Yeahhh this was odd. Did I see a Pomeranian in there...? Bit too small for kids. I mean maybe if trained super well and not a Toy breed... I have a husky I’m training to be a therapy dog and woah what a challenge having worked with a German Shepherd before hand. He is very well trained but man- he hates it when babies cry so he will howl, he’s five months, and I understand he’s a husky but that needs to get under control ASAP. He’s amazing with children and people, but woah, if there’s food involved there’s no stopping him, so we must get that fixed aswell. They’re also the literal worst dog breed or off leash training so that’s not a plus, but we are determined.
Shay Rose my dog is Pomeranian and French bull dog. Yes they are small dogs but Pomeranians are super sweet dogs and like cuddling at-least my dog is, I don’t know about full breed Pomeranians thought
For a channel called PetGuide - I don't think you guys know the idiosyncrasies of different breeds, or what therapy dogs vs. service dogs (vs. emotional support dogs) actually are. First, you showed Greyhounds at #3, which I agree with, only you showed ZERO Greyhounds - you showed Whippets and an Italian Greyhound. All VERY distinct breeds, all VERY distinct characteristics. I own an Italian Greyhound, and she is NOTHING like standard Greyhounds or Whippets in temperament (and that's neither good nor bad, just different). You did the same with the category of "poodle" - Standards have VERY different personalities and temperaments than Toys, and that makes a huge difference for a therapy dog - it's not "they're all the same, just different sizes." Secondly, you have to be kidding with no Golden Retriever. Honestly. Look up ANY children's hospital therapy dog videos here on RUclips....more likely than not, there'll be a Golden in it. Who compiled this list, good grief.................
I work in therapy, and I can say that any dog can be a therapy dog. That being said, the two biggest omissions were the Golden Retriever and the Pitbull. Both are super friendly to people and I have seen more of them than any other dog breed in therapy organizations. Also, Whippets were shown in the greyhound section, there was not a single greyhound there. I also want to add that Beagles, Collies, German Shepherds and Labs will only be good therapy dogs if their owners are experienced dog handlers that understand how to socialize well and early in the dog's development. Otherwise all four of these breeds become difficult to manage and in the case of German Shepherds, withdrawn from people outside their immediate family members.
What if the Therapeutic Emotion Support dog is trained in Service Dog Training Tasks for someone who can not function around holidays can't go to stores then, but outside of that can function during other times of year. The cost of a Service Dog for none Veterans is out of reach for so many. Suffering for many years of it. There are times I would need to have a Service Dog to function, but times it be just fine with an Emotional Support dog. I can afford private training for an emotional support dog that will have private task training like that of a Service Dog, however the training facilities charge is to out of reach for me, yet society denies an Emotional Support dog trained in tasking like that of a Service Dog same privelge when people like me can't go anywhere during November into January without suffering and stores with Holiday triggers make it impossible to get groceries. But thats okay because your not able to afford an acknowledged Service dog, yet a trained tasking emotional support dog isint good enough to same standards, even if its recieved tasking training that during the holiday season would allow the sufferer the ability of relief to go into stores, malls and gatherings, but no our trained Emotional Support part Service Dog is not good enough. Happy Holidays while those with PTSD on assistance suffer because of the restrictions on who is and is not allowed into stores. Even with task badages and badages that say dog is working and some disabilities aren't seen, that they are tasking not to disrupt, because its on an emotional support dog properly trained in some forums of Service Dog tasking we are bared from stores and helpless during the holidays based on biased opinions of who does and doesn't get special treatment of exception. I'm a woman who's suffered since I was a baby from CPTSD I starve rather than go grocery shopping for myself during holidays because I can't afford an acknowledged Service Dog, even if I had a Emotional Support dog trained in Service Dog tasking the dogs not given equal acknowledgement and I'm helpless unable to function in society during holidays. There are no free Service Dog or Emotional Support Tasking dog programs for us suffers, but the country has no problem with offering such to Veterans. I support Veterans yet suffering for 37 years from day I was born, society has given up on those with CPTSD and PTSD who had to suffer through it and not end their lives because society, family, medical companies, our government has failed us.
Totally agree on pit bulls. I have trained 3 therapy dogs myself, and I'm fostering a pit bull that I've trained to be able to pass the therapy dog test. But, of course, someone else is going to get her. She would make a wonderful therapy dog. Also, I have a Pyrador (Great Pyrenees and Labrador mix) who absolutely can't be beat as a therapy dog.
you didn't show any greyhounds when you were talking about them? you showed a few whippets and an italian greyhound, which are all sighthounds but significantly different from greyhounds
When I think of German Shepherds I always think of my first dog. Had her since I was born. She was a therapy dog so when I developed Depression at a young age she was great.
