      If it had the ability to destroy factories and holes (which it really should have) i would love it as a weapon. But nah, they nerf an already bad weapon..

      The team reload thing probably would require an entirely new animation. Animations take a long time to create.

      If it was an option nobody would do it. There's a reason they put these mechanics in the game, because if you want that power, then you need to have somebody reload for you. It's not that big of a deal. And most of those things don't even really take that long to reload, you just have to time it and not try to do it in the middle of a breach.

    They making too many drastic changes to keep that Day 1 struggle feel.
    This is what’s gonna destroy the game, because there’s never gonna be a sense of true progression. What’s the point of me grinding war bonds and getting new stratagems if they’re just gonna be nerfed heavy next week.
    This is the equivalent to getting a pay raise at work, but ur landlord then raises the rent by double.

      @@AsterTDs but then railgun gets nerfed to shreds, and quasar becomes a 15 second liability. Imagine playing SOLO with INCREASED MOBS, and you have to wait another 15 seconds cuz you hit the wrong part of a charger (while there’s 3 other chargers coming at you).
      Also why would I buy into a warbond, if I’m not getting the product I’m expecting? If the community loves a gun… say goodbye.
      You basically get a paid 1 week trial of having a slight power advantage before you are back at square 1 after grinding multiple warbonds. Imagine that for ppl not spending money on the game. 100’s of hours just to be stuck in the same spot as week 1.

      Well tbf people still play league of legends and it's a game that every time a champ is releasead there's 90% it's stupid broken just to be nerfed the very next weekly patch.
      And the game has been going on for more than a decade.

      @@majinkevinci the thing is, league is a PvP game. Balancing changes are NEEDED because it’s a competitive platform. Can’t have any notable advantages during professional tournaments otherwise it becomes hard to compete.
      Helldivers is a PvE game. The bugs and the bots aren’t complaining about balancing. Instead they keep coming with increased drop ship numbers and breaches. Yet, we’re subject to nerfs just cuz “increased struggle = fun”. If I wanted a struggle PvE game, I’d play Elden Ring.

      I took a break after the first month of the game release, with this update and all the other stuff seem fun and good, will be back grinding and spreading democracy

      Im taking a break until they figure out where they want things to generally be.
      Which i just cant firgure out how they cant land this. The last game barely had any noticeable changes between patches and its a great place to spring board from.
      All they had to do was say "hey, whats the spawn rate of X enemy, what weapons affect X enemy, how many mags does X weapon have, etc"
      But its like a whole new team that just forgot theres a whole first game out there.

      I'm in the same boat. I've never left a game because I didn't like updates but Helldivers updates feel so jank that I cannot stick around until I can actually play without the worry of it feeling entirely different next week.

    It's hilarious to me that part of the community is celebrating others having a bad time and leaving the game due of the constant nerfs. Like brother, your beloved game is falling off because of this, matchmaking will get worse, the studio makes less money, updates will come less often, etc. If you start gatekeeping an online game, it'll eventually just die.

      It makes sense to care this much about "balanced weapons" in an MMORPG or a competitive shooter. But this is a 1-4 player co-op game. I really don't care if one guy can clear helldives solo, good for him. Not everyone has the time, patience, or friends, to deal with group play. And that's ok.

    Having more patrol is not fun. The meat of the game is attacking outpost/nest without triggering a massive dropship/infestation. Not being stopped every few minutes by a new patrol spawning from nowhere.

      I absolutely agree good sir. What’s the point of doing POIs and side objectives when there’s enemies literally EVERYWHERE?! What’s that? A bug breach? You want to run and break line of sight between the enemies? Well unlucky for you cause wherever you run, there are three patrols of hunters, seven chargers, two bile titans and a stalker nest. Fun shit I tell ya!

    Bullet reflection should work both ways. Any bot shooting us carrying a shield or wearing heavy armor, those bullets should reflect back. That’s actually just fair.

      The spray and pray was originally intended to shoot directly at helldiver that is surrounded by bugs. The bullet would bounce off the armor of player while killing the swarms.
      For whatever reason, they decided then our armor should not deflect bullets. Hence the change to increased armor penetration. An indication they will never want bullet deflection on heavy armor for helldiver.

    Completely agree on the Quazar, people used it because it was reliable and effective, while the alternative options weren't and still aren't great options. Players don't want to just run the same exact loadout all the time, we want to mix things up and have good reasons for running different loadouts, so it'd be far better to buff the other options.

