S G Well my mini is very laid back and calm. She’s been like that ever since she was a puppy. The standard is a handful! She is 5 and still acts like a puppy. She tugs on the leash and barks at people and she also runs around our entire house trying to get the other 2 to play. When she calms down she’s great. She loves to cuddle and swim. The giant is older and we actually adopted her from a lady who showed her, but she is also very calm. She still acts young though and she swims and plays with the standard. Hope that helps!

She barks at strange noises and loves to hunt. She is on the farm, so if a rabbit is near, she will chase it for a while. She seems to have the instincts of what she was bred to do.
I had the most beautiful miniature schanuzer named woody! i got him when he was 8 weeks old just a month ago aged nine we lost him to lung cancer. so devastated, such a lovely little dog to lose, i loved him so so much
Yes. My schnauzer is very chill. He doesn’t even want to walk. He is a very jealous, he is so old now and all the time he is angry with everyone except with me ❤️
I have had this wonderful breed for years now. Owners should keep in mind that this breed gets bladder stones easily, esp.males so you should have the dog checked for crystals in the urine yearly or put the dog on an SO urinary diet. I lost a dog to this in the '80s as no one told me about this condition. He died of bladder stones and could not urinate correctly. Also, they are prone to get infected teeth or tartar and must have REGULAR DAILY brushing. Very important! It is a breed that is known to have dental problems even if you brush them. I brush the teeth near every day and still the dog had to have some teeth pulled last Fall and it was $1300 to have done, plus the dog had a tumor in his upper mouth. Please consider what I am sharing so you keep your dog in great shape!
I have a mini also. I really love this breed. No shedding. Wow! I can't believe no hair all over me or the house. She is super affectionate.to me to others not so much. Doesn't like visitors, but if you tell OK she allows it. Will bark and guard her territory. Best little watch dog in town.
I had one for 15 years. I miss him. He was playful and a great companion. It makes me want another, but I have to wait a few years. The benefits of this breed should convince people to seriously consider one over the more popular breeds that tend to be bigger and shed a lot.
tudorjason I had one for 14 yrs and I waited for 3 yrs to get my now dog. He is 9 now and I’m looking to get another one soon. I went through great mourning after my first one died.
@@Barkley2010 When my dogs are middle aged (6/7 years old) I get another puppy, so I almost always have two around. It helps a lot to have a dog to comfort you when you're mourning another :(
Just found out that my 'Havanese" is a Schnoodle! Half miniature schnauzer and half poodle! Incredibly intelligent and lovable. Extremely obedient! Love you! Love him!
Make sure y'all ask your vets about bladder stones... my mini got very ill. She was peeing everywhere after we took her outside and it was a brown color. She is better now after 2 very terrifying surgeries. Vet told us she wasn't going to make it thru... I thank God she is alive. Vet put Hanna on royal canine Urinary SO dog food. It has helped our Hanna with her stones. It is a bit expensive but well worth. Hanna has to be checked now every 6 months for stones.
Angela Hernandez I hear ya! My miniature schnauzer, Barkley, had 13 bladder stones and had to have surgery. I thought he was gonna die! I was scared to death. I noticed I saw no urine coming out and he was panting vigorously. That was 3 yrs ago and I changed his diet. He is so sweet. ❤️
My schnauzer is super energetic with me but can be very aggressive or shy towards other dogs. She’s really loyal and affectionate and basically follows me around every day. She’s my best friend and I love her so much. I was never a dog person but I’m so happy to have her.
Mini Schnauzers are great trackers also. I used to play (Track Me) with my dog all the time. At that time I owned a townhouse, so I would let the dog outside to the fenced in patio. Then I would go upstairs, walk thru bedroom 1, then go to bedroom 2, then come downstairs and walk around the kitchen, then go back upstairs walk around the bathroom, then come downstairs and let the dog inside. She would track my trail perfectly, upstairs, downstairs, upstairs, downstairs again and then sit and wait for her milk bone flavor snacks. She was a really fun dog to have.. Also when it came to obedience training, I had her sit, lay, rollover, and then sit again and wait for her Flavor Snacks. So everytime I asked to sit she would do everything, all 4 commands and then wait for her Flavor Snacks. She was a great, great dog.
Have had a M S now for 11 years. He has the all the same habits as yours. He is extremely social with people and animals except cats. Loves kids. Wants to say hi to everyone.
I LOVE my mini schnauzer! Her name is Macy. She is super chill, loves to nap, and very caring. However, she does have a bad temper. When guests come to visit she gets really upset and barks extremely loud for a good 5 minutes.

