      they're not being saved because they're cute. they are because they disapearance injured the biodiveristy of they habitat. we were responsible for making them disapear, it's our responsability to bring them back

      +Danica DeCosto You don't want these ferrets or weasels, but a normal domesticated ferret, sure.

    • @TheRccrf
      @TheRccrf 8 лет назад +7

      +Azazel Acheron No, no you can't, that's terrible advice. Their stomachs can only handle protein and protein heavy sources. There is too much other crap in cat food that would cause gi distress to the ferrets' stomach.

      It's very common in the south of England. As a mother of two ferrets myself, I find it quite upsetting. Ferreting/working ferrets are rarely treated well and it's terrible for wildlife.

      I don't want to cause trouble between you and your mom, but the only reason ferrets smell bad is that they have "musk glands" that produce smelly oils.
      I had a friend who had a ferret he bought in Nevada. He had the musk glands removed and his ferret smelled fine.

    • @gazepskotzs4
      @gazepskotzs4 8 лет назад

      +Patrick Hempe i owned a male with glands and al,
      maybe i was lucky, but he smelled normal.
      when i put my nose to his fur, it was a tiny bit like a goat, but nothing like a goat stable,
      i mean
      you couldn t smel his presence .

    • @janelin6083
      @janelin6083 8 лет назад

      Patrick Hempe
      I've read that the "musky" smell is only released when the animal is scared or stressed.
      So a happy ferret is a non-stinky ferret.

    cant they just allow us to have these babies to stop the xtinction?

    • @Eszra
      @Eszra 8 лет назад +6

      I think it's because the ferrets that are domesticated have been bred to be not as aggressive to humans. Now it is possible if you raised any wild ferret as a baby it would be similar but at the same time their diet's are different and normal toys or other small animals wouldn't be safe around them. Something like that.

    • @douglasgriffiths3534
      @douglasgriffiths3534 8 лет назад +9

      Black footed ferrets and the domestic ferrets are two different species altogether. The blackfoot is native to North America; the domestic ferret is from Europe. It is also known as a polecat.

    • @magicavocado6528
      @magicavocado6528 6 лет назад +1

      Douglas Griffiths polecats are the domestic ferret's wild ancestor. You can have domesticated polecats too and these usually have ferret mixture in them.

    As usual, all that caused their demise was simply human greed. If they had been raising poultry instead of cattle, they would have killed all ferrets directly to avoid losing some few stupid chickens. That's how it is.

    they environment works without them..

    • @Dreddly2390
      @Dreddly2390 10 лет назад +1

      Jared Reabow I think its more of an undoing of the damage of man sorta thing. Yes the environment works without them but they would only help it to prosper. Until coyotes numbers are up that is. Then we'll call it an epidemic and shoot all the coyotes before they eat enough to starve and thin their numbers naturally. Natures way works only until it gets in our way.

    1:40 - I wish the fallacy that prairie dogs made for less forage for grazers would stop being spread. Science has shown that the cute little dogs maintain healthy grasslands by taking out invasive species & aerating the soil. Cows were radio collared in Chihuahua & given the choice of where to graze. They spent 85% of their time in P Dog towns. The food was better for them there, grass more plentiful, & none of them broke their legs. Wake up!

    I've had european ferrets for ten years and loved them. Why don't they just domesticate the prairie ferrets for pets and you'll never have to worry about their numbers again. That's after they bring their numbers up. Sell 300 ferrets to breeders to domesticate; the problem solved and everybody's happy.

    • @runethief3041
      @runethief3041 7 лет назад +4

      Paul Avery wrong they don't want them to be domesticated ,they are trying to bring back an ecosystem, and that means having wild animals.

    • @GlassTaiga
      @GlassTaiga 9 лет назад +7

      +SneakyNinjaSistas I see what you're saying but I don't think it applies here. :) These ferrets went extinct because of humans ripping their habitat apart, systematically killing their prey, and introducing foreign diseases; not because of natural selection within their ecosystem.