She was not your therapy dog. Therapy dogs do not work for one person, they only work with many people in hospitals, schools and nursing homes. Your dog was an emotional support animal.
Almost all good therapy dogs come from lines of guard dog, hunting companion dog, or toy dog because of their especially emphasized traits and characteristics of companionship for centuries, indoor dogs are relatively new.
S A D - E G G I have constant pain from autoimmune diseases. My Pug helps me sooo much! He acts like he knows when my pain is extreme,if I'm stressed or depressed. I don't think I could get through a day without him. I love how he likes to be velcroed to me. The fact I can take him anywhere and he behaves. He loves people and attention, especially from kids.
Pitbulls should be on this list. Nothing could make you feel safer then having one of those next to you with Anxiety. I had one as an ESA before Australia had a complete ban of pittys. Now i have a Bull Arab (Australian Hunting Breed) as my ESA.
My experience has been that putbulls can be extremely reactive & rhey can charge at another dog for no reason. I won't let my 20lb havanese near any putbulls bc their genetic temperament is unreliable.
@@karenflanagan1597 I completely understand your reservations. Your statement is valid, alot of pit bulls are not stable because first time owners get them and don't socialise them properly, know how to fulfil them so they lash out. Pit bulls need to be controlled on a government level. In Australia they banned them completely (many just label them American Staffordshire's and have no problem owning them now) but why couldn't we do what we did with greyhounds? They have to have a certification to be able to go on a walk without a muzzle.
Detecting cancer and other conditions, beagles have the strongest smelling apparatus of all dogs which is why they are commonly utilized as a drug/bomb detection dog. Adding to that nature with their high intelligence, are amazing emotional support dogs ❤️
My dog is a Pomeranian FrenchBull dog mix and I was wondering if she still would be a good emotional support dog because of the Pomeranian in her? Her name is kona and she is 9 almost 10 months old if i train her well would she be able to be my emotional support dog Edit: I forgot to mention that she’s a great Cuddler and is really sweet but sometimes hyper when wanting to play can she still do it tho?
Why didn't shih Tzu make the list?😞 Shih tzus are small and very fluffy and similar to poodles they are hypoallergenic and shed very little, as in they only shed when you brush them kinda like humans do. They are very sweet and they LOVE EVERYBODY☺ I have found them to be very smart. And they are just absolutely adorable. They have slightly longer life spans than many larger breeds of dogs, they live on average 15 years, but can live to be 20 years old The biggest thing for me is they are SOOOOOOOOO ADORABLE They are so fluffy and cute who wouldn't smile seeing one😀 So #1 therapy dog......right? 😀 Well, nice video. Dogs are pawsome
1. Labrador retriever 2. German Shepherd 3. Greyhound 4. Beagle 5. Rottweiler 6. Cardigan Welsh Corgi 7. Pomeranian 8. Poodles 9. Pug 10. Collie I don’t disagree with any breed on this list but where is the golden retriever or vizsla?
A Rottweiler as a therapy dog oh please I have one I’ve always had one I’ve had threes they are aggressive even when they aren’t tryna be would be scared it bit somebody in public having it as a therapy dog
I am shocked by this list. All the pomeranian & chihuahuas I've know have been extremely yapping, reactive dogs, which is a Therapy Dog Exam fail. Havanese are sweet natured, intelligent, friendly & make phenomenal TDs. They should rank closely to poodle.
I have Lilah, who is 3/4 Collie 1/4 Chow who is the first PSYCHIATRIC EMOTIONAL SERVICE DOG IN S. A. TRAINED BY LUCY BREYTENBACH FROM JUST DOGS IN CAPE TOWN, LILAH WAS FEATURED IN THE FEBRUARY 2020 FAIRLADY, SINCE SHE WALKED INTO MY LIFE, I HAVE NOT TRIED TO OD AGAIN, SO ANY DOG HAS THE ABILITY TO BECOME A SERVICE DOG, ASK LUCY, LILAH WAS A RESCUE DOG, SO WHY DO YOU JUST MENTION THE HIGHLY PEDIGREE DOGS, ALL DOGS GETTING THE RIGHT TRAINING CAN BE A THERAPY DOG, Annie Roberts, Cape Town
This sounds like a list for Emotional Support Dogs more than Therapy Dogs... How can they spell shepHERD wrong? And not list Goldens ? "poodles pick up on their owners anxieties" That's an emotional support dog, not a therapy dog.... Very disappointed in this video...
