language learning has become one of my main hobbies and i dont think i could ever stop now since its just so satisfying and rewarding. I managed the A2 language exam and that's enough for me to casually talk to people while skiing in Osterreich. As soon as i have my B2 language exam ill go over to Russian then to Spanish. Michelangelo, even at the age of 87, famously said, "Ancora imparo" - "I am still learning." This is a powerful reminder that no matter how much we know or how old we get, there is always more to discover. By the way ChatGPT is great to have conversations with in German and it knows modern slang as well, and every dialect, its new voice function is even better at it. I use it a lot to explain words to me. If i know what makes up a word its easier for me to remember it.
Yes! Language learning shouldn’t be about just apps; it’s about doing life in that language. Every convo, every show, each mistake is a step closer to fluency. 💪
9:59 shots taken 💀and the meetings culture definitely deserves that. Awesome reflection, and congrats on the 1138 days mark! On your first lesson, the way I like to think about it is having both a why and a what, and realigning them continuously. The "why" is just a long-term goal which serves as a compass, your "what" is the next step that you take towards there (or following the analogy, path on the map towards the goal). Regularly reflecting on the relationship between the two and whether your current trajectory is aligned with your end goal is just systematizing your learning to make sure you stay on track. Though honestly, I think many people have a tendency of turning a simple reflection into an overthinking session and doing this could derail them completely 😁
I have a really good tip. Print out the subtitles for the video that you're going to watch beforehand. Try to identify the words that you don't know. Then watch the video with the subtitles in your target language
unterhaltsames Video.
There's a book that I've been reading called "Madrigal's Magic Key to German" and it's got a very solid overview of many of the loan/ "close-ish" words that are actually valid. It's out of print so it's a bit pricey but there's other means of reading it, I'm sure. It's also just an overall great starting point for German, imo.
Congratulations! You seem to be advanced enough to be introduced into the true beauty of the German language: The poems of Rainer Maria Rilke!
Wait. Did you post this advice on Reddit too? Funny thing is that I added more Easy German today because of it. About to start my first real book tomorrow.
hi, i love the content, my target language is russian and i spend probably 3-6 hours a day in it. it's so rewarding. admittedly i also adore watching videos such as these and reading abt other people's progress, it sorta boosts me with mine too. wish i had picked a language up earlier rah but 20s is better than 30s ig so onwards and upwards
As a german it sounds kinda funny, how you said that you'd really like to read mein kampf (i dont mean it negativly i understand the curiosity). Thats just a sentence that would instantly spark jokes about you being a nazi (if you were german). Btw love your videos❤
Thank you for your videos.😊 I have a couple of questions, if you don't mind. What level have you managed to achieve in this period of time learning German? And, how many hours per day on average do you spend on acquiring German? (Counting all the things you do in German, and things like flashcards.) I'm also learning German, recently reached 600 hours of comprehensive input (tracked precisely), and still feel like I'm at A2, maybe B1.
