Thank you
I am sure it melts/implodes...
@@TheRimBrakeGuy So at this point should I just keep my case open? no way to do one?
@@raladin3ddas the issue is with with ATX 3.0 12v PWR delivery for a hungry card the only thing I can suggest is to undervolt the GPU from stock so it draws less power. You will gain peace of mind as in load you can reduce the draw by 100watts or more and only reduce performance bt 1-2%. To my book it's a good trade off.
This is what Nvidia should have included from the very begining. Glad to see CableMod step up.
They could have just put the power facing the rear of the card and told partners to leave some finger safe fin room for the plug.
Ha. Mine is still in China. I got the shipping update tho! Funny note, I saw CN the first time I looked at the tracking and thought it was in Connecticut. Oof.
Sure but Nividia adding this wouldve added another couple hundred bucks to the msrp.😅
$2000 was enough for the 4090 so I disagree if it would raise the cost
or design it in a way where you dont need this

I was just about to point that out as well.
Came here just for this - had to replay it as thought he didn't have that photo up for long.....was up for so little time it didn't even make it to 1 frame XD

After Jay sees comment: "Oh it's still on my Phone" 🤦♂
Should probably put an update on this saying recall lol

I think what's cool is that he specifically said he is concerned about the wiggle and boom, it turned out the wiggle ended up screwing this product up as well
You should probably edit the recall into the beginning of this.
If I am not mistaken these might be the cables that were taken off most sites because they weren't safe for the pc. I recommend you do your research if you are planning to buy one as of October 2023
What did you find out about them ??
@@y0daaathey were melting the connector.
so is it not about the thing he was talking about at 5:24 ?
@tldoesntlikebread that is what it is about yes but I think cablemod had their own faults because they ended up recalling their connectors last I knew. But either way just do research so you don't waste any money if you do consider buying this cables or even the 4080/4090 cards
Yes Cablemod has a recall on ALL these adapters. There seem to be no other adapters for sale on their site now 😢. They may be working on a V2.0 of these but who knows
Honestly 90 degree adapters while a small thing...is a HUGE deal when dealing with cables and such...Glad these finally came out. Great video Jay.

Jay, all I can say is thanks for making the videos that ACTUALLY matter such as this one. Keep up the great work.
Agree! Im looking at getting a 40 series card, but don't want the 12VHPWR cable sticking directly out from the card, so these adapters are perfect and this video was great. very helpful! Thanks Jay
Incase your unaware these destroyed cards and burnt houses
Thanks Jay I’ll make sure to pick one up in about 27 years when I can finally get a 40 series! 👍🔥
And in 35 years please contact me , I'll buy your used 40 series for reasonable price :)

Are they that hard still in certain areas? I picked my 4090 up from Best Buy over 2 months go off the shelf on a "Oh shit look what's in stock for MSRP" impulse buy but haven't seen stock really change in the several times I've been in since.