Great video. we put our Skye Terrier down today. My heart is broken. We had a Mini Schnauzer years ago and Sammi was a fun dog. She loved me but she would get mad and poop in my shoes. Imagine her backing up and aiming. Thinking about another Mini once the tears dry up.
My experience is that every Schnauzer is different but this guy is correct in that they mirror the owner or household they are in. My house is generally a very quiet and laid-back home so mine is the same way but the moment my high energy nephew and nieces come over shes up and about running like crazy with the kids . She's also very smart and easy to train who also loves everyone and everything including cats. Doesn't chew or dig things she shouldn't but thats more to do with training as i taught her early on what was ok to chew on or not. Barking wise she's not very yappy but will still bark occasionally at people she doesn't know which i've also trained her to not be to excessive with

I have had 4 miniature schnauzers that have filled my life with joy, unconditional love, and companionship. All but one have been rescue and most often there has been a cross over with 2 of my dogs. From Brody to Jake to Lily to Simon. I still have Simon and he is 10 years old and an active happy health companion. I love this breed! They are so loyal, Uber intelligent, easily trainable, social, and most are little love bugs! They are so smart and trainable and do not shead. Brody lived till he was 12. Jake was 15!! And my only girl Lily died at 9 1/2. She had health issues. I still have Simon and he is a super active awesome 10 year old. I think we have many more years to go. This breed is amazing. I want to go to schnauzer heaven when I die.
Try a jack Russell mini schnauzer mix 😂 I have that and my dog needs his own sitcom his personality is just out there and the upset tummy thing he has that too so I watch what he eats
I think my Lily was a jack russell/mini schnauzer mix. Do you have pic you'd share. Mine looked mostly like a schnauzer but had a thin coat and was black and white and a wild woman. Major bladder stone issues. She was a spit fire!! Silly Lily!!

My mini schnauzer Conor, is a little different in temperament but some similarities, he is very very smart and human like and is constantly up my butt & affectionate. He is super protective of me though and will bark at someone walking in the house or passed the house, he has a very watch dog like instinct and he actually let me know an intruder was entering my house before, I love him, love all Schnauzer’s they are the best!
My girlfriend has one, and she's really won me over. She's really smart. Was a little suspicious of me at first, but now she's my buddy. Even the dog, too!!
I have two miniature schnauzer. I don't like saying I "own" them because they are like family to me. Not just some moving thing I paid for that is mine you know. I treat them like they were my own kids. They always spend time with me. They have never attempted to bite me. Their mood is always exactly like mine. For some reason. They are very loyal and listen to me over any other. I have no problem giving them a shower. And they listen to my instructions without thinking twice. They'll behave depending on how you raise/treat them. They are very loyal partners

My 8yo mini white schnauzer very active n loyal.I have 2 yellow birds n she loves them,every morning she will ask me to take the birds out for sunbath,she can spend hours staring at those birds,so adorable 😊
My mini was not dog like AT ALL. I love her to bits, but sometimes I wonder what species of animal she really is. She is independent some days and stuck to me and won't leave my side depending on her mood haha. Very moody but always sweet if that makes sense. The most intelligent pet I have ever had in my life. Awful skin problems and very sensitive stomach.

