Great comparison! I sure wish Insta360 would update the X4 firmware to allow for AEB .DNG so I could use my X4 for virtual tours. I've been very impressed with its high resolution compared to my go-to virtual tour camera, the RS One 1 Inch.
Upgrade from X3 to X4 would be great. However you also need to buy new batteries, a new mic adapter. These are not compatible from X3 to X4. Next the low Light performance of the X4 is not a huge improvement compared to X3
X4 is a killer cam had to give back to hard on my machine X3 may be better, if nor X2 here I came again X4 lowest res, standard bitrae and H264 did not work on my 3 year old Lenovo Lol
X4 also has in camera pureshot feature, and for me it is a disadvantage. Sometime the pureshot effect is too sharp, and I have no way to cancel it because it was burned to JPG file. Using in camera pureshot also make saving time longer.

All those listed features in the X4 is of minor importance for me. Slow mo here and slow mo 240, its mostly gimmicks that you will use once and then forget about. Only thing that is important for me and which is very hard to get a straight answer to is: Is it possible to export a frame from the 8K 360 sphere in true 4K quality? That is what I think most should be interested in. Imagina being able to always get a 4K quialite video that you can choose from the entire 360 sphere in the camera. This would mean that you never need to aim youre camera, you could just shoot in 360 at all times and then just choose whatever 4K frame you want. X3 cant do this, im not sure X4 can either?! Maybe X5 in a year?
In order to get 4k from an 8k 360 video you would have to reframe to more than 180 degrees. The X3 typical reframe is said to be 1440 and the X4, 2.7k.

This comment is literally what I've been dreaming for since GoPro Max years ago when i bought it only to find out its not even close when u try to do that, and i was wondering if 360 x3 could do it and you just answered my question im dreaming for this day you are sharing!
Had to return my x3 then the x4 as both suffer from overheating. Apparently its a big issue with most 360 cameras, unless you use it in high winds on your car or motorbike. I wanted it for hiking and golfing but it would overheat after 20 minutes or so and wouldn't save half the videos. Very unhappy. I was even willing to look past having to set up the ISO and shutter speed every time because it couldn't get it right. Where it did shine was the pictures it took but too expensive for just pictures.
I’ve personally never had any issues with overheating but I only record up to 10 mins at a time. Try auto exposure -0.7 when starting out. It will save you from constantly choosing the settings
I have two of the x3’s but looking to get two of the x4’s also and loving the insta360 cameras I use to get all the new GoPros as they came out but after trying the insta360 x3 I wouldn’t be going back to GoPro

OVER 200$.. when that drops to near 140$ we will talk.. when you make up grades worth the price.. we will talk.

Hi Shanil On my Ace Pro, I shoot in H.265 and high bitrate 4k 60fps auto When I look at video files I've recorded, it shows as H.264 and not H.265 Why is this? Do I need to adjust something? The Ace Pro is 2 days old so still brand new and, I have the latest firmware and all updates downloaded to my phone, camera and app so everything is up-to-date Can you help ??
In the last update, they added support for third-party software like OBS to live stream in 360, have you tested this out? I am really intertested in that since I could use the internet in the computer to live stream events. Thank you for your videos, they are really informative!
In camera stitching has disadvantage, it takes few seconds longer to save. So for examble if you use interval shooting 3s, the actual interval is saving time + 3s.

2.7k at best in 8k360. But you can capture 4k30 using freeframe video mode with a single lens (non 360)

X4 Free frame mode actually is not a new feature. On X3 it was called POV+
My One R died recently. Definitely pulling the trigger on the X4 for my ride out to Songkhla.
