986 in Chicago. 5150 Will always be a special album for me.

@@pasqualeporpora definitely correct....DiMarzio's didn't/don't have glossy bobbins and chrome rails, an X2N would have black rails and matte bobbins.

Pickup is most likely a DiMarzio X2N. But Ibanez also made a version that looked the same, as well as Schaller too

Dweezil is the dude. And his father God rest his soul is the king of guitar. Nobody could do it like Frank Zappa I love Edward Van Halen no disrespect to him but I put him up there with Steve Vai & dweezil. But my Mount Rushmore is Robert Fripp John mcglaughlin Allan holdsworth a m d the king zappa . Now my runner up or Alex lifeson & Steve Howe an a. Belew . That have to say as in terms of shredders dweezil Zappa and Steve vai are just as good as Eddy.
Now the most soulful guitar have ever heard is Jimi Hendrix And Stevie Ray Vaughan.