Miniature Schnauzers are the best! I like to describe them as a "large-breed dog in a small body!" Mine are not yappy like other smaller dogs, travel well, and are total "people dogs." I love this breed I had my Roscoe for 13 yrs best dog I ever had he thought he was human 2 of us has asthma so he did not shed I had a lab and he was such a nightmare I am trying to find a rescue don't want go the puppy route these dogs are amazing

I love my miniature schnauzer. She is definitely part cat, part human. Smart as a whip. Athletic. Independent. And cuddly when she chooses to be. She adores my husband and I, but doesn't let strangers in easily. As for food, we feed raw. And veggies and fruits for snacks. She is in amazing shape at 12.5 years old, still walks over an hour each morning and goes on big hikes. I can never have another breed, team schnauzer all the way!
I've owned 4 miniature schnauzers. Brody, Jake, Lily and Simon. I still have Simon and he's 11 and still going strong. Besides being beautiful they are super smart, love to learn, have a lot of energy but are just as happy staying low key by your side when you're not feeling well. Good with kids, other pets, don't shed. Can have kidney/bladder stones and eye problems. Best little watch dogs and love love love you like crazy. Im planning on them all greeting me in heaven again some day as long as I get there. lol!!
viewed video and reviewed comments as I am strongly considering calling a breeder this week that has 3 males left in liter. I know all dogs come with health concerns but I am seeing a thread here in comments regarding gall stones and this breed and its making me have doubts about this breeds health. Was this an issue with any of your four minis?
@@FINEST-uk8nc Just my female Lily. She had two surgeries. I lost her early at only 9 1/2. Otherwise all three males never had them. Jake lived to be 15 even after having a mild stroke at 12 years of age and just died of old age. Brody lived to be 13 and died of cancer. We all die of something. And Simon is 11 years, 2 months and vet said he's in perfect health. Females tend to have bladder and kidney stones more than the males. I would not let that be a deal breaker. Once you go Schnauzer you're hooked for life like myself. Good luck. Sounds like any dog will be blessed to share his or her life with you.
I have a white mini schnauzer and I absolutely love her so much. She is 11 now and I just wish I could stop her from getting any older. I also have a puppy mini yorkie and I have to say that my schnauzer was a lot easier to house train and I think she is also smarter than the Yorkie. She has been very healthy, I have never had to take her to the vet because of a health issue, she never looses hair. She is not as affectionate as other dogs and would rather be on her own than with a lot of people and also tends to be a little bit aggressive every once in a while, however, she has never been aggressive towards me and she has never bitten me. She is a great house protector, but when we got her when I was little we were not very well informed of the breed and didn't know they are made to hunt, so it was kind of shocking the two times she managed to kill a dove in our backyard. I love her so much and unfortunately, I moved for college so I haven't seen her in almost a year but I can`t wait to see her again. Not to mention that she is gorgeous and her fur is so soft and shiny she almost looks like white silver 💕💕💕 thank you for the video!

I love my Reggie! He thinks he's a human. I've had him since he was a month and 1/2. He is now 8. My best friend!!

Kaowie is super social. Hes like a puppy all the time. If im not around he barks all day till i get back. Loves car rides, walkies and food.

I think my Lily was a jack russell/mini schnauzer mix. Do you have pic you'd share. Mine looked mostly like a schnauzer but had a thin coat and was black and white and a wild woman. Major bladder stone issues. She was a spit fire!! Silly Lily!!

My mini schnauzer Conor, is a little different in temperament but some similarities, he is very very smart and human like and is constantly up my butt & affectionate. He is super protective of me though and will bark at someone walking in the house or passed the house, he has a very watch dog like instinct and he actually let me know an intruder was entering my house before, I love him, love all Schnauzer’s they are the best!
My girlfriend has one, and she's really won me over. She's really smart. Was a little suspicious of me at first, but now she's my buddy. Even the dog, too!!
I have two miniature schnauzer. I don't like saying I "own" them because they are like family to me. Not just some moving thing I paid for that is mine you know. I treat them like they were my own kids. They always spend time with me. They have never attempted to bite me. Their mood is always exactly like mine. For some reason. They are very loyal and listen to me over any other. I have no problem giving them a shower. And they listen to my instructions without thinking twice. They'll behave depending on how you raise/treat them. They are very loyal partners

I have a 7 month old miniature schnauzer and she is the complete opposite of this cutie. Gigi barks at other dogs, people, and just about everything lol! She is very loving, energetic, and playful.

