I can tell you it is definitely NOT like " towing a bag of marshmallows down the road" unless you want to see that bag scatter all over the interstate. This thing fishtales like crazy when you get above 57 mph. Which means if you're towing cross country you better set your cruise control at 57 and hope you're not in a hurry. I don't know if it's the articulating hitch or what but it's one of the worst trailers I've ever pulled on the interstate... and Im a roofer who has pulled thousands of dump trailers full of shingles. Camping it's supposed to be relaxing but you'll be white knuckling it all the way to your destination and all the way home. I bought a sway bar and hitch on Amazon hoping that will help. This guy is a typical smooth-talking salesman. The thing is definitely not worth the 60k sticker price. The king-size mattress is hard as a rock so you'll have to invest in a foam topper or three. Also the awning is very cheap and flimsy, requires a hand crank. My Coleman, which cost a quarter of the price even had an electric awning. The stereo is also very cheap. Overall from my perspective, I have a very bad case of buyer's remorse. If I had to do it over again I would have bought an Airstream.
Most off-road capable vehicles will be at or near their maximum towing capacity with this trailer and may even require a weight distribution hitch. The Jeep Gladiator comes to mind as Jeep recommends weight distribution for anything over 2,000 lbs. What provisions are there for a weight distribution hitch for the highway miles needed to get to the fun off-road trails?
Love to see a trailer review by someone 6'4"!! Im 6'5" and all the reviews are always very deceiving to me! when done by a smaller person! Love this trailer!
Great rig and leaning this way very much. If I could have a wish list item though: Any thoughts of adding composting toilet as option and including air compressor with hose as Zone does, and propane component as part of smoke/CO detector?
There’s a video with the taxa mantis...He goes through the pluses and minuses, and it sounds like the tax it has a lot of leaking problems. Would be curious if that’s an issue with this unit.
Need a wider lens for the inside shots. It’s hard to get a good perspective of the interior with the tight lens. Plus, you didn’t show the inside of the extra space in the back with the fold out panels.
My assumption for the space in the back is the king mattress slides back from it's travel spot over the counter and seating area. Agree that more shots of that would have been beneficial.
I have a few question. This pertains to an OP15 with 3 BattleBorn Batteries. 1. If I remember correctly the air conditioning unit on top is a Dometic Penguin II 13,500 BTU that runs off 115V and also 12V but primarily 115V. What is the inverter installed in the OP15 (if the inverter varies based on batteries installed then I’m just interested in the inverter installed with BB Lithium batteries). 2. Is there some kind of soft start or Micro Air Easy Start installed on the Dometic Air Conditioner? 3. What is the typical current pulled by the Dometic Air Conditioner during normal use (say ambient is low to mid 80’s Fahreneit and attempting to bring the space down a solid 10-12 degrees Fahrenheit to 70-72F). What is the typical current on a very hot day 90F+while trying to cool down as fast as possible? 4. On the control panel there is a battery capacity gauge. Because Lithium Iron Phosphate has such a flat charge/discharge curve, reading voltage does not provide an accurate SOC measurement between 20% and 80%. I’m guessing the “fuel gauge” and its percentage is for the AGM batteries and is not accurate for LiFeP04 like a coloumb meter with a shunt on the negative battery cable would be? 5. Is there a factory option for having a battery monitor with a shunt installed installed prior to delivery? 6. Does the voltmeter/ammeter only show current leaving the battery? Is the ammeter only a single digit followed by two digits after the decimal (x.xx) or can it convert to two digits with just a third digit after the decimal (xx.x)? I think that’s all. Thanks!
I am looking for more technical info on the electrical system. For example, what is the highest amp load it can handle and how long, without sun, can it go with average electrical usage?
Awesome overlanding camper Would like to see some kind of batwing awning system, that would also cover the dometic fridge/freezer, and maybe a lithium ion battery option.
I have a 2021 opus 15. I was camping last weekend and my power step, exhaust fans in bathroom & outlets now do not work. Can you give me some trouble shooting ideas. I live 2 hours from the nearest dealer to repair. thank you
Um, you're confusing width with length, and you should give both (I assume it's about 7' wide). The bed area seems to lack any insulation judging from how flimsy the rood looked. Other than that, I could live in this full time, and while I prefer an inside kitchen, I'd be OK with going outside to make my morning coffee!
What is (or can be added) in place to block heavier winds while cooking/prepping. There aren’t many resources on the 15 that show the full use of the wraparound awning-type accessory. Can it be used (in clement weather) as a moderate shelter for additional cot or two outside on the shower side?
I just want something small enough to be barely more obstructive then a jet ski trailer and yet be more then capable of being lived in all u need is a bug net for outside to have a porch/bbq nights and enough space on the floor for a good blow up or standard mattress sense that other one looks to be only made for sleeping not the no pants dance
Why are these campers using AGM batteries instead of LiFePo4 ? The Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries discharge 80% at full voltage and last 10 years. It seems like a massive miss to save $1500 for battery costs.
Negative. My brother has the 2022 TRD and he can only tow the OP4. I know someone with a 15 and he tows it with a Tundra or Raptor The 15 is not a dainty little pop up, you need a pretty big truck to haul it. Hauling it empty empty down mountains can be scary, would advise having the freshwater tank filled to some degree
So much overpriced bullshyt out there…more than ever. I will stick to my simple truck bed tent. 100 bucks and no bullshyt. I’m still camping…idk wtf everyone else thinks they’re doing out in the woods trying to bring it all with them, lol.