      You don't see shit like this even in a PVP game... they do drastic changes, in a PVP game they do very minimal changes, so they don't f up the entire thing, and make minimal changes in the next update if needed... here they slap 50% - to this and that like it's nothing, or change things that makes the game play entirely different...

    People weren’t just sheep-ing when they use the quasar, that feels a bit reductive and rude. We used it because with the current state of armored bug spam, there’s no time to kneel in the middle of a fight to reload a recoilless. It was a semi on demand anti armor weapon that we could hot swap to in order to be able to move around and shoot the rest of the fodder after taking a shot. They nerfed it because everyone was using it and didn’t look any deeper at WHY. It was a perfectly balanced weapon.

      people were absolutely sheeping when they picked the quasar for bots, it's just not great there yet it was the most seen support weapon. Against bugs it was a good pick but still overrepresented, though probably because it was simple and easy to use compared to other support weapons

      When you aim the Quasar, you are standing there almost completely still for 3 seconds to charge.
      The recoilless takes 5 seconds to reload.
      We are not the same.

      I see why people use the ant tank rocket and the quasar in game now to deal with the dam run bug like bio can be deal with but then big ass big that run for you can fk up your run if 3 of them on you like per nerf the quasar was deal with that kinder bs but now that 15 sec wait time just kill it use of people make it hard to deal with them

    Really feels like they either don't want us to have fun or straight up don't know what they're doing. Like, cool, the marksman rifles are finally decent but we're still keeping the Slugger in the trash because we don't want it being the better marksman rifle even though marksman rifles are better now.
    The buffs are appreciated but didn't do much to make bad weapons that much better on helldives. While the nerfs to the "OP" weapons only made them more of an inconvenience to use if anything.

    Just let me reload recoiless bro (and all the others) from his own backpack. I like the required teamplay idea but trying to coordinate cute matching outfits with randos is impossible.

      I once tried to reload someone's AC and it was only after i got myself extra ac backpack so user can use it while being alone and i can help reload when needed. It kinda sucks because 1) i have to wait for him to drop me backpack as im running amr, 2) i exit reload stance without a reason so i have to get close to him and find right spot to re enter it.
      Once it worked out, destruction it brought was great as two of us basically held off entire drop from geo survey objective.
      If i could reload off of his then i would bring supply pack and help. It would make more sense to bring one and help your mate. At the current state either we swap backpacks or rely on 2 backpack to be somewhat useable.

      Yeah it really doesn't make sense from an ergonomics perspective either. You'd have to twist your wrist and put it in such a compromised position to grab these big full-sized cannon shells, instead of having it on THEIR back where it is also conveniently right next to the butt of the recoilless rifle's loading portion

    IMO this patch was a loss. The buffs we got were so minor they don't really matter (Other than to the senator and Dilligence CS) wheras the nerfs were pretty huge (and they crapped on the crossbow which was already mid)

      That crossbow both makes zero sense... why give it such crappy bullet arc if you want to make it a single target weapon. Pre-nerf, it was a decent range / hoard clear weapon... I found that out when a bug kept setting the crossbow as my primary at login when I had the eruptor selected last game.

      @@papagroovy9909 I like the feel of the liberator but it is horrendous in lvl 9, runs out of ammo way to fast, also the 5 damage buff literally does nothing, no noticeable difference at all, maybe brood commanders die in one less bullet? Yay?

    They need to change assisted reload to have the helper remove ammunition from the shooter's pack to load the weapon to the one with the recoilless carries their own pack instead of splitting the weapon and ammo between two people. As it is now, the recoilless will never measure up to the rest when you have to have a designated powder monkey.
    Quasar got nerfed because it was used regularly by players playing solo. It's just like when they got mad that people were able to solo Helldive after launch. They looked at gear picks and said "Oh, they're soloing with breaker, railgun and shield backpack, nerf them all". If you play this game solo, arrowhead unironically hate you.

      It always never made sense to me how it would be more efficient to have someone else wear the ammo bag, just the idea of lifting out those heavy ass shells with your arm twisted backwards is so much more ineffective than just taking shells out of the bag from someone else since you already have to stand at their shoulder to reload them

      This. Its not even overpowered, its just self sufficient loadouts to deal with everything. If there are even 2 players i liked eats more bc you could either both take them and have plenty or have more airstrikes.. when solo you get limited to the thing that kills the biggest repeatedly bc you can't just wait for cooldowns

      Powder monkey? The loader has a very important job while team loading, making sure that the launcher isn't caught by surprise. This is a team game, stick with your team and you will succeed more often than not.
      Plus, it's more efficient having the loader carry the RR pack anyway while the launcher carries the supply pack
      The launcher can fill up the RR ammo easily this way.

