    Thank you very much!
    I also have a question.
Is it possible to place a video about combined stresses and stress ratios. I mean a method proposed by Shanley and Ryder, which provides a practical means of considering the combination of the fictitious stresses of bending or torsion and of obtaining the allowable ultimate loads for combined loading.
    Thank you in advance.

what is zx for solid cylinder beam? a circle wire

  • @kebzkebz3110

please clarify..since we are talking of a concrete beam, torque means the rotation of the beam about its axis along the beam length. we have in the example a simply supported beam, and there are no restraints at the supports. How could you say that there is torque acting in the cross section of the beam? Also, as I see in your presentation, you are discussing the plastic moment capacity of the cross section, not the bending or torsional moment applied in the beam.

      Hello Kedz,
You are right about the definition of torque. The cross-section we are discussing is going through bending and not experiencing any torque.

Unfortunately your video is incorrect and needs to be edited. In general, it is fine to have the stress greater than the yield stress in the stress-strain diagram, but your equation for Mp is based on the stress being equal to the yield stress. The Mp equation and stress distribution over the depth of the beam are based on an elastic, perfectly plastic material (a special case in which the maximum stress = yield stress). In order to correct your video, the stress-strain diagram needs to have a horizontal line at the yield stress and the inequalities next to the stress distribution figures need to be changed to stress = yield stress.
