Thank you Atlanta for your really helpful guide. Just as a footnote on National Insurance, us relics over retirement age who are drivers don’t pay national insurance. Hope this helps.
Thank you😊 that’s a good point!
It's been 45p a mile for motoring expenses for years - looking at the cost of diesel nowadays, it's time that 45p allowance was increased!
Thank you, they never taught us this in school
True!
The mileage deduction is only after marking collected and until delivery complete. Driving to the restaurant or without a live order is classified as private use. You can normal get the delivery milage from uber/deliveroo but not the others.
Thank you this was really helpful! I'm just out the army and have went self employed subcontracted.. and I've not a clue what I'm doing 😅 and it worries me that I need to get it figured out ASAP. The Spreadsheet is a great idea to keep track of things, ill be doing that so thanks, and I'm now realising how much stuff I can get claim on like the phone bills and food at work etc 😎👍
So what about getting an accountant is that something people do online or are there local businesses I should go to? I get paid weekly so I would prefer just to pay what I'm due each week and save up the rest for myself
Thanks Atlanta the tax rates are something some don't agree with but it must be done or the crown will come knocking
That’s okay! Of course, something we have to deal with🥰
Yeah here in the states (US) it’s the folks from the IRS. God forbid the govt doesn’t get more of my money to piss away on pork projects. The queen Pelosi won’t know what to do with herself. She won’t be able to fill her couple thousand dollar freezer with those expensive ice cream brands she likes.
Hi! I can you help please? So some of the invoice(deliveroo) including those cahcout fee and does it count as expenses?! And when you add up your total do you use the app monthly or bank statement for the total earnings? Because when I use app and if it's not included the cash out fee than I have no idea to do with it...even I can't properly explain it here lol but please help 😅
Once again: my bank statement money after cashout is 50p less but invoice has a total with 50p in it and app also show without cashout and also show before amount of income, just no idea what is gross total in this case
Should I count gross total without cashout fee or it must include it in gross total and after Can I add up cashout fee separately in one tax year and put as an expenses?!
Do you have to apply for individual self assessment if you work with multiple companies, I work with Uber, just eat and Amazon flex ?
Hi, I’m looking into getting into delivering and I struggle with this tax side of things I was just wondering if your able to share just that excel spreadsheet format for organising your numbers? It’s ok if not allowed but it would help! Thank you for the video very well explained 😊
wow you are very organized with spread sheets and completing it in April, i normally wait until January then panic and have to go through the previous years earnings on all 4 apps and try to make up as many deductions as possible 🤦♂️
I’d be very stressed if I did it that way!! 😁
Yeah.
I just would like to ask...should you provide, or are you obligated to register the miles you've done... Or is it possible to do it the other way ?;
You can just do it through fuel receipts
@@AtlantaDelivers so it's not obligatory to provide milage if you're driver on UTR ? Can find a few ways for deductions. Isn't it ?
Atlanta quick question is it better to pay tax on mileage or receipts and expenses? I just started delivering 2 weeks ago, just want to know what’s the best option for me 🙏
Question, do I still need to register as self employed if I am employed by another company?
I just want to do delivery services as an extra in my spare time and days off my normal job
Yes you do!
do i need to register for a buisness account as a sole trader if i deliver for uber eats
🤦♂I was self employed as a Graphic Designer solo trader and just closed my self employment down, filled in Tax Assessment form and sent that off for trading 2021-2022. Would I need to sign up again as a solo trader? Or just do the self assessment form taxes when the time comes around? :/
I assume if you’re already self employed and signed up, you would just send it off again but I’m not an accountant so not too sure!
Hi, thanks for this video. What is the cost of an accountant per year for delivery job? Can you recommend some inexpensive company, preferably online, please. Thanks.
I’d recommend just asking for a local company.. I’m not too sure!
I dont think so you need to pay tax if you deliver food on bicycle for uber eats..
You need when you earn more than 12570£
Thanks , no wonder all my self employed mates are loaded. My motorcycle fuel costs around 10p per mile , so a 10 mile trip that takes 20 min earns £6 i would only pay 30p tax and then claim that back on food or clothing
What is point for doing tax return, now order 2.3 miles£ 3.40 emagin you need 50 pence fuel 50 pence insurance maintain 50 pence and some times take 30 minutes to get order ready, i dont think this job deserve to spend hours on and get 40 pounds a day also you need to be very careful with driving and checking speed always, altogether not very good job and really wasting time
So this kind of job must be ignored by hmrc , I did this job 2 weeks on 5 days , I did 400 pounds but I spend 180 pounds fuel and 80 pounds insurance, also 80 pounds one of my front tyre car broke .money left in two weeks only 60 pounds, so advise for each one don't do this cheap job .
If make less than 12,000 this year doing this and it’s a second job do I not need to inform hmrc and pay no taxes?
If you make more than 12k a year combined, you do
My friend says you have to "start your own company" to do Uber Eats/Deliveroo. Is this true?
