Thanks for saving my sanity just by highlighting the Sicken spell. Just came back to the game after 20 years and the early levels were so much worse than i remembered.

You must have heard that I just started a new shammy on Rizlona. Thanks for the tips - answered a lot of questions I had about spell lineup!

If someone watches this in 2021 or beyond. Until level 19 your most efficient heal is gonna be Inner fire. Use that in a group.

I think they fixed that bug on TLPs and live, but it probably works on P99 and EMUs.

Thanks for sharing your expertise, wish I had known this years ago. Had to learn the hard way.
I would go to everfrost to hunt mammoths. Charmed a mammoth calf to help, shrunk it down to the size of a basketball, tons of fun

I tend to use my less heals to keep track of the healer, we tend to forget our own health :)

Thanks for this! I liked and Subbed =D
I leveled two shamans on different TPL servers, the first one was at or beyond the PoP expak and I got gifted items and escorted to a couple different places. The second time, I wanted to do it all myself as vanilla as possible on a new TPL server which was on the first one or two expaks (before PoP teleports) and couldn't figure out the travel system. I out leveled my barbarian zone and asked around how to get somewhere, I can't remember where, I took a boat and then had to travel through mountains that had high level orcs or guards of some type and they killed me three different times. I couldn't get passed them without invisibility or something. I ended up getting really discouraged because there didn't seem to be any alternative routes or places to level.
So, with all this said, would you be able to make/have you made a vanilla (pre-pop) guide on where to level on a fresh server and how to travel around?
Edit: I just found this video "EVERQUEST - How to run from QEYNOS to FREEPORT at level 1 (No Buffs) on zero hour of a FRESH TLP"
    ruclips.net/video/MHswlvTiXWE/видео.html
Would this apply to a Barb Shaman?

You will have a lot of trouble making the run as a Barbarian Shaman since you have to cross Blackburrow. If you wait till level 5 you can cross blackburrow or wait until people are hunting there and run through. One thing to add is that the route I took through the feerrott is dangerous. After making the video, people told me to hug the west and then north wall when you get into Feerrott. Of course, watch out for the Ogook guards when you get close to that part. Good luck!

At level 1, your heal pops for 10hp. Inner fire pops for 11 for the same mana. It's also abjuration, which you will need to train.

I'd have to say that the comment about posion being very weak at that level, really depends on which poison you're hit by. If you're poisoned by a snake in Commonlands or the Deserts of Ro, if you don't have like 85% of your health left after the fight, you're done for. The medding wont save you, and the bandages wont save you. On the other hand, if you get poisoned by a snake in Qeynos, you basically wont even notice you've been poisoned. xD And the diseases don't really do much on their own, but they can add up in Befallen, or just be a mega pain if you get a 35 minutes dose of Rabies. Can add a good chunk to your downtime. Would still pick up a cure diseases personally. It's nowhere near as important as cure poison, but it does get you back into the fight faster, cause some diseases can really just halt your regeneration completely, and then you have to waste Mana to fill your health, and then you have downtime again.

Couple things: on dots the “counters #” is how many points of curing it takes to remove the dot. Mostly important on pvp servers or for priests who wish to cure these DoTs that land on their allies. Resist checks to get these dots to land are listed as a “resist adjust -#” which helps you determine if you need to malaise or not. Charisma buffs are huge on shaman because buying spells and selling loot takes a huge price gouge if you are below 75 cha and scales up to that 120 or whatever you’d mentioned on your enchanter. You kinda completely glossed over lvl 9 spirit of wolf. Shaman obtain this intensely important buff levels earlier than druids and rangers. SoW saves lives more so than just about any other spell. Also should mention canni dancing around server ticks for much faster regen

I'm torn between necro and shaman, clear choice would be necro, but their are so many necros running around, I want to play somthing that's more rare

I wonder if you have actually played a shaman up to a higher level?
Hearing you dis the shaman pet like you were makes me think not.
There are many strategies for Shaman and you have to adapt to circumstances. Troll and Ogre Shaman are half decent tanks or you can make the mob hate you so much they just want to hit you so you agro kite it around (with SOW which never got a mention!), all the while pet is gnawing at it's heels. If you manage agro your pet can give you a chance to canni and sit to med for a few ticks. At lvl 55 my pet was tanking 'a Cliff Golem' in The Overthere! Shaman Slow and Heals over time make a huge huge difference, and you buff your pet like a group member, it's a true companion and should be treated as such, keep it alive and it can serve you in many ways! They bash which can interupt casters, they can hold agro while you root then pull them back, they regen at a huge rate...
We should be able to name our pets! Suspend Minion should be innate. Their tail should wag! Otherwise I love my doggy!

I have played one up to 110 and same with a mage. At all level the shaman pet can not compare to the mage pet. Sure, with the help of slows and tactics you can kite, etc. But compare the shaman pet to a mage or necro pet straight up and you'll see they're a lot lower on level right from the start. for example, at 115 the mage pet can straight up tank mobs in ToV zones with no help at all.

@@doctornachoz8099 I agree with your facts, but for example take a rogue player; they are no tank but no one would say that rogues are worthless, they're awesome! Granted a shaman pet is no DPS king like a rogue but if you took their pet away most shaman in the classic game would be up in arms complaining; why? Because shaman pets are worthy, they are useful and an important part of who a shaman is, they are not just a joke.
When I stopped playing on live the level cap was 60 (I think the expansion after Luclin) and I think by then the game was developing away from the classic ethos, maybe that has something to do with your perspective, I don't know, but that is a whole different discussion :) Don't get me started on mercenaries, which meant all classes could have multi faceted pets effectively.

2 cents in here: the shaman pet is just another damage over time spell. Don’t use it to tank, but it would be silly yo not have it up for free damage.

You forgot the first 7 ticks of Sicken for a total of 15x11=165 plus the initial 8 dmg for a total of 173 dmg.

Yep, I missed it! Wow, that spell gets so awesome as the fight goes longer!
