Or in any voice. That is a lot of money which can buy you a decent audio interface, mic and arm
I didn't expect it to be 199.... looking at mic nothing special and something like rode nt-usb blows it away
@@GilTheCohen Yeah, for $200 you can just about get a Scarlet 2i2 (which you'll never need to upgrade) and an SM58.

I would quit smoking to make that happen! Too bad I dont smoke.
I support this we want more Anthony content :3
@Jonathan Pattern The Level1Techs crew is actually doing just that right now. They just posted thier third video in what they are calling the Level099 course
By the time you're looking at $199, just grab an interface and an xlr microphone. Better price: performance ratio and you have room to upgrade later down the line.
Yeah this is more for people who aren’t willing to do a little research, like the yeti mics
Was gonna say, you could get an AT2020 and an UM2, with cash still to spare for a crappy boom arm.
or if you wanna go usb mic route buy the hyperx quadcast which sounds much better imo
It's a premium all-in-one product, but i think for the features and build and sound quality impression from this video, i don't think it's a bad value.
But you're right with a interface and xlr mic you could get similar audio quality for a cheaper price, you might lose the switchable characteristics.

@hey bro stop forcing your religion to others... That's the roman catholic's brand...
If he did it would have software akin to the wave, and likely be dynamic - wouldn't hate it if he did though
for 200 bucks, it does not sound good imo. An AudioTechinca AT2035 blows this out of the water tbh, but then again that wold require an audio interface. But just from price wise, AudioTechnica AT2035 all the way
Considering you can get an absolutely decent audio interface for $100 (Scarlett solo) and it will do way more than just connect mics, like give you way better sound output than onboard audio, far lower latency, etc., the extra $50 spent is well worth it IMO
Yeah you're better off getting an xlr mic and interface or if your room isn't treated well, a q2u or atr2100 (Dynamic xlr+USB microphones) than spending $200 for a USB mic that is only USB.
For around $200 you can get an AT2020 and a Scarlet Solo. On sweetwater they have a bundle that's around that price range and comes with an XLR cable as well.
Yea. It sounded like ass
really? Sounded great to me
8:13 Linus dropped the price tag
7:05 talk about scooping the mids!
Also what Raycons sound like.
USB-C is really necessary, I have a Blue Yeti Nano with a Micro-B port, and it sucks ass. Falls out on its own now, super unreliable and insecure.
Im bit surprised about that. My Blue Yeti's port is fine after few years. Though I think I have unplugged it 3 times in that time.. Micro is a shit port I must admit.
I also have a Blue yeti but its never fallen out, more than 3 years old now.
Damn idk I must be doing something wrong cuz I’ve had it for two years and it barely stays in - might be a cable problem since I’m using the OG one that came with it
My blue yeti had same problem i picked up a usb 2.0 c port on Amazon and soldered it to the board and used the OEM hole after removing the mini USB port. It’s wayyy better now.
@@goody1928 hahaha that might be a bit over my level of expertise
One advantage of the Omnidirectional pickup pattern is that it does not suffer from the proximity effect, so you do not get the bass buildup that occurs when speaking really close to it. Very useful in some settings!