      It was obvious from the beginning with the Bunkers hard requiring a teammate.
      Helldivers 1 did not hard force you into coop.
      These devs are clueless and definitely hate solo players

    Dagger doesn't feel like a laser pointer any more. It went from "is this dealing damage" to "this feels a bit weak"

    1:40 Keep the Croissant Cannon as it was, and just let any teammate help you reload by taking the ammo from your backpack instead of them having to carry the ammo backpack for a specific support weapon. That alone will balance anti-tank support weapons

      Yeah being able to load from the gunner's backpack would be big. I understand the intention of the devs though. They wanted to have a specific gunner and loader, which is closer to real life examples. Most crew served guns are too heavy for 1 man to carry himself, with some weapons actually being broken down between up to 3! soldiers to carry it. Something like an Autocannon would weigh at _least_ 50lbs given its chunky construction, and 60 rounds of ~20mm rifle rounds would also be a pretty hefty load for even just one guy to carry

    the nerf to damage of guard dog rover seems to me like a buff, since i use it mostly to kill the fodder enemies who die nearly instantly anyways, but if it hits you or a teammate you can survive it more easily

      It's a massive nerf. Pre nerf if a Hunter leaped at you the Rover would kill it mid air if it wasn't focused on anything else. Post nerf that Hunter is getting a hit off on you, makes it nearly useless for keeping Hunters off you, you can especially feel it in Hunter planets where it doesn't feel like it's doing anything where pre nerf it effectively kept 90% of Hunter's off of you with good movement. The Guard Dog Gun is infinitely superior at killing Hunters at the moment but it's bugged/poorly designed right now because it only reloads off of resupplies and not ammo drops. In solo and duos when you can guarantee that Resupply on cooldown for yourself it's a fantastic backpack but if you can't guarantee that then it's nigh useless.

    Played a bug nest mission on level 7 today and the spawn rate of stalkers was insane. Literally couldn't get near the stalker lair without 2 to 4 stalkers jumping you and with their invisibility being buffed I just gave up and left the game 😑

      And somehow at difficult 8, i still get teammates would run off to do whatever when they get their ass tongue by the stalkers without dealing with the nest. It just me shouting to the void with “Stalker, let’s get their nest!!”.

      Increase Stalker spawnrates by 100% to balance this.
      Also remove the Railgun and Arc Thrower from the game
      Increase headshot damage by 3,000%

    Team assisted reloading for THIS game is not ideal. You can’t always run beside your gunner to reload him when shit hits the fan, this is not Helldivers 1 where it’s as easy because the shared screen is forcing you to stay together. Plus the reload your team mate animation gets jank.

      I mean if you ever try it with the recoiless, you'll realize how strong it is.. the fire rate is something else considered its rockets.. but yeah unrealistic to expect other player to give up their backpacks especially randos.. I like the idea of someone team reloading you using the back pack your carrying

      This comparison is great, because the first helldivers is a much more teamwork oriented game. Me and my friends had to draw out plans and roles before going into missions to even survive. This game is all about running on your own, kiting enemies, and running away because enemies are so fast our outswarm you so quick. Nothing in this game incentivizes teamplay, yet they still want us to help reload each other :/

      RR DPS is significantly better than quasar, and teammates and switch the roles midmissiom by switching the launcher and packs if desired.
      Yeah, you can't necessarily expect pubs to want to be team players. If they are team players though, those are the ones you'll want to send a friend request to

      Considering how powerful a weapons team recoilless is, it SHOULDN'T be easy to always link up. You need good communication and tactics to make the most out of it. And that is okay. It shouldn't be dumbed down because some people are too daft to coordinate which way to kite or when to disengage and when to link up again. It's part of the fun.

    I think AH's unspoken stance on how to promote using other weapons is to nerf the weapons people are using and it just doesn't work. We've shown that the carrot works better than the stick time and time again.
    They make AT weapons better against heavies? More AT options open up. They nerf Queso Cannon? People still use it but just complain more.
    I'm tired of hearing the "only buffing is bad balancing" argument. At the end of the day it's a PvE game and all the guns should be fun. I can't see a single use case for 90% of the guns and I WANT to like them all.

      Ive read somewhere that it was like that: solo should have 1/4 of patrols but actually was 1/6. Now it is 1/4, so basically you have to kill the same amount solo as in a team. Dont know if that is true tho.

