Great job! I am an urban sketcher and I find people are so amazed that we draw that no one says anything negative. And it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks. You are the only one making your art.
Thank you! I appreciate the encouraging words. In this video, (I wasn’t able to film it - my phone became too hot) I actually had my first person/stranger to look at the painting. Thankfully, she was nice about it. :) I still do have challenges when it comes to fighting my anxious thoughts. I get anxious whenever I think about people looking at my work. It’s a learning process, I guess!
Thank you so much! I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I also do hope I could keep doing plein air! I've been having challenges with the weather but I'll try to create another one soon. :)
I picked up a couple of waterproof sketchbooks that I store in a pouch style fanny pack. One of the sketchbooks plus a pen are made by Rite in the Rain. Keep some Neocolor I crayons, some colored pencils, and a pencil in the bag. I did some experimenting to see what would work without smudging. It's been handy on misty, semi rainy days.
@@eileenvalachovic9435 Thank you for sharing! I’ll keep those in mind. Right now I’m struggling with the hot weather - but those will definitely help with the rainy days. :)
I really enjoyed your video! I hope you make more. I’m also shy and am working up my courage to paint plein air. So far I’ve managed it on my balcony. Your video gave me renewed courage to try. :)
I am humbled! Thank you very much for you kind words. I never thought my video could benefit in any way. I am really happy to hear that you have gained that courage! Of course, that's still all you :) I slowly built my courage throughout the years by sketching places/people in public usually at a corner - train rides, buses, cafe, restaurants, bus stops, .. It does help to paint somewhere you're most comfortable first. So, I think you're doing awesome. Just take your time! If you have yet to try, you could start small by painting outside using a small sketchbook (A7 size) and a mini water colour palette. I found this video really helpful creating my own DIY mini palette ruclips.net/video/9Ym00-CIzKg/видео.html I wish you all the best on your art journey and plein air experience. :)
That means a lot coming from you! I watched some of your videos before I did this painting. This one in particular: ruclips.net/video/nISGAtTOuGc/видео.html I was watching and searching loads of plein air gouache videos to prep myself. Haha. So, I am really surprised. But anyway, thank you so much and especially for the tips you have given to newbies like me. :) Your teachings and work are amazing.
I hope this works out for you! I considered one as well. I made one from a cigar box though. It has its plusses and minuses, but i have become emotionally attached to it !^)
Thank you! Fall has arrived so I think plein air would be much easier. I still have yet to test if my tripod can withstand winds. Cigar box sounds like a great idea especially it’s portability! I’ve always wanted to create my own. Maybe someday!
Beautiful painting. And well done conquering your fears. 😊
Beautiful!

Loved the picture!
Enjoyed watching you open your stuff.
Hope you keep on doing plein air. It can be challenging but so much fun.

So as a fellow introvert planning to start some plain air … how did you do?
