I just had my HSG procedure done today 6/2/22. Every one has a different pain tolerance. To be honest it was sooooooo painful I even cried. The nurse said I actually did good compared to other patients that she has had. The test is not short it is at least 20/25 mins not including to get called in and change clothes. It’s no sterrups they mad me form my legs in a V shape that was already uncomfortable then once the spectrum is in they put your legs down so that made it worst then once everything is is in they ask you to turn in which the tech will help you. It was a nonstop cramps ti the 10th power. I had to take a minute to get up but once everything was out of your vaginal was instant relief. I wish I would’ve prepared more but honestly I don’t think I even could of prepared for that pain though. Anyhow good news my tubes are completely open and no abnormalities so that was the best part. She did say that you can get pregnant easier now that it has flushed your tube so I’m excited!

I had my HSG test 5 days ago. It was the worst pain I have ever experienced, like they we’re stabbing a hot knife on my uterus. I almost fainted on the table, I was crying and screaming. Both of my tubes are completely block. Thankfully the pain stopped a few hours later but had light cramps for days and small bleeding. I understand that every woman is different so I’m just sharing my personal experience. It was traumatizing.

Had one done today.....felt like I was in a torture chamber. I'm glad that my experience isn't the standard because I was sad that we have to go through this.
Had mine today! After days of anxiety about the test,it wasn't that bad. I recommend getting it done by your fertility specialist or your OB-GYN, and not at the hospital by radiologist. My doctor told me that it hurts sometimes depending on who you have do it,that a fertility specialist knows the ins and outs of the female body so they are more gentle. I only took 600 mg of mortin. Test itself is 5 minutes

I had my HSG today and it's the worst kind of pain 've experienced in my life. They gave me 1 injection before the procedure to lessen the pain but it was numbing pain. 5hrs later am still feeling traumatized. I cried like a little baby but I had very understanding nurses who helped me to calm down. I could never have been prepared for that kind of pain🤦♀️NEVER AGAIN!!!
I got this procedure done today to be honest the cramps were pretty uncomfortable. It felt like a Pap smear until the insertion of the catheter which is what cause cramps. The process was quick this video is accurately described!
I'm not gonna lie, I am definitely on one extreme of the spectrum. I got my first one done at SGF about 2 years ago and now have to go in for another. I am scared as hell. The first one........OMG......."discomfort" was not the right word. It felt like someone lit a match inside my lower abdomen. Soooooooo painful. I had a blocked tube though. Seems like it's a lot more painful for people with blocked tubes.
This procedure was the most painful thing I have experienced in my life. I have broken several bones, split my head open, jammed fingers, etc. I have always considered myself to have a fairly high pain tolerance. Nothing could have prepared me for the intensity of pain this procedure caused. When the contrast was pushed through, it felt as if my organs were being twisted/stabbed/electrocuted. I almost passed out on the table while yelling out in pain. It is downright cruel that they do this procedure without any type of sedation. I was angry and so emotional that I was put through this with only a warning of “mild cramping.” Also, my fallopian tubes were not blocked. There is a long list of women online who share similar experiences about how painful this is. Do not let your provider gaslight you into thinking this is a painless procedure. A close friend of mine said her HSG was more painful that her unmedicated childbirth. I would not recommend doing this procedure without demanding some kind of pain medication or anesthesia. Motrin or ibuprofen won’t cut it if you have an experience anything like I did. With that said, I am glad that the majority of women find this only mildly uncomfortable.
I had mine recently. No pain whatsoever. Didn't even know the procedure was over. They had given me strong pain medication for the procedure. Additionally, they gave lidocaine injection during the procedure. I think it's the lidocaine that did the trick! Talk to your clinic about it prior to the procedure 😊
Im scheduled to do it tomorrow. Kinda nervous but i know what to expect now, thanks for this video. Fingers crossed pain is tolerable and tubes are unblocked 🙏🤞
Just had this procedure done and it was very quick. I had a great doctor and technician who explained things fully and said we could take a break if it was too much, then explained each step of the way. The speculum being placed, the cleaning and the catheter insertion were basically fine, just a little uncomfortable - similar to a Pap smear. The technician warned me that the dye could cause cramping, and it did, more of a sharp cramp than a regular menstrual cramp, but because I knew it would only last 30 seconds or so it wasn’t bad. As soon as they got the images the doctor removed the catheter and ballon and the pain stopped. I took 600mg of ibuprofen and 400mg of Tylenol before. I’m glad I was prepared for it being somewhat painful because my obgyn didn’t say anything about that. Overall not an awful experience!