Every solo player pre-patch had at least one comment asking why their patrols were so minimal. now we know why and all those same solo players are crying about it.

    The fact people are still taking the Q-Cannon over the alternatives despite how not great it feels now still says how painfully bad the alternatives are. Needing to carry ammo packs literally removes the ability to use Guard Dogs, Shields, and Jump Packs. Those SUPER useful backpacks will always outway a launcher that needs it's ammo carried and only kills Chargers, Titans, Hulks, etc. maybe 40% of the time.

      The only time I would not use the quassar cannon is when the cooldown between each shot is more than 35 seconds. Even at 34 seconds per shot, it still outclasses the EAT which only shoots 2 shots every 70 seconds. That’s not even including the call in time to be fair. I can give the quassar cannon to a buddy after the call in cooldown, which also frees up a strategem. That’s a free orbital laser we can drop on 3 heavy bases/objectives.

    This patch further solidifies my belief that there is at least one developer who is purposefully sabotaging the game in minor ways because they enjoy the sense of power it gives them over the playerbase. Most weapons receive fairly minor adjustments, but there is always one or two weapons that just get completely curb stomped for some reason. Why did they take away _half_ the ammo of the Eruptor? In my eyes, that is an excessive over-correction that only serves to make people stop using the weapon altogether, it's not _balancing_ in the slightest. You don't just remove everything from one side of the scale all at once, you make minor adjustments until the scales are equal.

    Team loading should be changed so that your teammate doesn't need to wear the backpack. They should just be able to reload off the pack that you're wearing. Not even in a 4 player premade lobby would I want to sacrifice my backpack slot so my friend gets a slightly faster reload time. Also I think it'd be cool if airburst had a mode where you hold down fire and it'll keep traveling and once you let go of the trigger it'll detonate.

    In regards to your closing statement, I agree 100%. Group think kills the fun of experimentation. Recently, I've been using the Orbital Gatling Barrage, and I actually really like. It like many things can be hard to aim, and could use some slight tweaks with the aim such as actually aiming at targets even slightly. Back to your point, I like when we all have a free stratagem to use like when we got the 110mm eagle strikes. I never run them but I used them enough to have fun while it was "issued" to us.

    The only truly good thing in the Democratic Detonation warbond now is the grenade pistol (Eruptor is ok still, but good luck trying to clear the zillion hunters pressing W at you)

    The first game did have individual resupply call ins, but you had to select it as one of the four stratagems you bring. You might think that sucks but consider this. It had a really fast cooldown when upgraded (plus you could have a perk that gives you a flat 40% cooldown decrease). You didn’t have to bring it depending on your loadout (you have an energy weapon, no support weapon and etc). Only one person could run it and it would mostly be fine for the whole team. There’s no stims and grenades were whatever in the first game so all you had to worry about was ammo

      both have 3min CD base (in HD1 required perk for 40% reduction, HD2 has passive upgrade giving 10% reduction) and give 4 packs
      in HD2 if you even fell like you need more, you can always take Supply pack and just use it as extra resupply + it doubles resupply effectiveness if you pickup resupply while having empty slot in Supply Pack, through it doesn't work if you're using support weapon that has ammo backpack

    8:57 - resupply was just a regular stratagem in first game, so everyone was able to bring it on a mission. Even multiple ones. At the same time, when joining someone you were not able to see their loadouts. Pretty often you join team of 3 players, not bringing resupply because you assume some of them have one and immediately realize - no, they don't have it =D

    I went quasar because it let me deal with chargers every few seconds.
    I can still run from the horde and shoot when it's back up, no need to lock myself in a long ass reload animation which isn't happening vs terminids, and I'm not screwed if i need more than 2 shots every 80 second.
    Even lets you get a rover or a shield.
    It was simply more versatile, still is i'd argue.

    Talking about the recoiless and such... The team reload should not require the team mate to carry your luggage. 99.9% of random players will never give up their backpack slot for your convenience.
    Team reload should work while you are carrying your own stuff.
    That one, simple change would make recoiless an enticing pick

      I wouldnt mind helping fellow diver reload their rr faster and keep running as it would benefit us both. However i would never give up on rover, jump pack, supply pack for whatever build im going for as it would ruin the build just to help anither diver to reload faster? Trade off is too disadvantagous for benefit it brings.

