I seriously wish Mania could get atleast a proper mod support, because what we see here is something I think other mod developers could do much better. Like seriously, not just sprite and layer replacements, but proper boss, object, level and other coding. They should really give away the goddamn source code, because they surely would get more money for Mania that way if modders could have total freedom. Imagine how many would play a remake of Sonic 1,2 and 3&K, but with Mania settings and people would just need to buy Mania. If only SEGA could see the chance in it.
I'd say have them buy a resource kit. Some games like Simcity for example released a resource kit that would allow for modding and I think this game should have that. Release a kit that allows for proper editing with both basic and advanced modding tools for PC and add Steam Workshop support for people to download the mods.
I think you overestimate how easy it is to make mania mods. This is some seriously complicated shit and the fact rob was able to get this much done is impressive
@@nikomiyozo8671 Or that's it, even that resource kit sounds much better, anything just not the current minimal modding support. Also, it would be nice if the game could go up to the Steam Workshop. Like it could prolong the game for some years, look at TF2 and it's Workshop content, some people only play the game, because of it.
@@RollyPollyPal It's not that I overestimate them, quite the opposite. I believe they could do much better if they were given more freedom, like seriously, what about those that want to remake the entire game into Sonic 1,2,3, CD or any fanmade one? They can't clearly do that, because they don't have access to recoding a boss, cutscene, enemies, level objects. It's not that I WANT modders to get shit done, it's that I feel like they don't get enough freedom for modding.
@@mydadishismom8716 Yes it's easy to control but it has basically no affordance: it's hard to guess how to use it and it's never taught by the game. AceMcCrank Alright, smartypants, listen up. Modding Mania isn’t some easy walk in the park. These features weren’t omitted out of laziness, rather because they don’t exist in the base game. I’m sure rob really wanted to put these in the game, but he simply can’t because the tools we have right now don’t allow us to do so.
Yeah, adding sprites is a lot easier than adding actual objects, so one must make good use of Mania's resources. I don't think new objects are coming any time soon, but you never know.
Shadow Well, luckily, we do have a few extra tools available to us, since we found some leftover data from the sonic 1 and 2 mobile ports. You can actually see it in action with the Unidus here, which are pulled from Labyrinth Zone instead of their spinning orb version in Studiopolis.
Its understandable that some objects are not fully ported. Object porting is pretty trick so Im fine woth the similarities they do with it. The port is good, and that remix with part of its pc theme on it was a nice touch.
Yes yes yes. I remember this Carnival Night Zone mod but notice it's been updated and that sequence at the end of act 2 reminds of Sonic 3's scrapped transition of going from Carnival Night Zone to Flying Battery Zone.
I still don't understand why Devs haven't added the Steam Workshop for PC version. So many great remakes and original zones. It would be a perfect addition to the game.
As Kid, i hate this stage - my brother ask me about the barrel, therefore i never played sonic 3....after years, all i have to push is UP and DOWN. xD Now its one of my favourite Stages and it looks really good and the Music is awesome too. :-O

Fun fact: The barrels exist in the game, but they are unused. They just spin, don't move and are only accesible in MMZ.
The barrel of Doom. The Marble Garden Zone Crushing Spikes, etc. I wished all that unused stuff were used in Encore Mode at least.

Not a big fan of Mania's sound track but I'm really digging this Carnival Remix. Maybe its just those snazzy percussion.
I like how the music is like switching between original and PC port theme of CNZ
He needs to finish the mechanisms. Great work though, the best part is the music remix which mixes parts from the genesis and PC sound tracks.