I had my HSG done today. I took 600mg ibuprofen, 1gr paracetamol and buscopan 10mg one hour before the procedure. It was painful like my worse than my worst period cramps but for a short period of time. I was shocked but tried to be calm. After the procedure i didn't feel any pain and i had light spotting. My tubes are Not blocked and the results were excellent. I have painful periods that i take pain killers without interrupting my life. The nurse and the doctor beforehand told me that the pain might be zero to mild... Of course that was not true for me. Good luck girls!
I did the hsg today. I took pain relief 1hr prior and when the entering the catheter it was already a 7 of 10 pain for me. When adding the contrast it was at a 9 I was crying for a few min after while the pain subsided. The worst pain I've ever felt. I pray never to do it again. I'm only leaving this here because although few, some women need to know this is possible.
Hey y’all whoever is getting this test… I got mines done today a few hrs ago. The procedure itself didn’t hurt . It feels like cramps and pressure. Now after the procedure that’s when I felt all the pain it felt like cramps but intense as hell. I couldn’t take it . I had to get a pain relief shot and rest for 30 mins for that to kick in after that I was okay. I’m still cramping but I feel so much better.
SAME! I got mine today about 10 hours ago, the procedure was painless but right now I’m cramping a lot. Nothing to be a serious issue, but I just need to rest.
Absolutely the same experience as mine! I got mines done today, and it was very uncomfortable, but tolerably painful. After that, during the visit to the doctor's office, it started to hurt like a hell. But I didn't take any pain killers because I didn't take them with me. And it was to painfull to go somewhere to buy them.. I couldn't even talk and I barely made it to my car so I just lay down for 2 bloody hours and waited for the pain to subside. Very very bad experience but luckily everything is fine with my fallopian tubes..
Great video. I had my test yesterday, the fluid that was injected was painful, felt a burn then a very sharp period pain. Everything else before and after was fine.
Thank you SO much for this video. I am getting one at the end of this week to check on my partial septate uterus. I am a nervous wreck and I cannot thank you enough for this information!
Just found out today that I have to get this test done. Honestly so scared 😅 but thank you for this video! I hate going into any procedure with little-to-no knowledge so this helped me a lot!
I had this done yesterday morning & was terrified. I took pain medicine 30 minutes after & I will say this did hurt. However, the cleaning and the tube insertion was not painful for me,but the balloon hurt. It felt like a sever period cramp that wouldn’t go away. Not unbearable, but not painless. Edit: my left tube was slightly blocked & my right was not at all. Left is now completely open.
This test scared me so bad because of all the videos I watch. It was not painful at all and it was a very quick test. Take a pain pill and hour before and you’ll be fine, also my doctor give me an antibiotic. I did mines in June the cost was $550 but with my insurance I paid $120
I had this test today. I was terrified from listening to other ppl. So I called my dr and requested pain medication! I took an 800mg Ibuprofen and I didn’t feel anything but small cramps from the liquid and I felt him pulling the balloon part out. It was virtually pain free! Afterwards I wore a pad bc I had spotting and clear liquid coming out. I had a radiologist do my procedure too. Take you pain meds one hour before and just try to relax.
Yeah, I know someone who had this done years ago, and she said it was the most excruciating pain she had ever experienced. It didn't show anything, but she never could get pregnant. Wound up adopting.
I did mine today and Alhumdulillah it went good .. just felt like a really sharp and burning period cramp only for like 1 min and I was okay .. just make sure your doctor gives you painkiller injections and you will be okay
I had this done a couple years ago and maybe it was because my tubes were blocked but it was like my unmedicated labor for about three minutes. The nurses held my hand and were really nice. But be prepared because it can hurt like a SOB.
I had it done twice in different hospitals. The first one was so painful i screamed and it was also painful afterwards, the second one was very easy fast smooth and not painful at all. So i think it depends with what they are using or how they are doing it.
I had my procedure done seven months ago. The tech who performed the position kept asking me to move to the right. Each time I moved it was extremely painful. To the point where I could barely move. I experienced right abdominal pain immediately after the procedure. Then the pain will go and come in spurs since then. My period is now irregular where I’m spotting in between periods. I’ve NEVER had irregular periods. I finally went to the doctor yesterday and was told that my uterus is enlarged similar to 10 week pregnant uterus. I’ve been ordered to do a pelvic ultrasound which is scheduled for next week. I’m having regret doing the HSG because I never had these problems prior to my HSG procedure.
