If you stitch on watercolor paper, would you then use an inexpensive wood backing or cardboard for the frame? Also... Do you worry about the fabric not being protected by the frame? I prefer the out open look, because... Fabric... , but always question it. I love how this looks by the way.
Thanks Darlene. I do not worry worry about fabric being protected by a frame or glass. Fabric feels so connected to our human experience that I think putting it behind glass feels separate and less intimate. However, I do have quite a few cross stitch pieces behind glass but they are less expressive so less connection...hope that makes sense. When I stitch them to watercolor paper I will often add a traditional mat to the front for a more traditional look and then frame them but again, without glass. I want to experiment this next year with some untraditional ways to show them more formally so stay tuned for those.
Hi Liz, Apologies for a late reply. I was teaching out of town last week. I have these for sale on my website. www.textileevolution.com/index.php/hikashop-menu-for-categories-listing/category/20-framed-stitch-meditations I also post them on my Facebook and Instagram feed. I don't mount and frame all of them because I would quickly run out of places to store them but these can be purchased as well and we can decide the frame for each setting. Thanks for asking!
Thank you for this!
My pleasure! Glad it is helpful 🙂

Great explanation! I feel that way too, but didn't know why. Totally makes sense.
Do you have an opinion on using archival double stick tape?
Eleanor, I haven't generally been a tape user because when I was living in Colorado I found that tape dried out over time.
What do you suggest for attaching the pieces to cardstock? I hope to make greeting/notecards to share.
Hi Cindy! I use Misty Fuse fusible web. Any fusible will work. Then I often stitch it on the machine or by hand.
Hi there, do you have an etsy shop? how much do you charge for these little sample pictures? thanks

I like stitching the piece on heavy hot press watercolor paper.
Yes, I do that sometimes too. I like to create note cards with them as well.