NO. NOPE. german shepards hard to control, loud unpredicble, and biters. labs have major health issues, and can bit nippy.goldies are AWESOME...pugs are best, quiet, generally harmless, and slow..and like people..
I can't believe the Golden Retriever is not listed. Most therapy dogs I see in hospitals are goldens. That has to mean something.
Yeah this list was a bit odd. The Golden is one of the top breeds when it comes to therapy dogs.
Edgar Reynoso I know they’re the best
Yeahhh this was odd. Did I see a Pomeranian in there...? Bit too small for kids. I mean maybe if trained super well and not a Toy breed... They probably just grouped them with the lab
GOLDEN RETRIEVERS NEED TO BE IN THIS LIST.
Delores Emeagi no
I agree! And Cavaliers.

JessBeautyJunkie thanks for the information.
Yup

Yea, I thought the pit bull was missing. I think people are scared to list them because of the stigma but they are super loving and affectionate.
Yeah but people who have a esa people are like " NOOOOO they can't be esa cuz there killers!"
Kristen Mahoney Are the poodles true? I really want one

i have a standard poodle and I have struggled with bad anxiety and he's really helped me feel safe and calm
Any dog can be good if raised properly. The golden retriever was an obvious omission from this list.
Why no Golden retrievers?
you didn't show any greyhounds when you were talking about them? you showed a few whippets and an italian greyhound, which are all sighthounds but significantly different from greyhounds
YES. YES. YES. ^^^ This.
Omg I love your little Japanese chin at the end of the video. They’re both so cute 🥰
Best dog I have ever owned was a rottie. Thank you for including them in your list.
I legit screamed “YASS TWO FREE TACOS” when beagles came on screen because my ESA is a beagle.
This video made me so happy seeing all these sweet dogs being all cute
I think the service dog should be the right dog for the owner. My blue heeler/border collie is perfect for my anxiety and keeping me grounded.
Service dogs are NOT therapy dogs.
My dog is a beagle and he loooovvveeesss people so much if he sees a person he wants to be with them immediately so they can pet him
I have a yorkypoo, best therapy dog ever. Very loyal, very cuddly, very protective.
Therapy dogs do not work for one person, they only work with many people in institutional settings.
When I think of German Shepherds I always think of my first dog. Had her since I was born. She was a therapy dog so when I developed Depression at a young age she was great.
GSDs are wonderful dogs - I'm glad she gave you comfort
She was not your therapy dog. Therapy dogs do not work for one person, they only work with many people in hospitals, schools and nursing homes. Your dog was an emotional support animal.
Oh...❣️ wonderful,lovable,kind therapy dogs 💚🐾🐾
Great I have a beagador beagle/Labrador mix
“Seriously what can’t the lab do?”
Me:mine can’t swim.....🤦🏼♀️😂😂🐶
Also I’m happy German shepherds where on here I got excited cuz I LOVEEE them😂
Almost all good therapy dogs come from lines of guard dog, hunting companion dog, or toy dog because of their especially emphasized traits and characteristics of companionship for centuries, indoor dogs are relatively new.
Dustin VanderMost so husky is good
my BICHON FRISE helped with my ocd and depression❤
omg I'm so glad pug made it on the list. I have a pug and he helps with my depression
What about Golden retrievers are they good therapy dogs.
1:19 the Cermats Cer-Mam only Jenna Marbles will understand
Golden retriever????
All dogs are well in providing us comfort and affection when they are trained properly.
Golden retrievers are by far the best qualified as number 1
Pitbulls should be on this list. Nothing could make you feel safer then having one of those next to you with Anxiety. I had one as an ESA before Australia had a complete ban of pittys. Now i have a Bull Arab (Australian Hunting Breed) as my ESA.

Bassett Hound? I think they would be similar to a Beagle in terms of temperament. My Bassett loves people is calm.
I know the Maltese did not make your list (years has past). Do you think a Maltese would be an excellent Emotional Support Dog?
Labradoodles (because they’re another great hypoallergenic breed) and golden retrievers should definitely be on this list
I'll jump on here too . GOLDEN RETRIEVER!! AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD ?? Wow what a list ???
Detecting cancer and other conditions, beagles have the strongest smelling apparatus of all dogs which is why they are commonly utilized as a drug/bomb detection dog. Adding to that nature with their high intelligence, are amazing emotional support dogs ❤️
Where is Newfoundland’s? I’m a show dog handler and have worked with newfies before they make perfect therapy dogs!!