I get mines done next month. WITH anesthesia😃. I’m definitely not going to take that chance with being awake. Had more tell it’s horrible. With having schizoaffective disorder with panic attacks, this won’t be pretty for me nor the doctor performing it. Thank God my fertility clinic does anesthesia or id be screwed🫠😰
Hi, i had my HSG today. I was sooo stressed, that i couldn't think about anything but the test only. I also scared myself by googling and reading other 's comments. My advise: Do not do that! The HSG lasts 2 minutes and it's not that painfull. I would give a score of pain level 3/10. Bring somebody with you to hold your hand and cheer you up. Note: before that test i took Naproxen and stress relief tab.
Hello, I have been on Google since last reading comments. I am booked for mine tomorrow. With the comments so far, I am already scared. May God help me
Bases off what I've read in most comments...usually if you dont have a blockage it probably wont hurt that bad and if you do have a blockage it hurts like hell... I have one tube blocked from etopic pregnancy and it hurt pretty bad..I feel like I have a pretty decent tolerance for pain..if both were blocked I might of passed out😮.
Well I’ve read a few comments saying it hurts like hell however they tubes was not blocked but that’s was only a couple. But like you said, most who tubes was block, did hurt.
This procedure nearly killed me. And I had to do it twice. Hydrosalpinx. Yeah I had both tubes removed via a c-section cut and that hurt less! I'm legitimately traumatized.
Had mine today - took two OTC ibuprofen an hour before. Worst part was the speculum. Mild, weird to explain, discomfort when she put in the dye. Make sure you breathe!! I did not have any blocked tubes, thankfully, so not sure if that played into to the lack of pain.
I was scarred at first but if you are relaxed and take ibuprofen you will be fine. It feels a bit uncomfortable at first, i felt a bit of cramping for the firsr 10 min.
This was very informative and after this I will not look up more info i really appreciate this video I was worried about it but I have painful menstrual cramps so I believe I will be ok.
I had my HSG done is June, and turns out that my fallopian tube was very narrow, that explains why I couldn’t get pregnant for 2 years. The test help open my tube and I got pregnant in August literally 2 months after the test!!! Unfortunately I miscarriage in October. My question is can my Fallopian tube go back to being narrow again??
I’m so sorry. If I were you I would talk to your doctor and maybe go back to the fertility specialist that did your HSG and see if you should do another HSG to help the process. I’m so sorry that happened. Sending you lots of love.
thanks for the explanation, it's very comforting. im a bit nervous, worry mine will go bad, but i'll do it either way, it will be in the next week, wml
I had the saline one done first and let me tell you. I was hurting so bad, I was throwing up. Now they are wanting me to do the hsg, because they are pretty sure I have a unicornuate.
I had my first two kids with no problem i had no trouble at all getting pregnant. Now trying for a 3rd baby I had no luck. Will be getting this test done soon. Hopefully get some answers.
I had it done and was extremely painfull... but what I didn't know it was because both of my fallopian tubes are blocked. I had it done 3 times because the person who was doing the HSG probably never had person with blocked fallopianbtubes. I let her do it so many times because I wanted to know the answer why I can't get pregnant. So listen to your body's.
I had my HSG this morning and it went great 😊just a little bit of cramp 🥹but no pain 🥰!! Before i went to the clinic I took a 🛀 bath for 30 min to relax my body I also took 1 💊 pill a 500ml Tylenol ,my husband was there with me, he took my hand that help me a lots . Good luck girls ☺️☺️😊☺️😊
Did anyone have the HSG test and found out that your tubes were not blocked but you had ectopic pregnancies in the past but got pregnant after the HSG procedure. If so, please share your experience.
Can someone tell me what is more painful this procedure or the labor for birth cuz I made this procedure today and I can tell it was soooooooooo painful 😭. Even after the procedure I was still fainting for like 30-40 min 😭 it was painful that I never experienced ever and I have high pain tolerance
had tubal ligation and now I want reversal. I did HSG test but no fallopian tubes were visible on scan. Does it mean the doctor removed both of my tubes or do I need some other test to check my tubal status. I am very confused about this situation. Kindly reply me please
I just had it done today! I was so scared and it didn’t hurt AT ALL I didn’t even feel them put the Dye in You’ll do great The full thing is less than 10 mins
I had an hsg done back in 2020 i believe of february & i had one blocked tube, it was my right tube that was blocked but my left was completely open & yes, i do have a child already & yes, you can get pregnant with one tube open, BUT i just got another one done this year of this month (february 2023) & i was told somehow that BOTH of my tubes are open & i'm not even too sure how they both became open but two tubes being open are better than one when trying to get pregnant, even though one is better than none, but i'm still waiting on my other miracle baby & also, the pain was more painful this time than it was with my last one, but nevertheless, having a baby will hurt way more 🥴🥴🥴
I just had it done today and it showed only my left fallopian tube on the x-ray? I don’t know why? And it was not blocked but the other falopian it didn’t show it
If even a small percentage of women report severe pain as part of this procedure, why would there not be more appropriate pain management options available to women who request them? Just because a procedure is relatively short doesn't mean that severe pain should be ignored or unaccounted for.