      Yeah, this seems to have been a stealth change.
      More precisely, it used to be that the reload had 4 steps, where you would get a "checkpoint" after each one and could resume from there if interrupted:
      - Unlock and rotate away the blast cone
      - Remove shell
      - Insert shell
      - Rotate the blast cone back and lock it
      Now, it only has the middle two: Removing the spent shell and inserting the new one.
      So the weapon is considered loaded as soon as the new shell is fully seated, and you can animation cancel the part where you rotate and lock the blast cone.
      (But if you get interrupted before removing the old shell, you now also have to open the blast cone again even if you did it previously)

    I think that’s one of the biggest issues I run into when playing with randoms. Theres that one player running around solo dropping supply drops for themselves without consulting with the squad like they don’t exist.

    I got to say something about the guard dogs :
    The liberator rifle got a slight buff - 5dmg. Which means that the dog makes - slightly more damage.
    Now the scythe did get whoping 50 dmg increase, so the dog would be almost better than all Helldivers, and could kill all 4 Helldivers in few seconds, so it got nerfed by 30 percent, resulting in guard dog performing roughly the same as before, kills small stuff fast, but maybe it won't kill helldiver *that* fast

      Yep. That's why the ballistic guard dog got a "slight buff". It's because they bumped the liberator and it effects both. They just didn't want the laser obliterating enemies and helldivers alike.

      The problem with this 5 dmg buff is that it's a spreadsheet dmg. The damage operates in breakpoints per enemy. If target has 150 HP, increasing damage from 55 to 60 did literal nothing, you will need 3 shots to kill it anyway. And all other enemies with larger health pools usually have medium+ armor, which Lib can't penetrate.
      So far I'm under the impression this is a pure placebo change and not even a buff.

      @@ashero2092 well breakpoints aren't set in stone as you don't always deal listed damage, raising damage makes weapon more reliable at clearing thresholds (most notable on Diligence and Diligence CS)
      First is damage drop off from range (depends on weapon, for example DCS could one tap Devastator head before patch up to ~17m, now it can at all practical ranges)
      Second is damage reduction from matching armor 50% (when armor is matching penetration, light pen weapon against light armor.)
      Third is damage reduction from deflections 50% (hits at high angle when penetration is one level above armor, AMR and AC against Devastator Bodies)
      Fourth Body part damage multipliers

    Dough, the Recoiless got a massive reload speed buff with the ammo bug fix, now you can tap your strategem button or weapon swap to cancel the reload as soon as your character puts in the new shell, you can cut the reload by like a second and a half, so you got a roughly 4 second reload that can be separated in two stages

      The RR does have a 4~ second reload, the fix to its ammo discard bug appears to have made its 3rd stage unnecessary now and if you cancel the animation by tapping the crouch button to stand up you can fire right away. Whether this is intentional or not is unclear.

      Recoilless is way worse than quasar: Limited ammo, 5 business days to reload and needs backpack. Those weapons are not equal. The recoilless SHOULD be able to reload while moving and should do much more damage than quasar, otherwise nobody will use It. Nerfing the quasar is bullsht decision.

    I love these devs but they have no idea how to change player behaviour. If you want people to do something make it more fun/effective instead of making the fun stuff worse... Just like the quasar cannon vs recoilless you buff recoilless dont nerf quasar (well maybe nerf it a little... an infinite antitank that doesnt take up a backpack and reloads passively is kinda op)
    Or idk let people team reload without the backpack because its really really silly. nobody uses it purely because of this. useless feature without it honestly...

      The way the patrols used to work is that solo players would have 1/6th the spawns of 4 man squads, which then scaled non linearly. This was apparently unintended, so they've increased the spawns of solo players to 1/4 of a full squad, which now scales linearly.

You can easily end up running into 4+ patrols at a time leading to you getting overwhelmed. It doesn't help that patrols can spawn very close behind you, it's not fun running away from a massive wave you cannot clear only to run into a bunch of hunters and a charger behind you. I'd be fine with this if patrols at least could not spawn close to the player and could only spawn in a large radius around them.

    8:58 So the Resupply stratagem in the first game was one that was not shared between the entire team, which meant that someone had to bring it along with them in their stratagem loadout. Sometimes, two people had to bring the Resupply stratagem to keep pace with the later difficulties. Also, keep in mind that in the first game, everyone shared the same overhead camera, so you couldn't just run off and do things on your own when playing in a squad while keeping the Resupply to yourself.
    It also only restored ammo, and the first game did not have Stims, and healing was done through other methods like having a drone or picking up your teammates when they went below 50% health.

