I loved seeing this planner / scrapbook / doodle journal. So much inspiration. I don't know how you take random bits of paper, clothing tags, and produce labels combined with doodles and vintage stuff and make sure wonderful pages, but you do it! 😀 So creative!
This is fantastic. I have been keeping collage journals since 2009 and love to look back on what I have done and how I chose to represent it. I continue adding to the pages even years later if a "find" really works. Thanks for showing and explaining this.

Gina, our daughter, age 39, decided to coach her daughters little girl soccer team (4 year olds!)!!! They are the Damsel Flies! She has 5 girls to coach. She played soccer and baseball from age 10 to 18. Glad she will get passing on her expertise.
I was sent to your channel by Liz Drake, SUGAR. She said we would love it and I do! I am very much inspired whenever I see so many colorful pages full of random stuff. I have books I can do this with and cannot wait to get started. I have difficulty writing due to an old hand injury but if I am patient and take my time I can do it. 7:30. If anyone is wondering why it’s so hard to lose weight. It’s because we fool ourselves into believing we are doing healthy things. “Went to an apple orchard. Got some donuts.” Great planner. I left mine because it was becoming too negative. But it was great to look back on and see what was going on. Perhaps I’ll get into it again and learn to post extra minimally about negative things.
Try making it a gratitude journal... that will keep the negative things under control. I know that it is hard not to use your journal to vent, but I like what she did about writing over the stuff that helped her do that and then when it was out of her system she just covered it up with pretty! Good Luck!

Do you just do every other one or just randomly take out a bunch? Would love to see a video of you getting one of these books prepared from the very beginning. I love your journal process videos!! Beginning is sometimes the toughest part. That's why I always love to start with a page that stuff already on it. No blank white pages for me ...too scary. xoox- gina
Love this altered book, I love how the illustration from the book just blends into your journal. I bought a vintage children book and will do the same. Do you pull out some of the pages before you start working on this book?
Hi Cheryl! Great question...this book's pages were already thick and sturdy. I didn't glue them together, I just glued my collage stuff right on top. For flat paper you want to use a drier glue. The watery it is, the more your papers will warp. I have ironed papers before - low setting, and I place a pillowcase over the paper to prevent burning. Hope this answer your question. I like to glue my pages together to make them thicker then I add a think layer of gesso. Sometimes I just begin creating art or writing directly over the original text and pictures. I like the layered effect it creates. thanks for watching!!
Hi! My altered book planners consist of 2 page monthly spreads. I create a grid for the month then fill in the days with daily stuff and art as I go. By the time the month is over - the page is pretty full with lots of stuff from the month. Thank you for your question. xoxo- gina
Hi, do you prep your pages or just write over them? I would love to do this sort of thing, but the book I want to use has very dark typeface. I've covered some pages with other paper, but this will bulk out the book too much if I do this the whole way through. I love your journal, it's amazing.
Hey there, Mandy! Thank you and great question...you are right, covering each page with paper will make your book really bulky. Tissue paper is a good alternative. It is light and semi-transparent. You could do a light wash over each page with gesso or another light colored (white based) paint. Or, you could go the opposite and use dark paint to cover up the text. I love to just doodle with paint pens over the text until you can barely tell there is anything behind it. I don't always prep my pages. I just depends on what I'm going to do with them.