Hi Atlanta! Great vid. Are you sure that you can't claim the expense of your car purchase though. I'm just about to start delivering and I've had two small business advisors both tell me that as it's a business expense, I can claim it back even though it's not used solely for business purposes.
And things like insurance aren't fully deductable but you can claim back the insurance tax that you have to pay when you take out a policy.
Thanks again for the time you take to make these vids and stay safe out there!
Hi, thank you! This is just what my accountant has advised me on as I do it based on my miles and most of it is claimed through that. I’m unsure if you work it out with your petrol receipts though.
@@AtlantaDelivers Ah yes, you're right. I remember now. You can either use an estimated milage/expenses or accurately record your daily mileages
I think I'm going to do what you said and take a pic of the start / end mileage and worry about tax deductions in 11 months time
Oh and thanks so much for the Admiral recommendation. I did use your referral and I got fully comp with hire and reward for £1288 on a 2014 Toyota Yaris which was £600 cheaper than the next cheapest insurer! 🤗
On the government website it says car insurance is deductible from taxes if you're self-employed.
Also you can claim a portion for your vehicle depending on if its personal use or just for deliveries.
@@andysimkin5200 you got to claim for the vehicle as capital allowance, it says on the government website.
@@meahmeah2279 Many thanks! This will come in very handy at the end of the the tax year 👍
Why do you have to buy the customers food yourself from the shops? , i thought you just turned up and picked up the order
Not on Beelivery! Uber Eats & Deliveroo you do!
Hey Atlanta. I have watched all your videos and enjoyed every single one. Thank you It has really helped in all ways. I have applied for Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Not heard from anyone yet Just on the waiting list and Just to be ready I have made a Accountant Would it be best to leave everything to the accountant as I am not good with taxes/paperwork? Thanks
Hi, that’s awesome! If that’s what you feel comfortable doing, then do that but you will need to tell them how much you’ve earned and your miles or petrol receipts etc
@@AtlantaDelivers Perfect Thank you xx
He’s on lnstagram.
Do you use a app for mileage tracking?
I've read up that if hmrc ever required records, they need addresses/postcodes to check claimed amounts
Hi, no I don’t.
@@AtlantaDelivers Quick books is incredible for this, provides proof as well, tracks business journeys. Further, it can take photos of receipts such as for lunch and expenses, makes it far easier for your accountant as well :)
Very well explained . Do you have a separate bank account for tax?
Thank you! I have a separate account where I put my tax into, to have it saved, yes.
Thanks for showing us how you do your taxes across the pond. Yeah I have to do one for the business I’m involved in and for this gig work plus also the pay I got for being a w2 worker for somewhat a couple of months in 2021. Boy you talk about having to keep 2 books up to date for the business and gig work and just a 1099 for just the small amount of W2 work I did for FedEx.
Thank you! Aw well done!
If you do it part time, do you need to figure out how many weeks you worked? For NI
I’m actually not too sure, sorry🙈
Do uber drivers get tax refunds similar to CIS workers
Great video
Thank you!
I have worked for Just Eat(Stuart to be more specific) and I haven't signed up for the past 4 years, I'm I going to be in trouble ? I had no knowledge of how the system works, what should I do
Ummm quite possibly depending on your earnings
1:32 Just I need some explanation about this , I paid my taxes before January 2023 which is 3000 pounds, on GOV website still says You owe £600. To avoid penalties, you must pay by 11:59pm . on 31 July 2023. I do not understand £600 for what ? could explain to me please ? many thanks
Yes, 2 payments a year
Hello Atlanta. I am enjoying your videos :) On Uber Eats it shows the miles per delivery but I don't think this is including going to the restaurant and also all the miles moving around in between jobs, so am I best just recording my starting mileage and then finishing mileage when out delivering? Do you have to prove this somehow to accountants and if so how?
Hi Kevin, that’s what I do. My accountant hasn’t asked for any proof 😊
@@AtlantaDelivers hello and thank you for what you sgare here.
I have a prob at the moment (I'm in the UK) I am doing my self assessment as self employed and didn't record the mileage for the time I'm doing my taxes for first time. How can I calculate them so I claim them? I've been thinking I can do an average from my last months, but I have no one I can talk to about it. I do this as a part timer. Thank you!
What if i do coaching job “second work” i do get paid via bank do i still need to declare it even though its not over that £12,750 threshold??? Please help
So up to 12000£ a year you don't have to pay tax and register as a self employed?
Only if that’s your only income you don’t have to pay tax on it. I’m not sure if you need to register being self employed or not.
Hi, Do we need a accountant for delivroo if we earn less than 12 000 per year? Thanks
Do you get tips as well?
Do you keep your petrol receipts, even if you claim the 45p mileage allowance?
I don’t, no!
I think that's only if you're earning enough to claim back VAT, at which point they need the receipts to see the amount of VAT you've paid. If you're not registered for VAT I don't think this applies.
Hi nice video. Just to clarify I don't have to pay tax and NI if I make under £12.000 doing my food delivery?