I need to make a part 2 for this list.
My dog is a Pomeranian FrenchBull dog mix and I was wondering if she still would be a good emotional support dog because of the Pomeranian in her? Her name is kona and she is 9 almost 10 months old if i train her well would she be able to be my emotional support dog
Edit: I forgot to mention that she’s a great Cuddler and is really sweet but sometimes hyper when wanting to play can she still do it tho?
I’m thinking about making my corgi a therapy dog
Just a question how about a Boston Terrier.
I am very surprised that Cavaliers weren't on your list.
y'all put the same dogs in all these lists. Does your bot not have access to more footage of other breeds?
Why didn't shih Tzu make the list?😞
Shih tzus are small and very fluffy and similar to poodles they are hypoallergenic and shed very little, as in they only shed when you brush them kinda like humans do.
They are very sweet and they LOVE EVERYBODY☺

So #1 therapy dog......right? 😀
Well, nice video.
Dogs are pawsome
Agree with all of those, but I’d add the Cavalier King Charles. They’re like a mini Cocker Spaniel only lazier.
I'm surprised that the Old English Sheepdog, and the Saint Bernard wasn't on the list.
Can't believe the Golden Retriever does not make this list.
1. Labrador retriever
2. German Shepherd
3. Greyhound
4. Beagle
5. Rottweiler
6. Cardigan Welsh Corgi
7. Pomeranian
8. Poodles
9. Pug
10. Collie
I don’t disagree with any breed on this list but where is the golden retriever or vizsla?
German Shepherd and Rottweiller is My Favourite Dog
Gsd`s are awesome.
Rough,smooth and border collies
What about Shelties?
I thought Old English was in this list!
U said cardigan welsh corgi what about Pembroke welsh corgis?
i have both combined labradoodle
A Rottweiler as a therapy dog oh please I have one I’ve always had one I’ve had threes they are aggressive even when they aren’t tryna be would be scared it bit somebody in public having it as a therapy dog
Awe some my dog is a Pomeranian cross with a pug
I don't think you know what a therapy dog is!
I was surprised Pomeranians are service dogs, they bite and yap at anything bigger then them, I guess any dog can be trained! 😊
YASSS I HAVE A PUG
Also my poodle leaves scars on my face
German Shepherd because they are nice really nice
No boxer golden or collie
I am shocked by this list. All the pomeranian & chihuahuas I've know have been extremely yapping, reactive dogs, which is a Therapy Dog Exam fail. Havanese are sweet natured, intelligent, friendly & make phenomenal TDs. They should rank closely to poodle.
This list seems to strongly misunderstand ESA and therapy dog..
Golden Retriever should be the first
Border collie are the best kind of collie
Why was the golden retriever not in the top ten? They make good service dogs. That is why I gave you a thumbs down.
the videos not about service dogs its about therapy dogs
1:19 Cermet ya nasty boi is dat you?
I have Lilah, who is 3/4 Collie 1/4 Chow who is the first PSYCHIATRIC EMOTIONAL SERVICE DOG IN S. A. This list isn’t complete without a Dachshund dog.
you forgot the GOLDEN RETRIEVER...WHY????
Forgot about samoyed
Also no newfoundland's not sure this list is close to correct
I think if rottweiler was in this list golden retriever had to be too
Once this farce ended and the Golden was not on this list, it immediately nullified any credibility this channel had
This sounds like a list for Emotional Support Dogs more than Therapy Dogs... How can they spell shepHERD wrong? And not list Goldens ? "poodles pick up on their owners anxieties" That's an emotional support dog, not a therapy dog.... Very disappointed in this video...
Rottweilers are the best!!!
Rotti love people . . yeah right . . their owners sure
King Charles Caviliar?
aj samoyed - to už hej
LIKE THOSE WHO WANTS GOLDEN RETRIVER TO BE PART OF THE LIST
She only said "butt" once in this video!
I need some service dog breeds for POTS
Please tell me some ideas down in the comments.
Thumbs 👎..coz you didn't include golden retriever..
This narrator is so patronising.
My brothers ex girlfriends pug, is evil, she is not good with children
Omg now I don't want to subscribe coz i wanna see the dogs
Guys calm down, they cant get every dog breed in the list.
NO. NOPE. german shepards hard to control, loud unpredicble, and biters. labs have major health issues, and can bit nippy.goldies are AWESOME...pugs are best, quiet, generally harmless, and slow..and like people..
Why labs? I hate labs