I remember hearing about these adapters during the great 4090 Fire, and all I saw was that they got delayed repeatedly. It's good that they're finally out, but I dunno if many people still care
For people like me who have large cases and don't care abou internal aesthetics I assume the answer is no. I *might* have cared about it prior to purchasing my 4090, but now that it's in my case and working, it doesn't matter to me at all.
Exactly this. When people were freaking out about the bending, this needed to come out ASAP. After a lot of reports of how to properly plug in the connector, I don't see this having much benefit other than looks.
I got mine a few days ago. I got a 180 degree for mine. Now the cable is straight and it looks good. 👌
I heard the Chicago fire of 1871 and the San Francisco fire of 1906 were both caused by poorly seated cables in 4090s.
Most 4090 owners probably have it figured out now. But we all know the next gen will still have the same issues so it’s good they are at least getting them out now
I think 90° adapters that direct the cable along the length of the card would be a cool idea too. Would make cables almost invisible if the power plug is at the end of the card.
But the reason all of the power adapters are in the middle because of the short pcb
@@nicholassprenke3353 yeah that is true currently, but if 12vhpwr becomes standard for all cards and not just Nvidia then there will eventually be some with plugs on the end. Hopefully there will be better stock cables by then too.
@@nicholassprenke3353 NVIDIA has used extensions in the past (RTX 2060 FE) and present (RTX 6000 Ada) to relocate the power plug.
I had one of those on my 1070
I'm glad I heard about the recall before I watched this video.
I per-ordered one of these when they made the announcement and got my adapter a week or so ago. It's a Variant -A 90 degree using it on my ASUS TUF 4090 and it works/fits perfectly. The metal back plate on the adapter is supposed to act as a little heat sink if you read the online instructions from scanning the QR code on the plastic wrapping.
Hi there, I also bought the adapter and I found, that under heavy load, the adapter is hot. The MSI Game Trio 4090 is hot too and the 12VHPWR connector, a bit warm. What happens in your system?
I bought the 180 degree one and it melted lol.
@@Kmaitland89 Yup mine did as well sadly. I saved my 4090 at least x.x

@@beatsbyshoro I got the "Corsair Premium 600W PCIe 5.0 / Gen 5 12VHPWR PSU Cable" from amazon and it's been smooth ever since. I check the connection once in a while to make sure it's still snug with no gaps between the plug and the 4090. No complaints after almost a year of use.
While I have no desire to use one of the 40 series cards (a variety of reasons, not fanboying), I am so thrilled to see that this type of hardware is now available. Frankly, I'm shocked it took this long. I have to imagine this is going to make builds (and safety) much easier for my Nvidea brethren.
Most motherboard plugs and cables could be routed behind the mobo with some adapters like this, especially nasty looking cables like the IO front panel and it's tiny headers. Companies like Asus overcharge on their motherboards to not have any solution on the IO
Their delay was that other solutions didn't meet their rigerous requirements so they had to custom-tool hardware to make it themselves, adding a few months' delay. But yeah, surprised we in general haven't seen this hit the market in the 3000 series days.
I wanted one of these for the 3090ti, glad to see it finally exists!
I have one of these for my 3090Ti FE....get one...
I got the 180 degree adapter for my Ghost S1 & 3090ti build and the little guy is stout. Highly recommend.
@@linebacker14R like why did you get one and why would you need one? If nvidia sends out a pigtail with 3 or 4 ends, that is the one to use to have full warranty for the product, not by using a 3rd party unit. My 4080oc does just fine. I had a 3090ti before that, but that card toasted it self, not the cable how ever.
I'm gonna have the only 4070 ti PC with a 6.5 inch width case. I customed my own glass Panel door which makes it .5 "wider where the door is (open air'ish).. but can't wait to put the damn thing on!
How you supposed to unclip that when the clip is on the bottom
These looks so good! For how long we've had discrete gpus with power cables, I'm surprised we're only just now getting a right angle connector. I wish these were the default connector for all cards
I've had a 90 degree on one computer and a 180 degree on my other computer for over two years now. Amazon has them in all styles and pin number configurations.
Apparently some engineers are not able to engineer anything. They just go with the flow and keep doing a lousy job while they improve nothing.
90 degree adapters have been a thing for ages bruh u living under a rock?
90 degrees adapters have been common for many years now. This is just the first 12VHPWR 90 degree adapter, since the 12VHPWR standard is new.
Should swivel allowing one to chain them all the way to the power supply if desired. Would make an extremely sick build using chained connectors in place of cables.
I figured out why I watch your videos... It's not for the content, because I can get basically the same content in from at least 10 other channels. It's because the way you look and talk makes me feel like I've known you all my life. You're a very warm person.

