I cannot thank you enough for sharing your vast knowledge. I think I may be addicted to your videos. Funny thing is I don't even know anything about fashion, lol. Thank you so so much, Fiona
Your gift is teaching! One of the most great teachers i've stumbled upon on the internet! Keep it up, i learned so much from you already! Thank you Zoe!
I could listen to you forever:). Anyhow, I think it's a great idea that you're showing different things to render a certain fabric. That makes it easier for those trying to learn, because they can clearly see the different possibilities (different ways of rendering it), and they can find what is the most natural or easiest way for them to do it. Plus, sequins do come in different textures and sizes, I've never really thought about it, but yes sequins can be very different. I love how you explain all the details, things I would never though of myself but that make all the difference. I've never taught about light source as something important in fashion illustration, but it is!
I have been following your videos starting from the oldest and there is surely no other person doing what you are.. I can't be more thankful to you for all your teachings Zoe! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Dude you are amazing! I've been watching your videos for a month now and you have already taught me so much! Such a godsend because college was too expensive this semester and I still wanted to grow in my craft!
Thank you for showing this. Even though I got my degrees from F.I.T. I always just added colored glitter to show sequins and a few half circles with a tiny few sparkle crosses here and there, especially if there is a pattern to it. For years I was never fully satisfied with my rendering of it. I like your method. I think from now on I will mix a little of my old method with your style of rendering sequins. Again, thank you. This is so good. :)
can i just say.. i so love your tutorials.. and Everytime i look at to see how long. ..lol but i love your realistic.. professional...and funny teaching methods... keep it going.. we love yah
Zoe I can listen to you talking all day long. Please don't cut out or fast forward your talking part!! You are so funny and entertaining!! Love it!! Big fan!!
+ana escobar Thank you! You can always submit requests in the comments section of my videos, just like you did. I have had requests on drawing folds/drapes from a long time ago so it's been in the queue. I have 2 videos planned and they'll be out in June and July.
hi zoe....i really luv ur tutorials....but thers's a request. i am a begginer n i just learned how 2 draw fashion figures.....so can u tell me which tutorial 2 watch first 2 get started with fashion designing....i really x know cuz i am a science student but i luv fashion designing.. and i also need 2 know what kind of supplies i am gonna need?
I love your videos and am always looking for techniques to apply to the field I work in : BRIDAL what about white sequins ? On all white fabrics ? I really struggle with adding details to my drawings without muddying them. I'd love a recap, short video of the different techniques of illustrating on all white garments. Pretty please !
All my illustration videos apply to all white fabrics. You simply have to pick different white color media. Look at photos of white sequin dresses. Really pay attention to the colors. You know you can see darker white/cream/ivory shadows and even darker shadows and only the highlights are pure white. Use opaque media like gouache to layer lighter colors on top of darkers, like any other color scheme. Good luck!
I haven't gone through all your tutorials yet. Is there a video on how to draw (or predict) creases and folds on different fabrics? If not, can you add it to your request list?
There are shades of black. A lot of marker companies have a regular black and a special black. You can check out my Black Markers video in my Different Media playlist.
Oh Ok, no problem. Quick question then, what are your rules on outlining? Is it necessary? Do I outline in black or just a darker shade of the base color? I always feel the need to outline the finished garment in black, but when I do it almost has a cartoony look. What do you usually do?
For sequins? Yes, the second video is linked in the infobox above. In general? I have a video called "intro to Paints for Fashion Designers & Illustrators" in my "Different Media" playlist. And I do almost all my texture rendering tutorials in gouache too.
+Waltz Lion Hahahaha! Yes, I sing and hum and make funny noises in class. Sometimes if I don't do it for a while, my students ask me if something's wrong. haha
no offence but you don't need to worry about us losing our attention when your drawing but i tend to nod off or do something else when you talk for 4 minutes in the begining. again no offence but we clicked on the video so you can teach us so i normally just skip ahead.love the way you teach.
I’m not a fashion student or designer but went to fine art school years ago, and love these instructional videos. So much fun. I miss making art.
Thank you so much! these are the best tutorials online, I wish my teachers would have been this good!

I love your sense of humor and the amount of good info in your videos.
IT WAS A NICEE DISPLAY OF SEQUINS TO SHOW GAUDINESS IN THE FABRIC
I'm not into fashion but I love your videos. Watching you draw is so relaxing. Your lines are so fine and every move shows those years of practice.

how do you draw a black sequin fabric? because the fabric underneath is black so you can’t have darker shades of that
There are shades of black. A lot of marker companies have a regular black and a special black. You can check out my Black Markers video in my Different Media playlist.
Hi Zoe,
I'm really new to this but I drew a sequin skirt that I'd like you to take a look at if you have time. How do I send or post it?
I don't do private critique anymore.
Oh Ok, no problem. Quick question then, what are your rules on outlining? Is it necessary? Do I outline in black or just a darker shade of the base color? I always feel the need to outline the finished garment in black, but when I do it almost has a cartoony look. What do you usually do?

Great video as always 😋 One tip for almost dry markers: 90% 😁 Just a few drops and it will be as new (just for prisma and letraset markers)
90% alcohol
+Akis T Sometimes I'll set aside dry-ish markers for texture work but I'll definitely try your trick! Thank you!
+Zoe Hong Search it in youtube! I think the video title is don't throw your markers or something :))
+Akis T Ok :)
