But if you have a medium or big sized business then you must take Accountant advise as there are so many rules about what is allowable and disalloawable expense for your business... If HMRC investigate and find out any problem then they will charge penalty ... And also Accountant can save you some tax also

    1) I’m part employed and part self-employed. How exactly do I cover that on the form besides ticking both the options in terms of amounts. And will I put the total number including the employed salary into the final figures?
    2) if I’m self employed but take work from different places, would it be sufficient just to put one business, given that it’s all self employed money or do I need to name the sources?

      You’ll need to enter the gross amount in the turnover field which is the amount before they deducted the 20% tax. A few pages later you’ll then have the opportunity to detail how much Tax was deducted by the contractors which will ensure you’re not taxed twice.

      Also for those who only have hobby income below £1000 but have UTR numbers... I have a savage £800+ late tax return bill because of poor info from both HMRC and DWP. Thank you.

    My accountant was the one doing mine... But now I want to do it myself... What do I do? Do I have to register as my agent was doing it and he refuses to give me the login... I have a UTR no and gateway detail... Please someone help me

    • @trader_uk1446
      @trader_uk1446  4 года назад +1

      You should be able to create a government gateway login (which takes 5 minutes) then register that UTR number once you’ve logged into the gateway. It will link your personal tax affairs across

    I was delighted when the kind people at the Inland Revenue wrote to me recently, telling me that my tax return was 'outstanding', particularly as I can't even remember sending it in.

    Hi , this is the second year I've come here to do the tax return, so I guess I'm a repeat customer!
    I have a question: where does Universal Credit come in on this? At 4:17 it asks if you received any pensions or state benefits - does Universal Credit come under this?

    • @trader_uk1446
      @trader_uk1446  2 года назад +1

      Universal credit isn't a taxable benefit so doesn't need to be declared on a self assessment. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks this was very clear. So just to confirm, I'm not expected to upload pdfs of my bank statements or declare my bank balance? I just fill it all out and if they want more information they contact me?

    • @trader_uk1446
      @trader_uk1446  4 года назад

      Exactly. They just want to know income and expenses. If there were any problems then they would contact you. If you have a tax liability don’t forget to pay. (payment methods can be found with a quick google search)

      @@trader_uk1446 thanks. I'll keep my eyes open. I know plenty of one BTL landlords with a main job who are quite desperate for more information on this subject. Reason being pensions aren't performing enough and people in their 50s are becoming accidental landlords. I'll subscribe cheers

    Hi. Thanks for the brilliant video.1) I work as a freelancer from home for some foreign languages agencies via telephone and laptop using the WIFI of the main building. I earn by the minutes I work. Can I deduct some of the costs of my studio flat which coincides with my work place? My rent is all inclusive and there is not a breakdown of costs (rent, electricity, internet, council tax,etc). Thanks.