Did not, I’ve not been on my computer for three months because I had a 90° adapter from cable mod which melted the socket on the socket on my 4090.
LMAO
is this dangerous to use those adapter? cant you use the corsair cable by itself?
Can't wait to see them start adapting these for the 30xx cards!
Got a 180 'B' variant for my 4090 Suprim X. Very happy with how it looks and performs. Only thing I will say is thst the metal body of the connector itself gets quite warm, but nothing alarming.
Hi there, the same happens to me. When my MSI Gaming Trio 4090 is under heavy load, the adapter is hot. I would like that Cablemod publishes what temperature is within normal operation.
@@marcusvillaboim4705 my only concern is that it's a relatively small component with a lot of wattage going through it. The plastic around the 8 pin connectors and the connector on the gpu itself are cool to the touch. Don't know if we're being overly cautious, but the 4090 is an expensive piece of kit!
Nothing to worry about if it is warm, your 180 connector will prevent any sparks (electric arc), sparks are extremely hot and can melt plastic, kill the card and even start a fire. Always use the 90° or 180° adapters and you should be safe.
this video aged like rotten milk given the current situation with these connectors
I cannot believe nobody wrote an update or something on this. I mean, this thing that he claims everybody should get one killed hundreds of GPUs and the massacre is still going on since not everybody listened to the recall.

The 180 looks like the cleanest way to do a vertical mount, might have to pick one up.
It is. I have that setup.
I've been on the pre-order list for a 180 degree version for months, finally got mine plus a cablemod 4-into-1 12VHPWR cable this week for my 4090. Unfortunately it looks like I may have got a dud, the card will hang when both are used but when just the cable without the 180 degree adapter is used it works absolutely fine. Yes it was pushed in all the way. No it didn't have any bend or stress on it. It would just get warm to the touch and fail even with light stress testing. Harsher testing like Furmark it would hang within 5 minutes. But just the cable? Rock solid. I've requested an RMA. Don't get me wrong I love the quality of their cables and I think they're a good company, I'm just reporting my single case use of a failure.
wow, it's almost like this was one of my first ideas to fix the size and cable problems lol. Surprised it's taken this long but cool that it's here now, time to get back to gaming on my GTX980
Video aged like milk. These are melting cards now too
Bought both versions, both got recalled... Wish all the computer media sites like cnet, Tom's Hardware, would at least vet some alternatives that won't catch fire.
Oh well back to rocking the open side panel dust magnet machine!
I love this video. The visual of all the variants and how the connectors interact with them is something I could NOT find anywhere. Even on Cablemod's website. I didn't know both variants worked until this video. Such a saving grace. Thanks!
Moddiy has super flexible silicone jacket cables that are even lower profile than this and the even slimmer 180* one. I used it to fit my 4090 FE with only 15mm of clearance in my Sliger Cerberus X and no bending at all to fit it. The cable total height from the plug to how it naturally hangs is like 12.5mm. These are great too but for those who are space co strained by these massive gpus
Moddiy doesn't give Jay money. Sorry, had to say it, I'm fan of Jay, but he does make money from the affiliate links.
can you link the exact one that you bought from MODDIY?
Still kinda crazy to me how massive these are. Got the 4080 Suprim X despite knowing it would be a very tight fit, and I didn't fully realize how close it'd be until I installed it.
Yeah, I still can't get over how big these new cards are. Seeing him hold that card up is like holding a small log.... It's freaking huge!

Cable mods should have one store page for this adapter and make selecting the variant you wish to purchase a required field to make the “add to cart” button interactive.
That way you have to make the choice and it forces you to see that there are multiple variants, hopefully inspiring further research and avoiding the purchase of the wrong variant

