Brilliant, thanks! I started growing some citrus from seeds a few months ago, just for fun (I have Asperger's and growing plants is something that I get a great deal of enjoyment from)! I labelled the four plants but whilst moving, all the labels became detached and one plant died :( but I had no idea if I was left with 2 x oranges and 1 lemon or vice versa. Your wonderful video helped me identify them in a heartbeat! I have 2 x lemons and 1 x orange. Of course, I have no idea if they will ever flower or fruit, but that'll just be a bonus if it happens, as I actually like the trees themselves. Keep up the excellent work. #Subscribed. thank you . i recently came to a video grow lemon trees from leaves, so i went to the grocer and purchased leaves when i got home i opened package and huge leaves segmented leaves i didnt think they are lemons by the looks ill let you know if they rooted anyways in two months so thank you might just get a grapefruit tree or pomelo
25 years ago I got three seedlings: an orange, a tangerine, and a lemon. Only one is still alive at this point. I knew which one was the lemon, because it bloomed and bore fruit. The one survivor is either the orange or the tangerine, but has never bloomed or borne fruit. It may not matter, but I would like to know which one I have.

So glad I saw your question about the smell of the leaves. Yes, the leaves of an orange tree smells like oranges. If you just squeeze /rub the leaf you will get that fabulous orange aroma. My mother would take a leaf from the orange tree and cook it along with oatmeal for breakfast and I just loved it. It tastes real good. I stated growing a lemon and an orange tree from the seeds from store bought. Once the seeds rooted I just put them in a pot together last June 2021 and it's growing Ike crazy. I just transplanted the tree into a larger container as it had gotten potbound. I am growing this indoors and it's doing great. My only mistake is in planting BOTH LEMON AND ORANGE SEEDS TOGETHER, BUT THE PLANT IS NOT COMPLAINING.... I MIGHT SEPARATE THEM IF NEEDED. I'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. THIS VIDEO IS ON TARGET WITH THE INFORMATION GIVEN.
@@zulmabontiffe487 I did the same LOL 3 years ago, just few different lemon and mandarin seeds from store bought fruits. 4 grew so far, about 4' in height but not very bushy (just few side branches). I can't tell the difference, except like you, I rubbed the leaves and one smells strongly of lemon while the other 2 not so much, and one has thorns :-) Good luck with yours!

I was silly and bought a set of three citrus trees, and didn't mark them (!! . my bad!!) and now one of them has died, so I am trying to figure out what the ones that are alive are. I love this video and it is a big help!! I recognized the grapefruit leaf as I have been able to sprout those from seed...but anyway, thank you for making this video!!
From the Caribbean island of Antigua l am still having difficulty identifying my citrus. I bought a grapefruit tree a few years ago and planted seeds from it's fruit. The leaves of the young plants look similar but the stems has thorns which the mother plant do not have I also bought a tangerine tree. I got just a few fruits the first and second time it bore. The third time the tree produced all lemons and is loaded right now. Why?
Now I know the plant that I have is most probably a lemon. Some seeds may have landed in my garden on the way to the garbage disposal. The leaves are as what you described. And they smell heavenly when crushed. I do not think the tree will bear fruit (lemons do not grow in the Philippines?) so I am using the leaves instead as infusion to my drink. It gives a nice flavor to my gin or rhum mix😃
Thanks so much now I know I have a leamon tree. Only 3 years old. How long a leamon takes to produce fruit and do I need another leamon plant for pollination.
I have had a lemon tree that is now in it's 2nd fruiting season. We nipped all buds and early fruit first time round so that none came close to maturity. The harvest in the 2nd season in unbelievable. Large (baseball sized), sweet and very juicy lemons. Didn't plant the tree intentionally but tended it as soon as I saw it as a sapling maybe a year old. First fruit came about 6;years later, proper harvest (current) 7 years. I'm in Kenya with tropical climes and I suspect the recent floods have been kind to my lemons.

Those were the very first seeds I planted! And I did not know the importance of marking which seee was what... 7 months later, here I am... Jejeje lol
I have Calamandorin/dwarf lime, Lemon, Bitter orange & mandarin orange, my mom throw random seeds in our backyard. Its difficult to determine.😯

I had never seen a grapefruit, palmelo, or centenial orange leaf.
Still don’t know the difference between lime and lemon but this video was very informative. Now I have narrowed down my plant to an orange or a lime.
It could very well be a hybrid a blend between both. Like a Myers Lemon 🍋

What type of soil do you suggest that I use for the citrus trees? Hopefully I do not have to mix it myself.
In Florida we have sandy and clay soil.
