    Those crusty old DMU's.
Such a decrepit and unloved line into London; thank god Chiltern Railways came along and rescued it!

I was one of the sad who commuted to London in the 80's, those trains were always breaking down, I was never sure what time I'd get home. British Rail were always on time with their fare increases though.

This is a reminder of how scruffy and run down both the station and the rolling stock looked thirty plus years ago. It was to be another five years until it was privatised and dragged kicking and screaming into the soon to be 21st century by Chiltern Railways.

British Rail completed the modernization of the line complete with new trains in 1992 five years before Chiltern Railways took over.
