Just went to Lake Powell for the first time, absolutely incredible. Definitely not for the meek though, I advise other first timers, like myself, to do a lot of research on how to properly anchor your houseboat, what to do in a storm, etc.

The good earth will get around to it when it feels like it but people don't remembr why the area is known as the DESERT SW.

Thanks for the video! Can you give an estimate on how much time it would take from Wahweap marina to Cookie Jar via houseboat?

    • @FuelForTravel
      @FuelForTravel  2 года назад +2

I would plan for 4 1/2 to 5 hours to get all the way to cookie jar and Kane wash

Hi, thabk you for the video, wondering if you would go there with small kids 2-8 by renting a pontoon

Its better if you have boating experience, but the lake is big and there are plenty of spots to enjoy, but the worst part is the “Main Channel’ and it builds a lot of waves when the lake is busy. That is the most dangerous part, but families do it all summer long. It’s a gorgeous and fun lake and there are parts you could enjoy without needed to go through the “Main Channel”. Hope this helps, if so subscribe to my channel. I give recommendations for the area and the whole region if you’re planning a trip

We’ve caught plenty at or near Lone Rock. There coves all the way to your right that have have been good too

Ed Abbey is rejoicing in his deliberately unmarked grave deep in a remote desert in the Southwest. Climate change is bringing back the Glen Canyon ecosystem, although now it has heaps of silt in it. Ecological restoration can change that. Use other technology for electricity, and adapt to changing water availability. Maybe technological innovations can make desalination plants even more widely available.

Good information and video but the tacky "rock" music makes it really hard to listen to. Best to kill the volume & just read!

The music is definitely too loud relative to the voice over.

The dam was not built for recreation ....in another year they (boats) also will be gone..for good..Page, not if, but when...Ghost town.. and all those high priced hotels...Navajos will be abandoned...Greed destroyed Lake Powell...your video is upside down

    • @FuelForTravel

I agree that greed has destroyed Lake Powell. There is a lot of respectful people that really enjoy visiting the lake too though. The lake is here primarily due to making energy for millions, but it is easily one of the most awesome lakes in the US and in the world. We should be caring for it the same way we do any park or monument or better. I want to say a huge thanks to the Trash Tracker team and all the families that pack out what you pack in. And thank you families that I’ve seen picking up debris and garbage and hauling it out! 💯💗

They flooded God's masterpiece so yahoos could waterski, swill beer in their houseboats, and "explore" in their jet skis and motorboats. Drain Lake Foul. Let the Colorado River flow.

If the lake lakes were all gone and it was just a river do you realize how bad the water situation would be in California and Arizona now the Colorado River is pretty small after the snow pack runs off is over

@@Clawson_customs Relative to available water the place is way overdeveloped. Population reduction is inevitable anyway. Best for desert dwellers to live within their means.

    • @Clawson_customs

Ya I think we should take them all out and watch them starving to death with no water that would be awesome

@@Clawson_customs Starving the golf courses of water would help. People will move before they starve.
