My mother dies in January and I'm now facing my first Christmas without her and that is just the kind of thing she'd have done. She loved celebrating all the holidays and my brother and I (in our 50s) always had gifts from Santa.

You can make some to keep forever, all you need is the plastic trees that you can put stuff in and you paint it white and then decorate to look like Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes.