It’s a usb mic bro does it really matter
@@chewbster takes 2 seconds to flash on screen. All microphone headphone and speaker reviews and showcases should have them when available.
@@StarmanDX yes because they are selling it, it’s a microphone regardless. Im never gonna buy it but you should still be letting people know when you show it off. So much talking and showing how the mic sounds. Totally pointless.
@@Dropkickclash192 I guess, but to be completely fair the people buying a usb mic like this almost definitely won’t care about that data. They just want something that looks cool, is easy to set up, and sounds better than a gaming headset
This sounds good! I love it when audio companies make consumer grade products that sound great out of the box without totally breaking the bank!
Still rocking my GSP 600 headset from when they were still being branded as Sennheiser. Love the headset. Sturdy, comfy, the drivers in the headset are good and the mic isn’t bad either. It obviously doesn’t compare to a standalone mic, but I like the convenience of having the mic attached to the headset.
stereo mode is more for like music/band streamers, where you can set up the mic center of the band and get that stereo effect from the band members left of the mic and those to the right or similar scenarios.
It sound really good, wasn't realising you changed the mics.
The backing track SLAPS. Nice ear for picking that out.
Linus: "It's not that high pitched!"
Immediately drops his voice on his next line.
David's What? behind the camera killed me.
bruh
I basically don't worry a single bit about whether or not a mic is going to pick up background noise. Nvidia's RTX Voice is so good at cutting out the back ground that I really do not think it matter which mic you have connected and are using. I also use Equalizer APO to tune the vocals and audio EQ for inputs and outputs. For me this just makes things more easy than relying on a devices proprietary software.
Looks nice, if there was a version with an XLR connection even if the direction controls were not there, I would consider it.
Ok, going out on a limb here but you could use an adaptor to go from 1/8" to XLR (male), Yes, I know it's not the most desirable option. That's what always kept me from buying a streaming mic. I like for all my mics to be XLR.
The backing track on this is on point.
such a beautiful mic tbh
Lmao, Linus can harmonize with a microwave at 6:38.
Actually stereo recording would be great for podcast (of 2 people), positioning one person in front of each side of the mic to get 2 clear channels (one for each) of the two people to manipulate in post
How's the audio quality between a USB C mic vs an XLR mic?
Would y'all at LTT consider doing a mic line-up of cheapest and worst to most expensive and best like you do with gaming mice?
Seems to be about where those kind of mics typically sell for. Not bad, always nice to have more options.
After watching the LTT video on how they make these videos, i feel the stress with Linus
Using stereo for a two person interview would be nice because you would get semi discrete channels for each speaker.
Are those Luke’s old rocks in that thing?
Yes
Can u do more mic reviews? Studio recording etc.
I've got a Samson Q2U and with a little tweaking, it can sound about as good as this does stock. At this price point I could get a proper Sennheiser 935 or 945 depending on what I'm trying to do.
1:40 Weird, as I've had the exact opposite experience across all of my devices. Plus, if Micro B ever does wear-out, all you have to do is replace the cable. USB C requires the entire port to be replaced.
This video has more drop tips than any other LTT video
that microphone looks very good, and sounds good too
Me: Electronic Point of Sale
Video: A microphone
Today I learned that my ATR 2500's 3.5mm jack is a pass through for my PC audio and not just for the mic. Ive been doing recordings with earphones in 1 ear and headphones
It would be cool to see a video on the quality loss of using Nvidia broadcast with a good mic like this one.
I like the birghtness of this set, the table, from the lights and overall the whole video. Makes it perfect for product reviews.
(No mather what style LMG goes with, their videos always look great. But I honestly think the brightness of this video is a keeper for product reviews here on Short Circuit)
(The moody darker way is better off for Presentation videos on LTT)
Has anyone found a wind screen that perfectly fits for this? I have a decent amount of wind noise in my gaming area so it barely picks it up. You can't really hear it, but if you focus just enough you faintly can.
exquisite piece of sound
For noise cancelation I will always suggest rtx voice if you don't have a rtx card (I know confusing, stay with me here) or Nvidia Broadcast if you do have rtx.
A while ago, when rtx voice came out, it was found you could use rtx voice without the need of a rtx card (I used it with my 1050ti for a while). So nvidia later announced that they would remove that limitation officially (anecdotally it seems to me like rtx voice has been limited since this change, so if you have the option use broadcast). So they just added the functionality to Nvidia Broadcast which has not just noise cancelation but also virtual backgrounds and a few other things. Broadcast still requires an rtx card, but if you have one I fully recommend using Broadcast.
Pretty clean beard bruh, also the background music is head-bobbible.
It says in the datasheet its a Condenser Microphone (3 condenser capsules)
In cardioid mode I think that mic sounds better {without any of the options you used later in the video} that the production mics you use
I hope to see you guys do a USB mic roundup on your main channel.
Regarding USB-C the adapter is more heavy, so you don't want it in gaming mice. Also, the teeth keep it safe in wired mode while you're shaking it with the ludicrous 30G that they are rated for.

