Can Someone please help me! After install the burnt-out lamps in my Tandberg TR - 10055 and replacing them with new LEDS the string/cord for the pointer came off the main pulley wheel. I have spent days trying to re-string the thing with no progress. The problem is, unlike Marantz, Pioneer, Sony etc., where the main string pulley wheel on variable resister turning shaft can be made to turn freely by loosening a screw that secure it. The variable resister on the Tandberg is in cased with the main pulley on the outside of it, which can easily come off, by sliding/pulling it out. However, I cannot make it turn freely! The shaft is not round, it is moon shaped and so is the hole in the pulley. It will turn a little to the right or left in according to the AM/FM stations but will go no further. This makes putting the string back on a big problem. The fact that string/cord is fishing line cord, makes trying to wrap the string around the pulley ever harder. Can somebody tell how to fix this problem, I would deeply appreciate it greatly. Anthony
What a fantastic job Sir! Your patience and diligence and skills are incredible. I'm thinking of buying a Tandberg 2060 L but the radio is stuck on one frequency. The dial turns but the pointer doesn't. Your video has now convinced me to get this receiver and now all I need is a person with your knowledge to make it good as new here in England :) I had a Tandberg reel to reel the TD20 A and there is no doubt in my mind the sound of that deck puts Revox to shame. I also have the smaller tape recorder series 1200 4 track that sounds amazing too. I'm having trouble with the pinch wheel at the moment, the washers seem to be in the wrong order so the tape drifts off and the pinch wheel doesn't push against the capstan hard enough, anyway I'm in the process of fixing that myself hopefully.
Hello. Thank you very much for your comment and compliments. The reason the radio is stuck on one frequency, is probably because the scale wire is broken. It is a hassle but possible to fix. This scale wire is a thread which connects the dial to the variable resistor (the channel selector) and the pointer. I have been replacing a couple, but still not posted a video from it. I probably have to get me someone to help me edit all these vids 😅. I have to admit I don’t have much knowledge in Tandberg reel to reel recorders, but someday I will. I have a few to practice, but as for now I’m looking at them with joy mixed with horror. One day! One day I will dive into this magic, and hopefully post some videos from it as well. I hope you find someone to fix your radio.
@@anatticinnorway2883 I think you would find the electronics in reel to reel tape decks would be easy for you but things like alignment of the pinch wheel and transport is the horror side of things. The heads are bad enough even if you do have the test tapes and electronic gear to do a proper job. The main thing repairing reel to reels I think is knowing the best way to get them apart to access the bits you want to service if you have the electronic knowledge like yourself life would be a breeze and the money and or enjoyment you would get from repairing or servicing them would be a literal gold mine!
Thank you for your comment and question. I’ll do my best to answer. This popping sounds, is there any cracking sounds as well and do the volume affect these sounds?
Congratulations on a successful repair. Now if only I can find replacement tuning and signal meters for my Tandberg Tr-1040P receiver, which are hard to find. 🤔
Nice video, I have CRC contact cleaner, CRC 2-26 and "alchohol". I know alchohol is for cleaning, but where and in what order would you use the CRC peoducts ?
Hello. Thank you for your comment. I’m using alcohol for cleaning. But alcohol will dry out the carbon traces in potentiometers, so I normally spray some lubricating electronic cleaner into the potentiometer after cleaning with alcohol, to avoid the traces to dry out.
Mam obecnie na stole ten model do naprawy. Sprawdzałem kondensatory i wykazują dużą trwałość. Żarówki do skali zastosowałem oryginalne , czyli 6.3V 2W .
Serdecznie Ciebie pozdrawiam. @@anatticinnorway2883
I can not tell I have experienced that noice as you describe it, but what I can understand, there are some tantal capacitors inside the stereo decoder, which could cause some problems.