very nice camper trailer! what kind of insulation does it have for 3 of 4 season use in the US?

The video I've been waiting for! Trying to decide between this and the Taxa Mantis. The OP15 seems a lot more capable for true "off the grid" camping.
Hi Dom, feel free to reach out direct to me, I can tell you the high points of each unit! Aboring86@gmail.com
@@aboring86 I just picked up a Taxa Mantis.
@@DomTheDP Were there any specific reasons you decided to go with the Mantis?

Almost went with this but chose the OBI Dweller 15 instead. Way more storage and floor mounted AC unit. Plus ROA has indoor kitchen upgrades
Looking at it now. I think it might be our next trailer

That is one hell of a camper
How is backing up with that articulated hitch?
I am looking for more technical info on the electrical system. For example, what is the highest amp load it can handle and how long, without sun, can it go with average electrical usage?
Additional, is there an extension cord to run off line voltage when you are at home or a campground?
curious. when your 10 gallon bathroom tank gets filled up with poop and piss, where or what is the best way to dispose of the waste?
Awesome overlanding camper Would like to see some kind of batwing awning system, that would also cover the dometic fridge/freezer, and maybe a lithium ion battery option.
On their site there is a 270 degree awning option that does just that :)
Has a LiFeP04 battery option.
well done video. Thank you!
Wish they would make these slightly lighter ..... too have for something like a 4Runner or anything that has a max tow of 5000#s
Try the opus 4
@@joecassel5174 Thank you. I will look at that. My only concern is camping in bear country.
@@coffenut Check out Apache Campers, they've got some very small models, basically a portable bed and kitchen, with no frills. About $15,000-$18,000.
Any chance an Opus 19 is in the future?
I'd prefer a cassette toilet. I hate wrestling with hoses, and prefer being able to dump in any outhouse.
I love it. I think this is perfect for my family. How much? Ballpark price?
60,000 it’s on there website

How do I get one in Canada
Why do no OP15 videos show what it takes to set up the king bed? I suspect it must be something you are not proud of.

Is the hitch on this unit accepted in Canada?
Great video. Thanks for the info
Nice job Aaron!
This is awesome!! Whoever the guy is? He's Gorgeous!!
It seems to have thought of everything - where can I store portable generator and is there an outdoor shower option?
Store a generator on the trailer tongue and as far as the shower that would probably easy to install if it does not have one.
OP4 has outdoor shower
If I take it to bear country how's the fold out?
I know has awing but can a screen room fit it

Option in the US as well. Imperium or BattleBorn
A friend of mine purchased this camper. He said it was terrible to tow and it was cheaply built.
WOW that’s 23’ wide!?! Won’t fit on our streets, guess I’ll find something else....

Almost the exact same as the Lumberjack Mt Buffalo except the Lumberjack is 400kg lighter.

Are people actually paying $50,000 for this small camper just because it has off road tires?.....
Is this camper made in China?
What isn’t good chance Black Series are “designed” in Australia but pre assembly in China, sent to USA for build out
Nope. Made in Australia
No one is taking a 6600 lb camper off road
in Australia we do mate
Bet. Got pics to prove it. A buddy took his down some nasty Forest Service roads in Utah then off into some sketchy trails meant for jeeps.
