Hiiii again!! 😃... OmaGosh!! I followed what you said and my hems came out perfect AND invisible!!! I am so doggone proud!!! 🦚🤩🧵...My niece L😍VED her pants! They were hemmed awesomely if may say so myself! Everyone said it looked professional!!! Thank YOU a gazillion times over!!!! 🤗🥰🤩🥳..Many blessings to you!!!
I had the same issue. Like waiiittt 😆. But go to your settings and select a slower playback speed. That's how I was able catch on to her techniques better. I hope this helps.
Thank you so much! I have a pair of pants I really love and the hem of one of the legs fell down and I had no idea how to fix it... If I had a similar color thread I think it would've been better but I sewed it up like this and you can barely tell from far away which is the goal! It was so easy to follow along with the video ❤️
I like that your video was quick and to the point. I noticed a lot of people saying you went too fast. I disagree. They can slow the video down if they want to. Or watch twice

Thank you so much! I was having difficulty doing the slip stitch but when I saw your video tutorial, it was so much easy than I expected! Thank you, I can now pass my stitches project for my exam! ❤
I like your clips, but they sometimes fly by too fast. For example, when you're talking about folding back the hem allowance to hide knots or perform some part of a stitch, it can be so confusing. That double fold thing is tricky. You tend to roll back the folds too fast! With things upside down, inside out (as hems are) people get dizzy; especially if they're new to sewing. Would be helpful to do things like that more slowly. I get that the idea is to convey how quick and easy it is, but it's really only quick and easy if you've been doing it for ages. Many people might need reminding what a hem allowance actually is etc. But thank you for the clip!
It's perfect as-is. That's what the pause and rewind buttons are for on RUclips (and the setting that allows you to play back videos at different speeds). ;)
I agree the slide style transition from clip to clip isn't helping since the movement is a bit distracting and takes away from how the stitch should be done in repetition.
Not enough info? She shows you, step by step, what to do - and what to look for. When you say "someone like me", are you referring to people who don't like using the pause button? Nothing's stopping you from replaying it over and over. (That's how I learned how to cut up a whole chicken.)
Hi I just wanted to let you know that in this same channel where there's a lady in the video that slowly explains to stitch a little more see also explains several stitches but it includes this one and I think it has something in the title like Couture finishing stitches but she explains it slowly a little bit slower you could go back on the video as well.
Agreed she went too quickly for complete beginners. Also agreed the other lady on this channel explaining several stitches does a much better job, very professional..she has glasses and wears a light blue jacket - I didn't have to pause or rewind her video.
Ok. Update. A few things to know. 1 - Have thread on hand. Fishing line is "apparently" not a suitable replacement. 2 - It will probably, more than likely NOT look professional the first (or second) time you do it. 3 - Maybe ask another physical human, who is aware how this is supposed to go to possibly supervise you and/or help, for a quicker completion time. All in all. I did it, it's holding, it looks like I used a stapler and a fork to do it but it's HOLDING. Thank you
omg I am new to sewing and for my home ec class and we had to get this down for hmw so I am soo glad I stumbled on this video btw this video kinda sucks low key but all well at least I got it down my home ec teacher was super impressed so in a way thank u!! lmao
“Hem allowance fold????” It’d be nice if ya started with a few basics, like WTF is a hem allowance fold...THEN explained the technique. Remember, we’re watching your video cause we do not know what we’re doin.
+Christian Thomas - ruclips.net/video/6Mte8zG-ezI/видео.html This video is about seam allowance but you can take the same idea and apply it to the hem at the bottom.
I know this is 2 yrs old & in the event you haven't found the answers you are looking for here goes: The Hem is the bottom most edge of your garment i.e the bottom of your pant legs or skirt. The Hem Allowance provides the excess fabric required to create a clean finished look. The Hem line is where you want the garment to fall like exactly at your ankles, your Hem Allowance is longer than that point so that you can fold up the raw edges to hide them on the inside of the garment. In trousers this may be a double fold up to the Hem line & the two hand stitches shown is this video is how to finish the Hem for a clean look. I hope this is helpful.
Thanks so VERY MUCH! You saved me 🌈🤩🙌🏻. My niece wants me to alter and hem her striped pants! I am so nervous about messing them up. This is sooooo handy!!! Wish me Luck!! 🤞🏻🙏🏻🍀🧵👖...You made it look pretty goshdarn easy!!! Take care and have a blessed and wonderful holiday season!! 🦃❄️🎄Be safe 😷!
I have a question. I am not that great at hand sewing for a professional look. I press large patches on denim and wool varsity jackets, but I’d like to sew them on where they look professional. Can I do this by hand with such thick materials? If I cannot, what type of machine would I need taking into consideration how bulky sewing the back of a jacket would be? I’m just visualizing. I have no clue. Thank you!
Hi Stephanie, I'd be worried that hand sewing through the thick materials would be quite difficult. You'd need a larger needle and a thimble, at the very least, and even then it would probably be quite a struggle. Machine stitching would work much better. You wouldn't need any special machine, any home-sewing machine should do the trick, as long as it's well-made. You can straight stitch the perimeter of the patches, or use a zigzag stitch. If you decrease the stitch length of a zigzag so the threads lay right next to each other and completely cover the fabric beneath them, it's called a satin stitch, and is a popular method for attaching patches. If you plan to use the sewing machine for more sewing projects in the future, you might invest in something with more features. But Brother makes some good lower-priced models that are good starter machines. I used the Brother CS6000i for quite a while, before I upgraded to my Pfaff Passport 2.0. If you can go into a machine dealer and test drive some of the machines, it always helps with making the decision. Hope this helps! Best, Nicki
@@CraftsyRUclips I looked up your machine on Amazon. So if I’m seeing a 10 inch patch on the back of a wool varsity jacket, it will fit under the needle and the back won’t bunch up?
I'm just learning, but the second one seems to be only by pulling through single threads in the garment while the slip stitch alternates between single thread and going into the hem allowance fold.
I work on the Las Vegas Strip for a show. I did this and the head of wardrobe tore it out. She did one I had never seen before. Granted, it will rip out immediately but performers have seamstresses at their disposal so if it needs to be put back in, she's there. Rough.