They tell you to take ibuprofen. That is for pain. Majority of ppl expierence no pain. Just bc 1 in 1000 does, doesn't mean we all should recieve high dose of pain meds. .
Just another perspective here: the “don’t Google” directives really feel shamey towards people who have anxiety. Someone who has anxiety over a medical procedure likely doesn’t have the anxiety because they researched it or talked to friends about their experiences. They likely had anxiety to begin with, are high information patients and are reassured by that information.
They don’t want people to Google it because they don’t want people demanding pain relief, and many women experience lots of pain with procedures like this. They say it “takes too long” and they’d rather you pay them to do it in the office instead of going somewhere else that provides pain relief and paying them.
I had my HSG test yesterday I literally felt nothing. My doctor was so nice and easy and I literally felt not even the catheter inside me. I have no clue why people are saying it hurts. Getting pinched hurt more than this ever would. I had some spotting. That even stopped 1 hr after the procedure. Ppl need to stop saying this hurts bc it literally didn’t.
I did mine yesterday and it hurt so badly that I cried and my 2 legs were shaking beyond control. So don't blame people because you didn't feel pain does not mean others didn't
Please dear I did HSG test it show's the both fallopian tubes were blocked , but when ever I did sonography it will show the tube's are open, if I repeat the HSG again it will still show blockage,I'm confused I need your advice I have been trying to concieve for 5 years now

I did one today,i cried so hard😫
Waiting on my results im so nervous cause i really want a baby
Just did mine and I’m so worried
True it's painful usually if you have blockages
Ask light anesthesia ...it can be done
My experience was HORRIBLE. I cried for many minutes
@wokeyardie I am so sorry to hear this!! It’s awful 😫😔
😂😂😂😂😂
Just had mine done right now, pain here and there but I'm feeling better as time goes by
I had my HSG done today.
I am so glad I'm not alone. I'm still cramping .
SAME! I got mine today about 10 hours ago, the procedure was painless but right now I’m cramping a lot. Nothing to be a serious issue, but I just need to rest.
Sure
Ohh
I agree but the fluid and balloon inflation was very painful!
Were you allowed to go in with your husband?
I have mine on Saturday and I'm freaking out
@@joyabramsreality6891 mine couldn’t go into the procedure room because of the X-ray and it’s a very tight space!
Thank you SO much for this video. I am getting one at the end of this week to check on my partial septate uterus. I am a nervous wreck and I cannot thank you enough for this information!
Wish me luck. Having mine today
How soon do u get ur results?
@@jerseyrose_ It all depends on the physician. I got my result right after.
I just did mines and it was the worst pain ever never again
I had this test today. I was terrified from listening to other ppl. So I called my dr and requested pain medication! I took an 800mg Ibuprofen and I didn’t feel anything but small cramps from the liquid and I felt him pulling the balloon part out. It was virtually pain free! Afterwards I wore a pad bc I had spotting and clear liquid coming out. I had a radiologist do my procedure too. Take you pain meds one hour before and just try to relax.
Tnx love am taking it on Thursday buh did u concieve
Yeah, I know someone who had this done years ago, and she said it was the most excruciating pain she had ever experienced. It didn't show anything, but she never could get pregnant. Wound up adopting.
Than maybe she have pcos
I did mine today and Alhumdulillah it went good .. just felt like a really sharp and burning period cramp only for like 1 min and I was okay .. just make sure your doctor gives you painkiller injections and you will be okay
I had my HSG test done the other day and it hurts like hell and my bleeding was very heavy but I hope it's worth it.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Can this procedure clear the block
When did the bleeding stop? I’m on day 2 and still bleeding.
@@The_Mom_Baker yes, but only the first three months. temporary unblock.
Thank you for this video
Your face and voice made so calm and believe in myself that I can do this test.
Thank you
Just started my fertility journey. Thank you for this information bc I am nervous about all the upcoming tests coming up.
Wow! 🫢 It sounds like the tech inserted the acorn portion of the tool further than he/she should have and consequently stretched your uterus.
