Visual Effects tutorial - planar tracking
Learn how to use Nuke's Powerful Planar Tracker to simplify many common tracking tasks such as screen replacements and simplifying clean plate and rotoscoping tasks.
In this Tutorial you will learn how to insert your own text onto the front of a moving bus by creating a corner pin node using Nuke's Planar Tracker then removing the existing text and replacing it with your own matchmoved version.

@Hugh Amari Yup, been watching on flixzone for months myself :)
Excellent job and great explanations!!!! Congrats!!!
Thanks for the comment I appreciate it and keep up the good work on your channel to.
Nice Tutorial
Very nice tutorial, enjoyed it a lot!
Awesome tutorial mate.
thanks for the support, the reason I used a framehold instead of clicking 'all' on the strokes is more for keeping the script running faster. The more paint or clone strokes you have the slower your script will run as it is very CPU intensive so I found using a framehold is a much more efficient way of doing it. Thanks for the comment though I appreciate the support.
Good tut. In the rotopaint you could have just selected all instead of single when you selected your clone tool. Then you wouldn't have to add the extra frame hold nodes.
thanks for the comment you have a fair point, the planar tracker and 3d tracker are only available in NukeX. Generally I will try to use as little software as possible to get the job done to stop having to render multiple versions out etc so I will try to use as many Nuke tools as possible but mocha is an amazing planar tracker and generally when Nuke fails at planar tracking I always go to mocha as it is a bit better at planar tracking in my opinion. Thanks again for the comment I appreciate it
Great tute bro.
Amazing tutorial buddy! As a 3D generalist, roto work was becoming quite painful!
Nice tutorial Sir.

Very well tutorial. Thank you! Can you show some adding reflection techniques please?
you can do this to, I just like to do it the way I said on the tutorial. Sometimes the motion blur on the corner pin can be temperamental

mocha wld be a good suggestion
Thanks for the comments I appreciate it, I will hopefully be uploading the new Planar Tracker Tutorial 2 so check back tomorrow and thanks again
yeah I know Mocha is a lot better for Planar Tracking the usual way is if it can be done quickly in Nuke do that but if its not working in Nuke and is more complicated use mocha lol. I will do a future tutorial on mocha as its a really good tool.
thanks for the comment though all comments are much appreciated
When I track back in the top toolbar above the screen, I get the following message:
"This functionality is only available in NukeStudio, NukeX or NukeAssist."
You have to make sure that you're launching NukeX instead of regular Nuke. On windows, right click on the icon in your toolbar, and check the name of the application. It should say "NukeX" and a version number, same with on mac, if you hover over the icon in the dock it should say NukeX. The easiest way is to search for nukex on your system and then launch it, and pin it to your toolbar/add to your dock
