Thank you so much sir! Female here, and just changed the flat on my suburban thanks to you. And while doing so, I taught my 16 year old daughter. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for making this video! My husband works out of town and doesn't believe I just changed my own tire! I'm very thankful for it being the weekend so I was able to take my time.
I had no knowledge of how to remove my spare tire. Bought a used 2018 yukon denali had no owners manual, but thnx to your video, now I know. Thank you sir. 👍
Thank you very much! I had a flat on my commercial vehicle and couldn’t figure out how to drop the spare tire. Your video was the answer to my prayers in a very embarrassing situation in from of my client. But it all ended well once I saw your video.
BEST VIDEO ON RUclips!!!! thank you so much i was so frustrated trying to figure this out....YTU= RUclips UNIVERSITY this is free education at its finest
I can’t get my tool bag out. Now I see why. Good instructions. Though I can’t imagine laying on the shoulder of I-95 getting that tire out from under there. Better Call Saul! UPDATE: Bought my 2020 Tahoe used 6 weeks ago. I remember seeing on Carfax that there had been a tire repaired. So the knucklehead that removed the tool bag, did not put them back in there correctly (as in the lug wrench end pointing toward front of vehicle). That is what was making it very difficult to get the thing out, which happy to say I finally did. Thanks to this video, I now can lower my spare. Just need to find out where to place the jack underneath the vehicle.
Thanks bro. My spare tire was dangling down. Things floping all around. Feeling inadequate. Couldn't get it up. I was overcompensating with the longest rod. You showed me I only needed two, not 3 lengths. Quality over quantity, I suppose. Now she's happy 😊. Thanks ma dude!!
Great video. I have a 2015 GMC Sierra. I had a blowout on the left front tire. Flatter than a pancake. The jack you show is totally worthless on this truck. Couldn’t get the Jack high enough to even get the spare off the ground. I figured out too, those L-shaped pieces of steel are wheel chalk. I am investing in a floor jack to carry with me on long trips. Just FYI, in case anyone else runs into the same problem.
Best detailed version out there. Most people leave out that the square open end is what goes into the lock hole. I was trying to use the jack hook end. Also the only one I've seen show how to slide the metal part through the center of the wheel. Also probably a good idea to check the tire pressure on it before dropping it if you're on the side of the road and have a psi gauge. Saves you the hassle of doing anything if it's flat as well.
Thank you couldn't come at a better time it's starting to rain and I couldn't get it off until I watched this also tought my teens in case I'm not around
GM should buy your video I couldn’t figure out for the life of me (or with the the Cadillac manual) how to get that jack re stowed. Without your video it would still be rolling around in the stowage bin…..
THANK YOU so very much for showing us how to put the jack back into the compartment! Its been out for a week since we used it and couldn’t figure out how to put it back. No other video showed our exact vehicle, so they didn’t help. Thanks!

Ahhhhh....the good ol'days. When the simple was the standard. All I hated was when the genius people changed the spare to the doughnut and put that funky jack with it. But still.... Ahhhhhhh..
Ya ridiculous to need to use a key to lower the spare. Bought a used yukon, my key apparently doesn't fit. So I'm out of luck for now. Also, previous owners never put the spare tire tools back. Only have a jack.
Thank you for this I just purchased my 2018 Escalade ESV summer 2021 but this is crazy to do for a women and the multiple steps but I’ll deal with it lol
Just installed my spare. Big pain. Getting the tire free from the cable is the toughest part. I recommend jacking the car up first, so you have enough leverage to remove the locking mechanism from the spare.
Just bought a 2020 GMC Yukon SLE without the engine push start. Only one set of keys came with the vehicle. I purchased two new FOBs that have the valet keys. How do I program the new FOBs?
I’ll be getting a new fob soon and will make a video, but the instructions are in the owners manual. You’ll put the key fob in the center console in its cubby and follow the instructions

So, the tire won’t come all the way down for me. I think it might be stripped. When I turn clockwise, it keeps popping. Is there anyway I can get it down in this state? It’s about halfway to the ground. Pls n thx!
Perhaps pulling it down by hand while reeling it may help the pulley system work. If you can get it down low enough to get the tire free you may need to replace the pulley system. Some penetrating oil may help too or put grease on the cable and reel it back up to hopefully break it free
I had to do this in Wisconsin, in the Winter, 5 degrees out. I nearly lost some appendages in the process from frost bite. The spare tire has been sitting in the back cargo area since then, I even bought a nice cover for it so my wife doesn't have to look at it.
Are you talking about the wheel while it’s on the car? It sounds like you’re taking about the hub which stays on the car. It’s just stuck if that’s the case. Kick the wheel at the top and at the bottom to knock it loose but don’t let the car fall off the jack
We got 22 inch wheels on our Tahoe. I can’t keep tires inflated. One wheel got cracked from always going flat. I wish we had 17inch wheels never had problems buying tires or staying inflated.
All of your videos are great and very informative, thanks for taking the time. I have Yukon 2017 slt and my lock wouldnt open. The key doesnt turn. What should I do? Is there a certain way to turn the key or to open the lock? What should I do?
The key should turn to the right and then pull out (you can see it in the video). If it’s jammed up, spray a bunch of PB plaster, WD40 or liquid wrench in the key hole and try to break it loose. It’s a common problem with these trucks, so best to just throw the lock away
Hey Danny, my pops somehow go the black stick stuck inside the turn hole in the back and we can’t figure out how to take it off; is there a specific motion or way we have to take it out ?
Try wrapping the end you do have in packaging tape to make it thicker and jamb it into the end that’s stuck. There should be the little button on it to keep it locked together as you saw in the video to keep that from happening in the future
I ran into a little snag. When I took the lock off of the tube to lower the spare, there was still a piece of metal inside blocking the pathway for the rod. The metal cap came off fine, but I don’t know what this piece is behind it. I didn’t notice you having that same issue. Any suggestions?

Dislikes are from GM car designers who made this unnecessarily complicated.
Great video thank you!

Very good point on the tire pressure. It doesn’t do any good to have a flat tire! Thanks for the comment
How do we get the tire off the car tire hoist due to the wheel retainer being stuck to the hoist end of extension tool
My spare tire had only 8 psi ! 😊
this video helped me alot
Thank you so much. We had an unexpected flat tire today and watching your video helped us out a lot.
