I work in a museum as well, and I can say that building a new museum directly on the shoreline is incredibly stupid. Even without a storm surge - and mind you, this is a minor one - keeping museum objects directly next to salt water constantly is a terrible idea even without a storm.
Loss of life, damage to infrastructure, loss of art - all heartbreaking 😥 this is not a big storm, please prepare for the bigger ones if you’re a coastal community!
OK, so Corpus Christi has been affected by 6 hurricanes since 1961 and I’m sure that many of those had storm surges that inundated the beaches and maybe moved inland to flood the coastal communities. Knowing that history, who builds a multi million dollar museum on the beach? If a Katrina-like hurricane were to hit that location, that museum would have been 25 feet under water..........anybody driven from Waveland, MS to Biloxi, MS lately on Route 90.........not much there compared to pre-Katrina.
Why would a sane person build a Museum on the water where the chance of a storm surge is 100% at some point? This had to have been a government official with a bright idea
Corpus down town area is on the water. It's a coastal city and it's not that big. You can almost walk to the water where ever you are. Might as well not have a city there at all if you're trying to avoid the water.
The U.S. colonists deserve all these things and more. Give blacks Hispanics and natives a few thousand acres say 14,000 and leave us alone. This is the indignation of THE ONE ABOVE ALL.
@@ratherbfishing455 They did? His wife must not have know then and no one told the museum to move the stuff or move the building years ago. Did Katrina give them an idea that this could happen? Or are they were immue from it
@@ratherbfishing455 No Katrina taught everyone that you DO NOT BUILD next to the ocean in 2005 Harvey was 2017, they had 12 years to prepare for it then.
If you mean the majority of those people there are Republican so they deserve it you're way off. That's South Texas. The people you hate live in the pan handle, far away from the storm. They don't have much COVID in the pan handle either.
I really do believe the ozone has healed and is now closed but it did a lot of damage while it was open but now it can start replacement of what got burned off.
It's only worse because Corpus didn't really get much of Harvey. It turned at the last minute and hit Rock Port instead. People in Houston would think Hanna was a walk in the park.

Look at the Galveston hurricane of 1900. Several good books written on it.

You know it's bad when Joe Gazin hasn't seen anything like it.
what about the Selena statue?
Headline: "Museum's entire collection of modern art destroyed by hurricane. Losses exceed $1.37"
Modern art? ...lol...no real loss then.
Kevin Byrne Headline: Another stupid, fucking piece of shit troll exposed! Loss to society, NOTHING!! Fucking idiot...
I never saw anything there worth saving. It's not all that impressive as far as museums go.

“I don’t think they’re there”... OF COURSE THEY’RE NOT THERE! 🤣
Sad, but special treasures need to be on safe & dry, high ground from it’s beginning.
That is only if you want to keep them safe.
It looks like water?
What about the lexington?
That survived Harvey. It made to withstand huge waves if the have it tied properly.
What about houses along Ocean drive?
Not very clever to build a museum atthat spot............................
Well, things have changed in the world since that museum was built. Everything needs to move higher these days.
It has been in that spot without being in danger of being flooded from the bay for many, many years. Storms have gotten worse and sea level has risen.
@@faithfulforever6331 They were supposed to move it.
The government doesn't think that way. They wanted it were the tourist go. There is a lot of poverty in Corpus and bad neighborhoods.
That art museum has some Andy Warhol works in it.
Aloha it's only wet inside if the water got in I'm sure they prepared for this the building is a Submarine Bless your hearts Hawaii we are good

I thought that they moved the museum after Harvey. They've known for a week that a storm was coming!
That's a very low area.

I am in Rhode Island Hurricane of 1938 was before they named them. Followed by 1954 and they still did not learn. Darwin was right.

It's modern art, who cares.

It is all due to the Ozone Layer ( blue sky ) Depletion.
Sorry but Donald says that is False .

Sweet Jesus this is worse than Harvey
No it isn't
@The Gods don't remember any flooding apart from wind damage there was little flooding 😱😬😲
Heck NO
