  • This video is meant for people who are perhaps thinking about buying a Bread Making Machine and would maybe like to learn a little bit more about how they work and whether they are any good. I do hope someone finds it helpful.
I show you how the machine works, talk a little bit about our experiences with breadmakers and make a rapid white loaf to show you the results.
I've had this Breadmaker/Bread Machine for a couple of months now and I really love it.
It is a Panasonic SD-YR2550SXC (this is not a paid promotion)
It is so easy to use and will make a perfect basic white loaf in 2 hours with a minimal amount of preparation.
It is very easy to clean and so far every loaf that we have made has turned out beautifully.
Video Correction - i mentioned in the video that the silver finish on the machine is stainless steel - it is actually brushed aluminium.

Very useful Richard, thank you. I have a very ancient, very basic bread machine which I stopped using many years ago. In fact I gave up bread making completely until I made a comment on one of your other videos and you recommended Paul's stand mixer bread video. I've been using that method ever since. But this is making me want a machine like yours.

Yours looks very posh indeed. Panasonic was tested by which and was highly rated . I tend to use mine to make the dough and bake it in the main oven , yes, because of the random disappearing paddle!

I have had a couple bread makers over the years and did like using them but once the last one broke down I haven’t bought a new one but your review of this one has me thinking maybe I just might try again.
I now make my bread by hand -but it is not comfortable with my hand issues and the energy efficiency of a loaf in the oven vs the bread machine is obvious so I make a number at one time and freeze them - you are so right about just how much bread can one eat - it is so much better freshly made and this speaks well for the machine. Thanks for the review Richard ! It was very well done.

Excellent video. You provide critical information that needs to be included in a more transparent set of instructions in the Panasonic manual: With anything not rapid rise, NOTHING will happen for up to an hour. Panasonic needs to fix its manual for beginner bakers. I imagine some technical writer put it together, not considering the audience. Your bread turned out as mine did - and I had never baked bread until acquiring my breadmaker recently. Home-baked bread is a very satisfying experience.

And, secondly, I absolutely adore olive bread - my main reason for buying the machine - so do you think I could put it on the raisin bread setting and put the pitted olives in the dispenser? Would that work?

    • @RichardandPaul

We bake our cakes, bread and rolls every week. When we read what's in the supermarket bread ISN 345 ISN 678 ISN 231..ec. ec.,. we get goosebumps.
We have been together since 1977 and have had our son for 9 years.. our little one already bakes with the machines himself,
White flour, sugar, oil, yeast grains, wateror Milk, salt and dark sweetness
soy sauce (vitamin B group) is all that is in bread

Is it possible to make larger loaves. I have a big family and this Diddy laal thing you showed us would get wolfed down in seconds by one half while the others would be left waiting for the next batch😂

If you want very large loaves I would suggest learning to make them by hand and use an oven.

Hello Richard, warm bread mm’mm! I always wanted a bread maker. I wanted to wake to the smell of cinnamon raisin bread baking😋. I keep putting it off though just because I have issues with self control when it comes to bread, sad to say put it’s true. 😞
Beautiful machine, it would look great on my countertop. Thank you for the review!👍🏼😉

Thanks so much. I must remember to add cinnamon the next time I make a sultana loaf. I think it would work well.

Looks unreal, thanks Richard. You've _almost_ convinced me to get one. Probably after we get back from holiday at Xmas.

What a great video, Richard! 🥖🍞🫓🥨
Now we do bake all our breads by hand (rye or wheat, yeast or sourdough). One of the reasons is one that you mention: our countertop space is at a premium, but also because, tbh, every other bread we bake is baguette 🥖 and we usually bake rolls at the same time for freezing and then putting on the toaster 😉 We've managed to fit the baking into our routines, though, so it's not too much of a bother (most of the time).
    However, having said that:
I've recommended bread making machines to quite a few people who don't want to make bread by hand for whatever reason. It's such an easy alternative to buying bread at the store - often less expensive, so much more transparent (ingredients), and also likely healthier than supermarket bread (we do have artisanal bakeries in Germany all over the place, but we still prefer to bake our own).
I will have to try that recipe you made for the video - still haven't found the perfect recipe for a basic white loaf.
