Hi! I want to know if it is normal that the XLR output sounds louder than the jack output in the TANK-B. Could this be caused by a software problem or is it a hardware deficiency?

It's normal because jack output -20db but XLR out is fully signal

Don't buy - before you've finished reading this. Another Tech 21 bass fly rig clone! But after watching this video I ordered one anyway - and will be returning it. The disadvantages clearly outweigh the advantages. Built-in battery makes it independent of the mains but also very heavy. The battery has no charge level indicator. I never know how long it will last. Better without a battery but with an operating voltage of 5 V. Then I can use any power bank. Reverb and delay okay but not typical for bass. Octaver and fuzz are missing. Pitch shift has no indication in per cent. Can only be set by ear but not specifically to a third or fifth. Operation okay, colours helpful. But the pots are very small and very narrow. Position barely legible. The inventor Tech 21 has solved this much better. Editing presets impossible without the app. 36 presets, 28 of which somehow always sound the same. The sounds sound great with headphones. Very muddy or thin via amp and PA. Hardly any penetration in the overall sound of the band. The IR is actually the best. 8 completely different timbres and sound colours without EQ and without amp simulation. I would definitely buy IR as a separate module. Conclusion. Expensive toy. Better not to buy and practise more.

You have some great points. However I would like to point out that this equipment is not designed towards experts who want an all-in-one substitute for loads of expensive pedals; it is for people who want a simple, cheap and lightweight solution to different sound options without spending huge amounts. And also, it is great for praticing. One can simply plug the instrument and a pair of headphones and play with dozens of different sounds without annoying neighbors or roommates.
Of course the limitations you mentioned are very real, but this equipment has it's place and it's good bang for your buck. To get everything it offers in individual pedals one would spend more than double it's price. I don't know much about Tech 21 and their price/specs, but I will look into it.
      Anyway, thanks for the input!

@@rafaelalbuquerque324 yes. Cheap and leightweight. And it also sounds cheap and lightweight. But Don’t spend money on it. After a short time you are disappointed from the cheap sound and hand, ing. Wait longer, gather money and buy some second hand equipment of better quality. I got an Line 6 Pod Express for 115 ,- € and an Zoom B1four for 55€. That’s much more worth than the tank for 80 €. Who buys cheap, buys twice.

@@wolfram4321 Thank you for your input. I'll look into the models you've mentioned. I still haven't bought the Tank B, so I am basing my evaluation on the Tank G (the guitar version, which I did buy). The Tank G really fitted what I was looking for guitar-wise, but I am more of a bass guy so I am looking for something bass-specific.
What would you recommend that has a headphone jack? So I could pratice in silence without my neighbours wanting to shoot me?

Hello, both of them have an headphone output. Zoom requires an 6,3 mm adapter. Line 6 even already an 3,5 mm. Zoom has Aux for play along. Line 6 can play mp3 only via USB and requires app. If your focus is only headphone practice than try out Nux mighty plug or similar. For mainly recording An irigHD may be more helpful. Theoretically you can practice without amp or headphone and just listen to sound of unamplified strings ….