I believe so but I would check! I know not tax so just check.
@@AtlantaDelivers ok thanks keep up the great work 👍🏿
@@KZ-gh4yt thank you 😊
Hi, Atlanta what accountant company do you use plz?
Hi, I have a friend of a friend who does mine.
Could you claim H&R insurance costs back separately or does that get included in the 45p/mile
I’m actually not 100% sure!!
good question! I have the same doubt. I pay with zego hourly as a part-time delivery driver. can I claim miles along side this delivery insurance?
Do i need to create a business in order to deliver? I heard you just declare earnings and that’s it, no need to create a business. Is it right?
Yes correct, you just need to register self employed but doesn’t need to be done straight away!
Hi Atlanta, nice to watch ur videos, especially with such information. I have a quick question, could you please give me a clarification on what you mentioned? Amount spent on shopping (not taxable). Do we not have to pay tax on shopping expenses from the money we got? Thank you🤗
Hi, thank you. No you do not for beelivery. You only pay tax on your profit.
Can you pay your taxes every month?
Yes 🙌
@AtlantaDelivers thank you for responding you just earned another sub 😁
Hello
I’m working full time , if i do part time with uber eat I have to pay tax?
Hi, yes.
depend if you go over 1000
@@andrewhobbs147so if you make less 1000 you don’t have to pay tax? I just want to make a 1000 for Xmas gifts! I have a full time job already
Thanks
No problem
HI Alata your spread sheet could share it?
Hi, I’m not really sure how to but I may try and sort it in the future to help!
Cor that sounds like more hassle than it's worth 😐
Well explained.
Thank you!
Do you have a link for your spreadsheet
I don’t actually. I can help if you need though!
Witch company is employed and not self-employed
All self employed. You can work for just eat employed or self employed though.
He’s on lnstagram
Do you have to pay tax if you do it for a second job? Thanks
Hi, yes you do. I was employed and doing this as well and you need to pay tax and NI.
Do you need an account? Can I do everything myself. For example if I'm using my bike. I add on my spreadsheet on what days I'm working and how much I earn. Then take 20% tax off of it. Is that how much tax I pay. The again theres national insurance. How much do I pay.
I'll be working for HMRC as my main 9-5 and want a side job.
Need advice on the process.
Hi, you can do it yourself. As I said in the video, you take off either your miles as an expense or your fuel cost. I would google NI.
I asked many drivers no one doing any self assessment
They’ll get caught one day!
If HMRC finds out, the costs will cost more than your wage!
@@RaptorHunt definitely!!
There are hundreds of thousands drivers not doing self assessment..some people at least 4 years...I am scared I ve done my self assessment it's part time for me but I don't want any problems
Imagine making an average of £5/hr working 100 hours then you have to pay tax on it.. if you only work when it's busy and make £15k in a year then you won't owe tax, better to do the self assessment and put all phone/clothing/fuel/maintenance costs on expenses (it will bring the net figure under 12k which isn't taxed). Some drivers earn 50k and pay 10k tax/NI (probably need shifts to make that much). I knew drivers who worked 100 hours every week, but I'm just a cyclist :)
You don't need an accountant but you need to know exactly what you can/can't put on expenses.
Hello Why are we multiplying by 0.45p? Have you been told by the accountant? Can't we just keep the fuel receipts?
I do mine by miles. The other way is to do it by fuel receipts.
@@AtlantaDelivers When I buy new tires for my car or change the discs of my car, can I show it as an expense?
@@osmananadol6064 yes as long as you have the receipts
Nice vid, useful info and well presented. Be careful with showing your personal details on your videos though, your full name and full Gmail address was on the screen for a brief moment.
Thank you 😊 I share my name and gmail address anyway ☺️
@@AtlantaDelivers ah okay. Fair enough. Just wasn’t sure if you would want that kind of info out there. Lots of strange people lurking around these parts 🙃
😅i've studied the tax module at uni, and 😂i forgot most it. i guess this is a review but not really
Haha😂
I know they haven’t teach you in school
?
great video mam
Thank you!
that dress tho,,just gorgeous
So 😊
What a legend
Thank you!
Hey atlanta , love your vids . You are gorgeous ❤
Thank you! 😊
Do I not have to pay any tax if earn less than £12,570 in a year?
I believe that is correct!😊
Beautiful girls
I only do part time, started in June 2021 and definitely made less than £12,000 so I'm aware there's no tax due. However, can I claim back expenses? I've got all my fuel receipts and receipts for repairs done on my car. Many thanks
I’m not too sure I’m afraid!
Hi Atlanta! Nice video and I like your vibes 😊. I've just started to work as a part time Uber Eats Driver and as I understood and as I can see I have to apply for self-employed by HMRC website. Now, How can I submit my self-employed status through the app, do you mind to explain this, Please?. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. Cheers by an Italian in Somerset 😁♥️ 🤌😂.
Hi, thank you. What do you mean through the app? You have to do your tax return at the end of the tax year through HMRC.