    I was one of those people who always ran quasar in bugs. But, unlike the autocannon, which feels fun as hell to use, the Quasar is one of, if not the most boring weapon in the game: you have to sit there, with sight on target for a few seconds, then you have to wait for cooldown...
    For me, it's the least fun weapon in the game, and if nerfing it means that in upcoming patches other anti-tanks will be buffed, so be it, and good riddance! However, I really cant be too sure other A-Ts will be buffed, given the somewhat erratic patching criteria of the dev team...

    I like the quasar because I can wear my shield pack. I work full time and have a family, i maybe play 3 or 4 hours of GAMES per week max. I dont have time to git gud and have no interest in doing so.

    Mobility is in core of this game. On highest difficulty levels if you standing still during the battle you are probably gonna die. Team reload kinda makes both of you that stationary target. Also you constantly have to be right near each other, otherwise weapon cannot be reloaded even by user. I really support idea to change this mechanic so it can be done even if backpack is on gun user. Yeah, this mechanic comes from first game, but it was significant difference which makes it more viable - everyone share one screen. Also in first game you goes into crawl state before you die and your teammates are able to basically instantly heal you back by just running to you and pressing one button. This also makes it more reliable to use team reload because it's easier to get to your foots and continue shooting in cases when some of you get down. And even with all this I rarely saw anybody use it. So no wonder almost nobody is using it now.

    Honestly I cant understand the last updates. The weapon usage and damage has no sense. They nerf good weapons and players DO NOT have real builds variations. Almost all players are using the Quasar Cannon, because there are not real alternatives to fight against strong/armored enemies. Autocannon is pretty good but you need to use the ammo backpack and it isnt the best option against aircrafts, chargers, titans, etc... Devs are improvising different bullsht in the last patches, as a early access would do.

    I wish that there was a weapon for the bug front that is similar in function to the autocannon on bot front, it blows my mind that apparently the autocannon is the gold standard for balance and its good against literally every single enemy on the bot front but weapons that are only good against certain bugs and are rather meh on bots get nerfed, why

    Hey OhDough, I appreciate the information you provide, and I appreciate the time you put into your videos. However, I feel I need point out a flaw in your Quasar Cannon cooldown timer at the start of the video - these times displayed are labeled incorrectly. Your times labeled as cooldown are including the cooldown *and* charge time combined instead of just the cooldown. The cooldown between charges was 10 seconds pre-patch, 15 seconds post-patch. To verify, you can replicate this by starting your timer the moment the quasar fires until it is ready to fire again. (Ex: First test: 03.02s for initial charge, 10.00s for recharge, 03.03s for second charge.- Amounts to the 16.05s you arrived at.) Other than that, I appreciate your content, and I look forward to your next video!
    *(Edit:)* Yes, I do agree that the 5s penalty was a bit too much, I could understand maybe 2-3s, but an extra 5s (50%) on the clock can make a hairy situation spiral downhill quickly.

    8:42 the dagger is on the final page of cutting edge so its not really a building block weapon. I also dont agree that ALL of these weapons are meant to be replace by better versions, particularly the counter snipe.

      Yeah, that's something that annoys me a lot about these discussions. It's /okay/ for some weapons to be bad, there's doing to be disappointments, not everything will be a winner. I've been running the DCS for months, up until the funny blitzer buff (which I used before as well), it was my favorite primary. Yes, I took it on helldive and did fine, but it's extremely C Tier. Folks scream and rant about their favorite weapons getting the slightest nerf, or how "hurr weapon bad" like it won't be fun to use at the end of the day. Suddenly everyone becomes a expert game designer and scream at the team without taking the slightest consideration that this is maybe a fifty man team with a lot on their plate, and if something is stinky they can just change it.
      It's toxic how this community does "discourse".

      Yeah the point that weapons are meant to replace each other in a stat hierarchy was hella dumb, they wouldn’t have buffed the Liberator for instance if you were supposed to replace it with the Defender or Sickle, which they did

Its just simply worse.. maybe they could have tweaked the lib pen instead of adding a second med pen full auto small mag rifle but now they have 2 that are identical roles with one just being better

    Love the cycle of releasing a warbond or stratagems with maybe 2 things worth using, then they get nerfed cause the playerbase obviously gravitates to them over the rest of the slop. Arrowhead is starting to really show their spite towards their community

    Yeah I would've even met them halfway with 3 seconds on the quasar. It was 100% nerfed soley on usage rate, but was used because of the fun factor. Eats and recoiless still had fantastic use cases. I'll still use it whenever I use a shield pack, but I'll go back to recoiless for most missions.

    in the past 6 or so dives on difficulty 7 we have not gotten ANY super samples and the random team I played with this last dive no one even extracted alive. I'm not sure what the deal is but for some reason it is much harder. roving Guard dog (the laser one) is dog shit now.