I have 180 degree adapters for my 7900 XT. All three cables tucking cables back behind the vertical mount extremely clean with stock cables.
I feel like this will make the burning problem be 2x more prevalent, think about it… You have to worry about 2 connectors not one, if one is right and the other is wrong your going to see failure. Please like to reach more people🤯
That adapter sticks out even more then the plug on the original cable... An even better solution that everyone wants would be if the gpu manufacturers put the inlet on side of the card, so it would point towards the front of the case. Most cases would have a slot for cable management right there and you could easily hide the cable.
but because of the stupid thru-fan design that NV apparently is pushing, the option of having a power plug on the side is out.
Not possible as long the pcb is half the size of the cooler..
You can bend the cable so it's more flush than these, but you're putting a LOT of stress on the thing then and making it ever more likely it'll come loose from the pins and cause an arc.
Been Recalled, need to put an update out for this one mate
I have a 180 degree off brand set from Amazon that I use on my 3090. It’s great for cable management and it really helped with being able to put on the side panel on my q300l.
8:13 It's refreshing. It's always SSD drive this or LCD display that, but it's never Printed Circuit Board board
You are introducing an additional point of failure in exchange for aesthetics and minimal tangible benefits. There were many cases of right angled MB cable connectors burning out over prolonged use.
Are these the ones that CableMod has recalled? Twice?
I got one and 2 others for my friends, I’m surprised why nvidia didn’t do anything about it with their 4 to 1 connector, it’s super useful.
I've been using the 180 degree adapters for 8-pin for years. Both the clearance and aesthetic difference are unreal. If you have a vertical GPU, just nothing seems to be sticking out of it and you don't need to bother buying custom PCI-E power sleeved cables, because they won't be visible anyway so it's cost-efficient too. There are literally no downsides.
Absolutely and it takes all the pressure off the actual gpu plug, bonus
yup. i use 180 adapters in my hyte case. looks fantastic. still have custom cables because hyte cases you can see everything, but it looks super clean
@@GreenTurts My GPU power cable is tucked behind the vertical GPU and exits the front chamber immediately below the card, case is black, stock cables are black, so the only way you could see anything is if you shone a flashlight on that specific stretch of cabling from the front of the case, because not even RGB lighting makes the cable visually apparent.
I don't have a Hyte case, so maybe the GPU there is more offset to show more of the business between the GPU and the motherboard, in that case, sure, it would be warranted.
Got my adapter last week. Took a while but love the way it looks and functions.
My case fits the cable without bending too bad, happy for those who need this!
This aged like a carton of milk
I was thinking of one of these, but I got a Y60 with Cable Mod cables and I like seeing my red and black cables. Plus being vertical mount I didn’t have to make such an aggressive turn.
Just go with 4080 it has no issues
i like my type A 180 in silver using the basic black {no Sleaves} cable mod cable. I dont have the atx 3.0 psu so its 4 into 1 for the strix 4090. it hides the cable pretty well behind the card.
@@cyclechris6591 be careful with 4090

