I was stabbed in my back by a big man with a 10 in Chef knife. I was taken to Harborview via I-5 by HEROS on duty. I was in and out of consciousness, being knocked out by the excruciating pain. My scapula was split in half, my right lung collapsed from a large laceration. Five ribs were broken, I had 2 lung tubes, and I was in a medically induced comfortable 2 weeks. The body never completely heals you just learn to deal and make do. The mind will forever hold on that trauma and it will manifest it in many ways. Thank you for the professional Medic service and the emergency surgical teams for giving me another chance at life. It will be 20 years on December 30, 2021. ❤❤❤

I just wanted to say, KCMO really is a special place. I applied once and was denied despite several years of experience, a bachelors degree in EMC, and some decent test scores. They draw an excellent caliber of applicant and getting a job there seems incredibly difficult (worth it). I actually moved on to medical school, but I always love seeing more videos detailing the work of fellow paramedics up in King Co. WA. Be safe!