im surprised, its not often you find a good sounding usb mic with multiple polar patterns. Most of them have some sort of offensive tone but this things default is actually pretty good.
search for "HyperX quadcast" same features, better sound
@@MaksKCS I've heard of it, wasn't too fond of the sound if I remember
I wouldn't want to sound like any of this for 200 dollars. There are mics half the price with solid features and this performance.
What would you recommend at a lower price?
Yeah sounds like garbage as if they're testing an aliexpress microphone they got for 5$
So the arm is 3/8 inch thread (0:38) and they deliver a 1/4 inch thread (1:08) bolt? Is that what you're saying?
Friendly reminder that you can get a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface for around $100 (extremely popular, you can see Bo Burnham was using one for his new special on Netflix) and then a decent $100 XLR mic that you have a much better upgrade path for.
"Don't be a Linus"
"Do you reckon Linus is slang for penis?"
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I laugh so hard
Fun fact, when people on the ISS drop things, which they do almost as often as Linus, the things fall to the floor just like when Linus drops things.
Maybe I didn't get the joke but things just don't drop in the referential of the station without having inertia first since the whole station is basically in free fall 24/7 🤔
@@SwainixFPV The ISS is in free fall, if it even exists, but NASA's studio where they make all videos supposedly from the ISS - you know, the videos where people fade in and out of existence and have transparent body parts - is not in free fall.
sounds and looks good
One way you guys can improve your audio tech reviews, is to do a techquickie on Polar Patterns, Frequency Response, and basic audio terminology. It will help your viewers, as well as yourselves, separate some of the chaff from these audio reviews.
It's not entirely accurate to describe a Condensor vs Dynamic Mic as the difference in noise rejection, especially since both are commonly found with Cardioid Pickup patterns (Microphone pickup primarily "On-axis", with peak rejection between 120-150, and 210-240 degrees "Off-axis"). The difference you are looking for is diaphragm sensitivity. Since a Dynamic mic is "passive", it relies on mV from the Gain Amplifier, and your voice to excite the pickup, and transduce, whereas a Condenser microphone has a ~48V Line Voltage that the diaphragm is charged to, meaning that it requires less Gain to produce the same amount of sensitivity.
I love your channel, and would love to see the audio-focused content improve.
P.S. I don't think you should recommend this product, since you can't find a response chart or pattern chart on their website, indicating they don't want you to compare this to a Blue Yeti or other comparable USB mic.
i'm really happy with my AT2020 so far
If they threw in some mixing software and some better noise canceling or clip guard, this could be a solid competitor to the elgato wave 3
Would have been better without the background music while Linus is testing the mic.
I wonder what mic they use for their videos
4:10, it's probably an Electret Condenser capsule which is probably why they don't want to mention it as it's not a true condenser mic
Not sure why there was a background music track laid over/under the mic playback sections. Doesn't really help at all. Otherwise, a decent review.
i love the fact that my hyperx solocast is typec to type c and is only 80$ and sounds amazing
Nice job upcycling Luke's PC rock decoration, looks better than the PC did...
What mic is being used when this one in the video isn’t being used? The “regular” mic he was using before this one sounds way better.
That would be some sort of studio-grade equipment. The audio from it probably also went through post-processing during the video editing process (that the EPOS didn't for proper representation).
Just bought this mic for 45 euros! Yeah, sometimes we have crazy discounts in Norway!
I see parts of Luke’s GEODE pc made it to the set

Big Linus Energy
That mic definitely needs a pop filter. The plosives!
3:25 so can I hear my game(PC DESKTOP Audio) and monitor my voice at the same time with one headset if I plug directly in to the microphone?
How did he not mention the noise gate I saw in the software?? That’s literally what I’ve been looking for in a usb mic for ages, since voicemeeter is so annoying.
Release the beast
Opening gate : Linus coming out
With nvidia broadcast this mic works really well. The noise cancelling by default is not the best unfortunately but it does capture your voice really well
Wait why does the description contain links to the LG Gram 14??
Good job ltt team
Why play music over the top of a microphone ad/showcase. Except when turning the noise cancelation up...
I just realized that a decade and a half of listening to podcasts has primed me to be entranced by anyone talking into this sort of microphone...
Linus: it comes with as base
Everyone else: it's all about the bass
( it pretty much sounds the same when you say it out loud)
"that's intolerable"
*leaves the effect on*
So my problem for the mic is the software. I have downloaded the app mutiple times and it still cuts my audio while i use it for a min. So can anyone help me?
what are the mic you use by default ? is it a shotgun mic or a tie-clip one , because the default one sound far better then the epos
I know you guys know better, thats why Im concerned about the background music, is it used to mask white noise or some sound quality issues?
Probably. They can't record in a studio to isolate the sound so it's almost impossible to get a "clean" recording. Using music hides any noises from external sources and means that you don't have to record in a totally quiet set at 2 in the morning to avoid sounds from outside.
Would it of just been to hard to put a captive screw on the bottom of that base. I guess the $250 revision/next model will have it as a feature. Doesn't really sound worth its price imo, but thanks for showing it to us anyway. Have a good day.
Looks really similar to the HyperX Quadcast