Working with you guys on June 3rd for the very first time
I get mines done next month.
Can you please tell me the cost of this procedure?
@williamsb456 I did get pregnant right after, so it's worth it!
Am getting one in a few days and am super nervous. However, this video's been helpful...
Thank you so much for this video, I feel so relieved after watching this. I was super nervous and didn’t know what to expect.
Xoxox 💪🏽
I had HSG test today 20.07.2022 result will be receive tomorrow
You helped ease my nerves a lot thank you
I had my HSG done is June, and turns out that my fallopian tube was very narrow, that explains why I couldn’t get pregnant for 2 years.
Sending you lots of love.
yes it can, you will have to get this test again to unlock. unfortunately, it's only a temporary unblock.
Can you tell me how much this procedure cost? Thanks in advance.
Having mine soon and I’m glad I came across this.
Havw now gathered up some courage to do the test, thanks doc
I did my HSG test last month and it was painful but it was a success at the end of the results
As in you conceived?
I had one last week. My tubes were not blocked so it didn't hurt at all. Just had some pressure and cramping after.
Good afternoon, thank you for this video. Is there a preference MRI over ultrasound or these are the same?
thanks for the explanation, it's very comforting. im a bit nervous, worry mine will go bad, but i'll do it either way, it will be in the next week, wml
Thank you so much. Though I still feel anxious about it but I will definitely go for it. I just got out of hospital due to serious menstrual bleeding.
I had the saline one done first and let me tell you. I was hurting so bad, I was throwing up. Now they are wanting me to do the hsg, because they are pretty sure I have a unicornuate.
Just had mine! It was painful
I had my first two kids with no problem i had no trouble at all getting pregnant. Now trying for a 3rd baby I had no luck. Will be getting this test done soon. Hopefully get some answers.
While i did mine in 2020 I listened to my meditation music it was so quick and painless
So did they ever open after three tries ?
I had my HSG this morning and it went great 😊just a little bit of cramp 🥹but no pain 🥰!! Before i went to the clinic I took a 🛀 bath for 30 min to relax my body I also took 1 💊 pill a 500ml Tylenol ,my husband was there with me, he took my hand that help me a lots . Good luck girls ☺️☺️😊☺️😊
My doctor did hsg without an Xray machine. The report mentioned " free flow" . Is it possible to perform hsg this way? M confused.
It’s very uncomfortable and painful 😓
I’m about to go on procedure next, wish me well
I am concerned about having this test.
Am getting mine done in few days thanks for the video
Listen ladies this test really hurts 💔. May be it depends upon person to person. And moreover how it's done with
Did anyone have the HSG test and found out that your tubes were not blocked but you had ectopic pregnancies in the past but got pregnant after the HSG procedure.
Ma’am can this HSG test help unblock your Fallopian tubes if blocked ?
Yes precious hsg unblock the fallopian tubes got mine test done two weeks ago my my it was painful mighty god
the expectrum and see all the instruments makes the process very stressful 😴
i just did this morning, but need to repeat. Doc inform camera halfway, narrow hallway.
This helps a lot. Thanks ! Hugs.
had tubal ligation and now I want reversal. I did HSG test but no fallopian tubes were visible on scan. Does it mean the doctor removed both of my tubes or do I need some other test to check my tubal status. I am very confused about this situation. Kindly reply me please
Dang do they offer a volume to take 1hour before for those that are very anxious and can't relax?
I did my HSG today. it was okay. It didn’t hurt… it just a lil cramp in my belly nothing I don’t feel every months !!!
I was mad scared tho but it wasn’t bad
Thank you so much for this brief information. I am about to do HSG next mont after a ling scary wait!!
Don’t worry 👍💗
@@saimaiffi9425 Thank you.
I just had it done today! I was so scared and it didn’t hurt AT ALL
I didn’t even feel them put the Dye in
You’ll do great
The full thing is less than 10 mins
@@iamjulia_od I am happy you are feeling good. I will take it next week I have to call my DR. Good luck sis.
I did it today. I'm in heal of a pain. It's like a they put me a burning 🔥 charcoal. That keeps moving around my abdomen.
Ma is it burning or painful
It's burns, and it is painful. You need someone to drive you after and buy painkillers and eat porridge
Please dear I did HSG test it show's the both fallopian tubes were blocked , but when ever I did sonography it will show the tube's are open, if I repeat the HSG again it will still show blockage,I'm confused I need your advice I have been trying to concieve for 5 years now
I'm booked for HSG tomorrow in Rahima Moosa (Corination) I don't wanna lie I'm scared