    I've tested the armor buff/reduced headshot damage:
    You don't take less headshot damage with 100 or less armor rating, but if you do have more than 100 armor rating it scales and you take less damage the further over 100 you go. Also make sure to take the Vitality booster, it makes a huge difference on headshots.

    hey dough, the recoiless rifle reload is now significantly shorter since they attempted to fix the extra ammo consumption bug but now you dont have to wait for the animation to finish. As soon as you put the shell in the gun the reload is completed and can be interrupted.This reload can also be split into two: take shell out and put shell in. Not saying this is what they intended but I now find this bug makes RR much more versatile

    the scythe, the dagger, and the peacemaker are all totally usable now.
    scythe does a decent job of melting through things. A second or two of damage and most things are done.
    the dagger is about the same. it's more skill based than most other things because you have to keep the beam on target, plus manage heat. This SHOULD allow for skill based play via weapon swapping to eliminate cooldowns. It feels like the dagger builds heat too fast, but I may not have tried it on enough planets.
    peacemaker is taking out littles and the smaller mediums in very few shots. It got like a 20% buff in damage or something. It's up to 70 damage per shot. For a secondary this is putting in work. 140 damage from two shots takes out most smaller things.

    6:06 that would make sense... if unlock progression wasn't so borked to begin with. They give you most of the good stuff right at the begining, with important armors and boosters being at the middle of free warbond, than they flood you with side or even straight downgrades of base guns and only at the very end you get the "OP" thing. This weird power curve along with ubiquity of armor types makes it confusing to practise different builds, which is probably why "meta" is such a big concern.

    The solo patrols thing is a prick move for people who have social anxiety and don't want to play with randos and the toxicity. Unless you're a professional streamer or RUclipsr it was already hard to get super samples. There should be a system to trade 5 rare samples for a super sample.

      Solo players are supposed to get 1/4 of the patrols of a full squad whereas before the patch they were getting 1/6 all they did was fix the ratio to what it was supposed to be.

    devs are hellbend on making the game and the weapons as little fun as possible, so many random and stupid changes half of the time based solely on popularity because they cant stand too many people using the same loadout ... maybe if they brought more weapons to fun and good levels instead of making 90% of the options feel miserable to use people would try different stuff

      thats exactly what they are doing though. Most people that are upset by this balance patch seem to totally ignore the buffs on the list and just focus on shit like uh.... The Eruptor being nearly identical to what it was before. You want more weapons on fun and good levels? Just this update the blitz shotgun, revolver and the plasma punisher got a strong and fun buff. Hell, even the adjudicator feels pretty good now. And your point about making weapons as little fun as possible is actual nonsense too, all the nerfs were non-consequential besides the crossbow one.

      @@shrimpin4145 just because there are multiple ''buffs'' listed that basically dont do anything doesnt mean they are making other weapons any good, giving a few points of damage to a sniper thats 1/4 of the power of the better weapons is a joke and most of the buffs are like that basically there so you can say there were also buffs none of the changes made any new weapon good, fun or viable at any stage of the game ... the weapons from the basic warbond need huge buffs they are simply that bad ... blitz shotgun is nice but not everyone has it and because of the weird textures its just so awkward and not fun to use, revolver is nice quality of life, punisher is fine ... giving the explosive sniper a 50% ammo nerf and a dmg/aoe nerf right after people spent money on that stuff is basically a scam, nerfing the crossbow which was already terrible and needed a buff is just absolute insanity and just tells you how clueless the devs are and that they are just throwing out changes at random without understanding anything about balance ... and then there are nerfs like the spore spewers that feel like their choices come straight out of a random generator

      @@613Nightmare i dont know what to tell you man, the update made three weapons actually viable, and i would argue 4 cause one of the sniper rifles got an damage buff that lets it finally one shot devestators. The nerfed weapons except the crossbow feel still as good as ever. If you dont find these weapons viable now maybe you should take a step back and see if youre playing the game wrong. The shroom cloud change also makes sense to me, because before that you could barely call it a side objective and was way way easier than any other objective in the game. If people like you had the control over the balance of the game any challenge would be gone.