yes,too fast for beginners like me
🤣🤣 yuh know
Nice video but it was kinda too quick for me. Wish you slowed down a little specially around the part where you double fold the fabric
couldn’t even figure out how to tie the knot after a million tries 😭
Yesssss,, Sameeeee, too fast for me in the part of folding
hehe. Replay/slowmo.
can slowdown just tap the playback speed
Top right corner, Click playback speed and choose slower
Instruction unclear, i am crying at 1:30 am with multiple pokes and mental break downs, also pretty sure i had sewn my dogs eyes shut.
Devy Moore WHAT HOW I hope you are lying about the dog part
Ratatata agreed O-O

Learned how to do this for the first time today, watching this video will help me practice. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Way too fast. Not enough info. Maybe good for someone who already knows the stitch. But for someone like me trying to learn it was totally useless.

Thanx for sharing,nd work, presentation is fabulous,i m a fashion designer so i easily understand how yr work is perfect. . . .
What's the word she keeps using after the word "hem"? Is it "allowance"?
Learned to sew in elementary. This is a great refresher
I do have to agree with the other comments. It was a little too fast. But you could also have changed the playback speed. Trust me, it really helps.
Shouldn't have to change the playback speed though. The issue is the teacher. Others comments testify to this.
The first one is what I'm going to attempt using to fix my pant leg thank you ever so much ❤
You got this! Did it work?
Very clearly explained, just what I needed to learn today! Thanks :)
Right? She just made it simple and easy to understand. Now I have to put this knowledge into motion, wish me luck

Great tip for invisible hem. Thanks so much.😊
This dad thanks you. Nice and easy to follow, but only if I had a better attention span for sewing. haha
This is greatly helpful. At almost 70 years of age I found I really need this basic info . and will try it. Now where to get thread and needle....
When it looks that easy.....it deffo isn't! Nice vid 👌🏻

Sewing machines are not very expensive. My idea is you should buy a good one so you can deal with thick fabrics.
Your explanation style is so cute!! Keep making videos and thanks ❤️
Great tutorial..totally Awesome
So the blind stitch means there is no hole on the outer side ?
It's very useful tutorial video. Thank you so much ❤.
Very helpful! Thanks!
Is there another name for the blind hem stitch? It looks like catch stitch.
Beginner here… pointing out that fabric needs to be ironed in place to easily do this..
Thanks for the tips
so the two stitches are the same basically?
can someone please explain the difference, if any, in the steps of the two please??
I'm just learning, but the second one seems to be only by pulling through single threads in the garment while the slip stitch alternates between single thread and going into the hem allowance fold.

What size niddle are u using
Does anyone know what type of needle ?
I came here to find sewing advice but instead I found love at first sight 😍😂

Beautiful thank you for sharing
what's the difference between the two stitches?
THANK YOU FOR THIS VID
I EASILY GET IT 🥰💙
Can you do more videos for hand sticting pls
Just what i was lookx for..tk u ma'am
U made it look so easy
Thank you for showing me how to do this! 😀
Great video! Looks like I won't have to go to a seamstress to get this done to shorten/hem my kilt since the drop is too long.
how do you make that first knot?
thank you! finally i understand how to do a blind hem!
Thanks so much!!

I like how the sewing knot was made and his inside the fabric. It was done so fast asnd it is a blur in my mind
Easy demonstration.
Thanks a lot.
Now my mom is helping me
how about just show the stitching without cutting the video and going clip to clip ....
what are the prereqs for this video?
It really nice
Il just ask my grandma to sew my pants
I just ripped my pants and youtube recommended me this wth
This is easy... Theres another easiest way to easily lock each stitch
Thanks
Everybody does this on a seam. Would like to see one where it’s just a hole.
what kind of person would dislike this???
smh right
haters bro haters. you already know
Did you just respond to yourself?
