I really appreciate your readings along with the commentary A very insightful perspective about reading poetry aloud, I really resonate with that. At 46, Sylvia is still one of my all time favorite authors. The Bell Jar walked so her poetry could run

My favorite Sylvia Plath poem is "The Colossus", it is extremely beautiful and moving and simply so powerful. The images she talks about in the poem are most moving.

I totally agree with you about Ted Hughes, from what I understand after her death he took over her estate and therefore over her writings, which I agree he shouldn't have anything to do with her writing. She was an amazing, talented woman and one who suffered greatly and it came out in her writing. She's truly one of my favorite authors!

Yeah, the Colossus collection is outstanding. Her earlier work isn't fully fleshed out. As far as Lyricism, you should not underestimate the value of her rhythms: "Echoing, echoing/ All night I shall gallop thus/ Till your head is a stone/ Your pillow a little turf." Meaning in Plath is a shared journey because it often seems she is searching for it as much as we are.

I find your enthusiasm contagious. I have only read the bell jar, but now I might dive into her poetry. Regards from Mexico.

I, too, feel confused when reading Sylvia Plath's poems. With that said, my favorite poems from that collection are In Plaster, Lady Lazarus, and I Am Vertical.

‘a cerebral struggle for survival’ love that. The absurdity of existing 😐. I read her out loud as well and very thankful for her work. She can also just really make me smile at times. Thank you! ✌️

Great video on Plath. I just found out that she won the Pulitzer Prize for this book, 19 years after her death!! Thanks to you and this video, I have just ordered this book from Amazon!! By the way I also liked your review of Nabokov's Lolita. I did see both movie versions of this. I found the book so ridiculous as to be funny but in a dark and perverted way. But you analyzed it correctly. I love your book reviews! Do you have any HP Lovecraft?? My favorite author! LOL

I find Sylvia Plath's poetry too confusing to enjoy. I enjoy Robert Frost and Poe much more. as well as many more.
