Y’all say that wii version was your childhood, but I grew up with the ds version. And to the small child I was back then, it was INCREDIBLY difficult completing the game. I remember all the blood and sweat I put into it until it finally paid off.
I was actually better at the DS version but it does seem harder than the Wii looking back at it. I remember I only got as far as the beginning of World 8, I didn't make it far through World 7 but I did World 4.
What I liked about world 8 in NSMB DS was the fact that the first levels focused on a more desolate and haunted feeling. Once you think you’ve defeated Bowser for good, you realize it’s not the end, and that’s when the lava begins. The final castle was genius with its weird switches.
In ds, I fondly remember beating the last castle with using the blue shell. It was overpowered in some aspects, but of course then there's the mega mushroom which is pretty self explanatory
Best level is definitely the original, it just messes with your head so much, no progress metre for the first part, upside down rooms and a load of backtracking

But compared to NSMBU where you actually get to fight him while stile feeling that hopeless feel that NSMBW gave you,it just doesn’t stand up to it. But then of course I think color splash and origami king are better then TTYD so I guess I’m weird (I don’t feel like arguing why those are better then the old games)

I like the NSMBU/NSLU final battle because you actually get to fight instead of just evading. When I played the final battle a lot on NSMB Wii, I said, “I’m getting tired of evading him all the time! I want to fight this guy!”

As someone who's played all of I gotta say the Ds is the hardest of all by far , some levels were nearly unbeatable and there were like four power ups , the small mushroom , the fire flower , the blue turtle and the giant mushroom . Nothing too flashy . I used to finish it completely with all the stars , not play for a weak , play only mini games , and then start a new one to just finish it again .