It makes perfect sense with A for above and B for below in terms of the clip orientation.
These are awesome, I loved using my EVGA 1080ti adaptors back in the day that could curve the cables to the front of the card.
every time Jay picked up one of those 40 series gpus I thought it was a concrete brick for a second
It would be nice to have 8 pin and 6 pin versions of this connector. Even better if they add capacitors or super capacitors for cleaner power like EVGA's Power Link. Thanks for the great content!
A good psu should entirely obviate the need for that though. There are right angle 1 and 2 8 pin adaptors that are similar.
They already exist. They even exist for the 24 pin motherboard connector. The idea of hiding wiring is older than the 40 series problem.
They have them. I use them in all my builds and the 24pin one plus the 8 pin MB power too. Much cleaner look. I even got a 90 for my USB 3 v2 header.
CableMod really cleaning up NVIDIA's mess
These have existed for 8 pin cards for a while, they would have made this regardless of how bad nvidia fucked up. Almost as if their whole business model is making wiring and connectors.
I got mine in the mail the other day. It definitely makes things look cleaner, Especially if your card is mounted vertically.
These things are a lifesaver. I bought a Asus RTX 4080 TUF last month, and while I knew it was going to be big, the actual size really surprised me. It was basically a perfect fit inside my NZXT S340 Elite, but I soon discovered that while lenght was not a problem, I had completely overlooked the depth, and the GPU was basically hugging the glass. Because of this, I was literally unable to put the glass panel back on after the power cable was wired up.
I happened to look online and when I came across these adapters, I immediatelly ordered one. Happy to report that with this adapter installed, I was just barely able to put the glass back on, after having it off for nearly a month. Makes you wonder why NVIDIA didn't include these from the beginning
Jay.. you should report on all these adapters that are.. you know.. melting.
You should take this down, cablemod has pulled this product because of issues it has.
i just commented saying the same but it's been 8 months so I doubt anything is gonna be done. I doubt Jay even checks these older video comments anyway.
I got mine the other day after pre-ordering. Overall I really like it (I mean.. I can close my case now), I think they're kinda crazy over priced for what they are and they do wobble a bit. But overall, I like it and I don't really have any other choices. haha
as long it it does not blow my computer up it couldda been $100 hehe
yeah, $40 was a bit much for it, but given the small market for it, it makes sense. At least it feels high quality and well made. Mine doesn't even wobble that much, so I'm happy with it. The 12vhpwr cable for my PSU I got at the same time left much more to be desired.
Yeah kind of the same like, yeah this is a *bit* of a premium price but for a custom adapter it makes sense, and it's absolutely solid quality.
endless possibilities of modding with these. You can now make cables look good inside of a case. thanks

Well this aged poorly.
bruh moment 😂😂😂
I just got a 4090 and thankfully I have a huge case that’s wide enough to support airflow. If your computer case isn’t wide enough I can see the 12pin plugs getting extremely hot because the gpu fan is directing that hot air directly above the 12pin power connector which will reflect off the side glass of your case and add more heat to that connector which already gets hot, just a side note 😊.
I own a zotac rtx4080 and ordered a 180 b variant in silver like in this video+ the direct 12vhpwr cable to my corsair psu. The problem is:cable mod are the only company with this solution and its expensive and 2 month of delivery time to germany. They are expensive but the plugs are even cooled by cooling pads.
these adapters are trash, and are constantly burning and melting cards, i see posts everyday on reddit, taking mine off my card was the best choice i ever made, dont buy this garbage

CableMod has sent me two of these, separately. They ship from China, and both were lost by FedEx in USA. I made a request to CableMod to send one in a "Shoe Box" sized box instead of an envelope - maybe this third one will not get lost. Fingers crossed.
4:14 yes, I member. I wish there were a variants C and D that turns the connector another 90 degrees on the 180 degree variants to run along the backplate towards the cable grommet. I don't know if I'm explaining it well, but on the 180 degree version you still have to bend the cable 90 degrees to run along the back plate of a vertical mounted card towards the end of the card where the grommet/holes are. Nit picky? Very. Either way, I'm glad there's a company going the extra mile for things like this that are a complete oversight from the OEMs/AIBs.
Just more clarification on what I mean in a wordier way: If a card is vertical mounted and you're looking at it from the front of the card where the fans are, the 180 degree adapter first turns 90 degrees horizontally, then another 90 degrees vertically (down). What I was referring to was at the ending point, make another 90 degree bend to the right so that the plug attaches horizontally coming from the right. (where the grommets are, opposite side of the I/O) So it eliminates all cable bends except for the one going through the grommet routing to the PSU. One day we're going to have as many types of power adapters as there are water cooling adapters to eliminate any and every possible bend. lol
From there web site. It has come to our attention that certain CableMod 12VHPWR Angled Adapter V1.1s may be defective. We have since decided to discontinue sales of our angled adapters. We will be conducting a voluntary safety recall for all CableMod 12VHPWR 90 ̊ and 180 ̊Angled Adapters V1.0 and all CableMod 12VHPWR 90 ̊ and 180 ̊ Angled Adapters V1.1 because of the potential risk that the male connector could become loose, overheat, and melt into the GPU.