My 8yo mini white schnauzer very active n loyal.I have 2 yellow birds n she loves them,every morning she will ask me to take the birds out for sunbath,she can spend hours staring at those birds,so adorable 😊

My mini was not dog like AT ALL. I love her to bits, but sometimes I wonder what species of animal she really is. She is independent some days and stuck to me and won't leave my side depending on her mood haha. Very moody but always sweet if that makes sense. The most intelligent pet I have ever had in my life. Awful skin problems and very sensitive stomach.
Soo cute! The dog too. But really though, just got my mini Schnauzer pup last june. She's been a handful. She's very energetic and loves to play fetch. Will she become more chill as she gets older?
Miniature Schnauzers are the best! I like to describe them as a "large-breed dog in a small body!" Mine are not yappy like other smaller dogs, travel well, and are total "people dogs." Their personality is larger than life and their loyalty to their family is heartwarming.

I love this breed I had my Roscoe for 13 yrs best dog I ever had he thought he was human 2 of us has asthma so he did not shed I had a lab and he was such a nightmare I am trying to find a rescue don't want go the puppy route these dogs are amazing

Rita looks just like a mini schnauzer that we used to have name Bailey who passed away in 2016 at the age of 16. We really miss her.
My mini used to pull the tissues out of the garbage, too! He would always do it at night when I was sleeping, and I could never catch him in the act!

I love my miniature schnauzer. She is definitely part cat, part human. Smart as a whip. Athletic. Independent. And cuddly when she chooses to be. She adores my husband and I, but doesn't let strangers in easily. As for food, we feed raw. And veggies and fruits for snacks. She is in amazing shape at 12.5 years old, still walks over an hour each morning and goes on big hikes. I can never have another breed, team schnauzer all the way!

I've owned 4 miniature schnauzers. Brody, Jake, Lily and Simon. I still have Simon and he's 11 and still going strong. Besides being beautiful they are super smart, love to learn, have a lot of energy but are just as happy staying low key by your side when you're not feeling well. Good with kids, other pets, don't shed. Can have kidney/bladder stones and eye problems. Best little watch dogs and love love love you like crazy. Im planning on them all greeting me in heaven again some day as long as I get there. lol!!
viewed video and reviewed comments as I am strongly considering calling a breeder this week that has 3 males left in liter. I know all dogs come with health concerns but I am seeing a thread here in comments regarding gall stones and this breed and its making me have doubts about this breeds health. Was this an issue with any of your four minis?
@@FINEST-uk8nc Just my female Lily. She had two surgeries. I lost her early at only 9 1/2. Otherwise all three males never had them. Jake lived to be 15 even after having a mild stroke at 12 years of age and just died of old age. Brody lived to be 13 and died of cancer. We all die of something. And Simon is 11 years, 2 months and vet said he's in perfect health. Females tend to have bladder and kidney stones more than the males. I would not let that be a deal breaker. Once you go Schnauzer you're hooked for life like myself. Good luck. Sounds like any dog will be blessed to share his or her life with you.

Does the baby have any toys? Ours had a toy basket and sometimes he would even put them back on his own. He also liked to watch TV.
I have a white mini schnauzer and I absolutely love her so much. She is 11 now and I just wish I could stop her from getting any older. I also have a puppy mini yorkie and I have to say that my schnauzer was a lot easier to house train and I think she is also smarter than the Yorkie. She has been very healthy, I have never had to take her to the vet because of a health issue, she never looses hair. She is not as affectionate as other dogs and would rather be on her own than with a lot of people and also tends to be a little bit aggressive every once in a while, however, she has never been aggressive towards me and she has never bitten me. She is a great house protector, but when we got her when I was little we were not very well informed of the breed and didn't know they are made to hunt, so it was kind of shocking the two times she managed to kill a dove in our backyard. I love her so much and unfortunately, I moved for college so I haven't seen her in almost a year but I can`t wait to see her again. Not to mention that she is gorgeous and her fur is so soft and shiny she almost looks like white silver 💕💕💕 thank you for the video!

My 4 furries love carrots and lettuce no belly problems. Just no fat or grease and they do fine
