    Over the moon with these brushes!!! Just discovered watercoloring 6 months ago, what fun! Your advice in the importance of good brushes is so true. I have tried multiple brushes and even for a beginner, noticed the difference right away. That cat's tongue, dagger and liner brushes,?!!!...I can't, just can't!!! This changes things! The liner brush specifically does hold the paint perfectly and glides beautifly on the paper, the bounce and stroke is controlled by me and not by rogue bristles that I would have to fix and change my intended creativity. It's on! Thank you so much for your videos, they just bring me joy!!!

      I find that once I have watched a painting project video, I tend not to return to it unless it is one I particularly like.
      However, I find that videos that discuss particular items, like the Holbein vid, or like how to use this liner brush with exercises, or the other brushes in your set, then I am going back to watch these again. Just FYI. 😊 💐
      PS I very much enjoyed this video, and I thought the paintings at the end were stellar. Thanks so much!! 🌟 ✨️

    So probably have 6 liner brushes & just got your 🎉! However; none had ever been touched due to fear 🫣 “control that thing moi” laughing at self. So afraid to ruin yours or one of 7, get one brush to put 2 syrup/yogurt mix on pallet & it was so much fun & had oval sphere & w that “scary brush” made decent easter egg! Ty & to that teacher 💕!

    Your gracious giving of your time and talents is greatly appreciated. So few understand the hours of production and editing that is involved in making a video like this. What was really informative was showing the versatility of the brush. I hope others read this comment, as I do not paint flowers, but find your tips helpful to paint other subjects. Using the liner for detail on tree branches upon which a bird is perched, etc. is very helpful. The stressing of the water to paint ratio was key to our understanding. You may have mentioned, but the liner is also called a rigger or script.

    I adore these brush tutorials - I bought the brush set (love, love, love them ❤️) and the dagger brush tutorial was so helpful. I feel really confident with the dagger now but was struggling a bit with the liner brush so this has been awesome. Keep ‘em coming! On another note, recently treated myself to some Daniel Smith watercolours and those with the dagger brush are a dream - the brush just floats the paint over the paper so beautifully. Could spend hours just painting multi-colour leaves with the dagger……When are your paints out?

    Something I learned from nail art, more specifically Greg Salo is that if you twirl your brush while pulling it through the paint with room for the palette to help, you get a perfectly loaded brush that comes to a nice point.
    I also noticed that having a bit of glycerin or dishwasher rinse agent can help with flow. One drop in rinse water is usually enough. Basically if the brush dries too fast add a drop of glycerin and if water tension prevents flow add a drop of rinse agent. You can play with ratios but there’s no one size solution because different brands and lines of paint have their own properties and can behave very differently from each other.
    I think the pro version is to still keep glycerin on hand and use ox gall or watercolor flow medium to replace the rinse agent.
    I have some acrylic mediums from Folkart that I will try with watercolor and come back with opinions for the archival quality purists.

  • @snuuby5468

    Chrissy, I really really appreciate your tutorials on how to use these different unique brushes. I have tried liner/rigger brushes and I wasn't loving it. It felt like I was painting with a wet noodle. It was floppy, wiggled, bent in the middle,, and just hard to control. Thanks for the great tips on using all your brushes, especially your love of the dagger brushes. Question: What is the difference between a dagger and vs stripper or rigger and, vs liner brush? I wouldn't mind a tutorial on the uses of the round brush!

    • @KristyRice
      @KristyRice  2 года назад

      So a liner/rigger (same) they has synthetic bristles will feel more easy to control. The bristles will snap back into straight form after any pressure is applies. Natural bristles won’t, they need to be maneuvered back into shape or reshaped. So perhaps you were using a natural sable or squirrel hair liner?

    Thanks Kristy for another wonderful tutorial, lots of great instructions Thanks so much hate to say any negative things specially because I enjoy you so much but that repetitive music is disturbing in my personal experience, so very sorry, I can't mute because i need to listen to you, I rather have no music and just your very clear and pretty voice is more than enough Again so sorry I dint like leaving negative comments just very difficult background music in my opinion Thanks

      I agree. Struggling with whether to comment or not, as I don't like to complain when I appreciate having the video. Having a hard time with the volume of the music competing with the talking, and can only listen for a few minutes at a time.

      I know there's some rolling out, my poor kid was caught unawares at her bank getting tapped for mine yesterday... We weren't even expecting them until middle of next month, so if you're in that time frame for delivery, you'll probably get at least a nudge up ☺️
