The episode opens with the cheese press, which drew me in right away after making a mediocre paneer just the other day, and closed with a 'cheesy' pun. Oh, I love this show!
So I've watched quite a few episodes of this show now (super addictive btw!) And I have 2 questions. 1) do they really just call it quits after like 8-9 hours of work everyday? 2) do they truly only spend 3 days at these sites? Hell I get excited bout some of the stuff they've found, I'd have one hell of a time walking away after just 3 days if I was at one of these digs. They gotta keep going after they finish filming for the show right?
Most of the crew had to go back on Monday to their academic obligations. There was only one episode where they had a skeleton crew go on for a fourth day, to excavate a possibly important skeleton. But yes, they only worked for three days.
@@sward0483 I think of these as initial investigations, to establish if important archaeology is on the site. If it is, they can give it scheduled status, and more work will be done on a later date. There are a few episodes where they found nothing at all, and even that is important to know.
14:22 this part made me curious: they mention that the bones found were of someone over 18 because their wisdom teeth were fully erupted. Mine were out and erupted by age 13, and I finished growing (at least in height) by that time as well. I wonder if there is ever any misidentification in age of skeletons /remains due to an unaccounted development of the human body quicker or slower than is the norm? Either way, I love the Time Team and now knowledgeable everyone seems to be in their professions.
Regardless of what they said normally many skeleton characteristics are evaluated, certainly not just the wisdom teeth which vary wildly. The worst example I know is if an aunt who got them in her 70s... sex can perfectly be identified by DNA, and I think there is some new technique for age with radioisotope ratios if it is worth, but I don't quite remember for sure.
Time team needs to come to America and dig some of these mounds and stuff here. We always just assume the native americans who came over the land bridge when it existed, were the first to be here. There have been some finds here that clearly predate anything we know about the Indians, but for some reason we never seem to explore it. We'll maybe they do and just haven't told us lol
Hi- American archeologist here- we’re working on it aha but there’s a lot of issues with funding, especially for indigenous archeology and how most of American archeology is very specific to when people are building things (especially private building/engineering firms). Additionally, it’s very important to make sure that the ancestors of people indigenous to this land are excavated with permission and respect from ppl from their culture and sometimes that takes more funding than the local government is willing to give 🥲 putting pressure on your state to put more funds into that area or give more teeth back to Section 106 is probably the best way to help imho

Love, Love, LOVE Bleu Cheese. ...just saying. That being SAID; throwing up an advertisement inside the first three minutes is extremely bad form, folks.
Holding the camera on and explaining the artifacts found, would be much more interesting than listening to Tony blathering on about these subjects, that he knows nothing and cares even less about. Not to mention his often condescending attitude towards the professionals, that the producers of this show, have gathered around him. It's obvious to me, that all he cares about is his TV ratings. That's why I quickly pass over any "Time Team" videos that I come across in any media.
_'…Tony blathering on about these subjects, that he knows nothing and cares even less about.'_ I have seen people be completely wrong before but you really shit-the-bed with this ignorant comment. Tony was cast for Time Team on the recommendation of Mick Aston, whom he had met years earlier on an _archaeological vacation_ in Santorini.
this whole crew is a rarity in television where they capture lightning in a bottle for the better part of 20 years with a show that most people wouldnt make it out of the can so tonys blathering may bother you but it seems like there were a huge number of people who thought differently so with nothing nice to say about a show you dont watch just keep moving my good sir
Only Time Team and Sir Tony Robinson could open a programme with ' Welcome to a ditch In Cambridge '. Marvellous !! ❤

You deserve so much more subs. The amount of education you provide is mind blowing.

I discovered time team and then realised they are the real treasure. The relics are just a bonus.
After watching many of time teams programs I've often wondered; Has Tony ever dropped and broken some priceless Roman artifact?
Mick Aston (1 July 1946 - 24 June 2013) , 10 years already
My love of blue cheese was the first thing that made my family think I was a strange child.
one of the top time team episodes
thanks for posting
Do the farmers receive any thing in return for having their fields of crops dug up?😊

It's a shame you don't have more time. 3 days seems to me to be a very hard deadline

Misidentification of the age and gender of skeletons is definitely common. It’s probably wrong the majority of the time, honestly.
