BTW the rumor is that the "trainer" who saved Clint Malarchuk was a medic in the Vietnam war. That is how he knew exactly what to do with a carotid artery, he handled that stressful situation with ease. Fixing a broken human while being shot at in the Vietnam jungle, would cause an astronomical stress level, so I am sure this was nothing to him. The guy is a hero, more than once... A true veteran.

In this video you said, that Malarchuck's jugular vein was cut, then later you referred to it as an artery. I'm a registered nurse and that is incorrect. Arteries carry blood away from the heart and veins carry blood back to the heart. The jugular is very significant and cutting it is still very serious. I'm sure there was a lot of blood. When an artery is cut the blood will spurt every time the heart beats. Veins don't have pressure and don't spurt.

Clint Malarchuk also went into coaching after playing, coached 12 seasons and I believe be 6 in the NHL as a goaltending coach WHILE maintaining his job as a horse doctor on his ranch in Nevada. He wrote a book and does public speaking. One of my fathers best friends and one of the best men you’ll be fortunate enough to meet if you do. My father once witnessed him sew HIMSELF up, after an accident at his house cut his chin. He asked my dad for a needle and thread and literally sewed himself up with no freezing. The team doctor the next day upon inspection said he couldn’t have done it better himself, but needed to re do it with medical sutures for sanitary reasons. Different kind of tough and in the words of my father a “fox hole guy” . I randomly saw him on the video and thought I’d share what a mans man he is, and special person to those who know him. Read his book if you want some real truth of professional athletes and mental health. And I can vouch that as crazy, and disturbing some stories may be they are all in fact very much true.

Anderson has no right to wear that jacket. The collar in the colors of the French flag is specific to pastry chefs that won a specific award (Meilleur Ouvrier de France) marking them as the best in the world. Pastry chefs work for years to prepare for the test and few pass so to see people just wearing it without earning the right to wear it is insulting and in France carries a prison sentence.

You guys must ignore half of the research. Malarchuk is still very much involved in hockey, he is the damn goalie coach for the Calgary Flames. That's a full time job for at least 7 months of the year, plus player development in the off-season. He doesn't work a normal job by any stretch.

I am suprised to hear you mention Napoleon Kaufman. Miles McPherson played 4 years for the San Diego Chargers as a starting Defensive Back and Special Teams. He eventually retired to become a Pastor after getting born again. Dude has a mega church in San Diego and has been so successful that he was invited to the Obama White House.
