Today I will be swatching my newest Zecchi watercolors for you and I'll also be talking a little about my new watercolor sketchbook, the new Hahnemuhle 100% cotton sketchbook! Really hope you enjoy the video!! ❤️

Artemiranda has the sketchbooks. They have great watercolor paper choices and deliver in the whole word. They even charge you in your currency. Buying most of my paper there.

I have a Hannemule 100% cotton sketchbook and it's one of the best purchases I ever made. Their watercolor paper is the best in my opinion. 😁❤️

Very right tho the paper is like mid press, a mix between hot press and cold press. I bout the a4 size and I'm obsessed. Just enough texture to look amazing and show granulation. But also ink works soooo well. Hanemhule is top tier. I think it 20 times better than Arches.

As an English person "stranded" in the middle of Germany, I am actually living 15 minutes away from that little coutry side place Dassel were Hahnemühle comes from. I love their sketchbook paper but never tried the watercolor one. So, I have to admit I was a little bit confused that you haven't actually tried the new paper. 😇😆 Back to the colours: the Zecchi Carmine Red and the Indigo are totally not what i would expect. I use Schminke water colours which are rich and deep.
Oh, wow, how wonderful to hear you live near where Hahnemuhle comes from! 😊 Schmincke is one of the brands I hope to try more of this year as I've only tried a few of their colours so far! ❤️
I cannot stop thinking this: that permanent green light is ORANGE and I am very confused. The geranium lake, brown madder, and indigo blue are absolutely beautiful, though.
Also: please show us how you mix colors!! Your videos are so calming and your art is so sweet, I do love watching them!

Very intrigued by this Zecchi palette. Never heard of the brand. Also fascinated by your primitive realistic/fantasy style. Don't know exactly what it's called but I love it. Can't wait to see these colors mixed.

I would love to learn more about the "greys" palette you swatched
in the back of the Hahnemuhle watercolor sketchbook.
They were a little sample palette of Daniel Smith grey colors 😊The other grey palette swatch were greys I mixed myself ❤❤
I greatly appreciate your prompt reply. I am interested to learn your custom grey mix recipes. I was unable to read the notes written under the swatches.

I absolutely love the illustrations..especially the background detail that looks like a little piece of paper. I have been painting for years, but I recently started moving more towards illustration ,which is a huge mindshift for me. I love learning from tutorials like this, so I am definitely subscribing. For a moment there I thought I was listening to a South African English person (your accent sounds allot like Cape Town SA English🤣 and the "ai jai jai" is often heard here in English, Afrikaans, Xhosa...you name it🤣) but then...we got our English from Britain.

@@lilymoonart that actually makes allot of sense.. South Africa consists of so many people of which Greeks are also part of. The first Greek to set foot on SA soil was recorded in 1790. 😁
Very nice! Some of your swatching circles were darn near perfect circles, well done! The 100% cotton Hahnemuhle sketchbook looks nice. I tried one of their sketchbooks but it was cellulose paper and not 100% cotton. I didn’t love it. But maybe the 100% cotton one is an improvement?
The 100% cotton is really lovely, although I haven't tried their other cellulose paper sketchbook to compare. 😊

A week ago I was in Florence and visited Zecchi, where I purchased their Raw Umber watercolour (there wasn’t a colour chart or pigment numbers available and raw umber seemed like a safe choice) and an absolutely gorgeous set of handmade Amatruda paper.
I found your channel looking for videos about their watercolours and your videos are awesome! Just subscribed to your channel.
Now, looking at the colour chart in their website, it looks like your permanent green light was mislabelled. Perhaps you should contact them and see what they say? I have also watched your other video in which you swatch more of their colours and I am sorry I haven’t found your channel while in Florence. That second row is to die for! The ultramarine blue is beautiful! Is it their ultramarine blue light?
I officially have art store envy! I would love to go to their store in Florence, how wonderful you went there! 😊And that handmade paper sounds divine! The ultramarine I bought from them, is called Ultramarine Blue Deep and it is a gorgeous ultramarine! 💙I will look into the permanant green light, thank you for the tip!! The art stores in Florence are quite small but have a great selection of brands at very good prices, a wonderful surprise to me since it is a very touristic town and everything tends to be more expensive in areas like this one. Many products were less expensive than here in France, where I live, if I can find them at all.
The Zecchi shop is a small wonderful and organised mess, like my desk, I have to say. Hopefully I will be able to return soon!
I need to get that ultramarine! It is so soft that I thought it was the light one. And green earth, dragon blood, and and and… 😬 The handmade paper is gorgeous! I still need to test it but I think I’ll have do do so using the envelope that wrapped the A5 sheets. It is 100% cotton but I have no idea if it holds watercolours well. If not, I will use it with graphite or coloured pencils. Zecchi doesn’t seem to sell it online, but the manufacturer, Amatruda, does.

Somewhere online the pigment information for Zecchi and their partner company in Poland are available. Their cobalts are really lovely. I think it very much depends on what type of qualities you are looking for. I like having different types of watercolour…. Each brand has its own quirks. And colours are not always what you think they will be. That’s why pigment info is important. I like you choices. I chose 21 colours, and love the greens in particular…. Pigment names by the way are absolutely no indicator! There is not consistency in names at all and different countries seem to just very arbitrary about how they name them. If I find the pigment info I will post it for you.

How...odd. It looks like they misnamed almost all the colors. I have several Geranium Lakes, and they are...geranium red without any brown undertone.
Regardless, the video is delightful!