      The other buffs were decent(Laser Cannon was good before this patch, and the nerf to the crossbow was just stupid.
      Still need to test the Peacemaker, both diligence and counter sniper.
      Scythe is still a disappointment 😞

    You asked a question. It's a common question from gamers. I made video games professionally for over a decade, and I think I can provide some insight.
    Here's the basic situation. There are four things with different attributes. One of those things ends up being much preferable by players due to how it works. That one thing is being used 80+% by the top tier players. Those players CAN use the other three things. But, that one item performs better enough that it's the item of preference.
    Why not buff the other three things to be as good as the one outlier?
    Were people succeeding on levels too easily, just enough, or did the levels seem too hard? This is a really important question to ask. My group of level 100+ helldivers do max difficulty missions and get all sub objectives and clear all lairs and we do 40 minute missions in 15-20 minutes. We're not only completing EVERY mission, if a 40 mission takes more than 20 minutes on the highest difficulty it feels sloppy. Sounds to me like the game is too easy. None of us are exactly pro gamers (I made games professionally, but I'm certainly not a pro gamer).
    Is the game possible with the other less optimal equipment? Yes, yes it is. It's harder than with the one favorite item. But, it's possible.
    Is it acceptable to make the game harder? Well, I think we just recognized that the game is too easy with the optimal equipment, and the game is possible with the less optimal equipment. So, do we take the power level of the less optimal equipment and raise those up so they meet that optimal item ... or do we diminish the optimal item? Well, if you want the game to be harder, you diminish the optimal item.
    What's your rate of missions attempted to missions completed? How often do you totally fail a mission (when you're not experimenting with something or trying something weird out)? It's pretty rare, right? So, the game isn't too hard ... unless you get a batch of horrible randoms from quickplay ...... Making equipment more powerful makes the game easier. That begins to trivialize the game.
    TADA! That's the basic reasoning behind why the original railgun got nerfed and why the quasar got nerfed. If that nerf goes too far or not far enough ... that's a whole different story. But, if you take a step back and think about the situation ... the reasoning behind why these guys do what they do becomes pretty clear.
    It's definitely true that nerfs are a feel bad moment. But, sometimes they're needed for the overall health of the game.

      Honestly, the game isnt this easy. We usually play a 2 or 3 man squads and get clapped by automatons at difficulty 7. Cause of random patrol spawning behind or drop ships being called by bots outside of our range. Idk how yall think this game is too easy. I think it is just right. I dont want to sweat to death to update a single ship module

      Thank you for this. I feel like a lot of people within this community (including this channel and the commenter above me) and the gaming community more generally don't always understand the realities of what they're asking for or appreciate the thought that does go into the decisions behind a change. For example, the "only buff" sentiment is just absolute nonsense if one actually thinks about it. Sure developers make mistakes but just because you're salty about another developer doesn't mean this one behaves the same. Who's more likely to think about a game more thoroughly, the guy who plays the game for fun a few hours maybe every night or the person whose job it is to work on the game every working hour most days of the week and whose livelihood depends on the health of the game. What's going to likely create more mistakes, changing one overtuned weapon, or changing every weapon that's underpeforming by comparison.
      Most if not all these changes need to be worked on by a lot of different people. You want to multiply that workload over an order of magnitude more weapons every patch? That sounds pretty unsustainable especially when you consider how frequent the updates already are for this game. I've never played a live-service that felt this alive. If they started doing this, they'd have to start charging more to pay for more staff or start worsening the game through neglect or in other ways to compensate.
      I feel like it's rare to hear this channel ever talk positively about anything that might make things harder for a player. The only thing I can think of is in this video about buffing the small bot striders. It certainly feels like he and many others don't appreciate the work that goes on behind the scenes and frankly it's pretty insulting to hear someone say even as someone not in game development that the extent to which all developers look at when weapon balancing is just popularity. It honestly seems like they're projecting with how many out of touch comments I've read from these people. Like get over yourself, dude. 😂

    I'm confused at your stance that the "basic warbond" should be the basic guns, while the premium warbonds should have the "good guns."
    Sure, you can get super credits playing the game, but it's still a huge step towards making the game pay2win.

      Unlocking a warbond doesn't instantly or even quickly unlock weapons. You can get 1k super credits in less than 2 hours of playtime by farming it and less than 10 hours by just playing the game regular and doing poi's

      First, as @FireInNight27 said, most people absolutely do not get supers that fast (I know I don't!). I put 250 hours into the game and if I didn't get the deluxe version to get Steeled Veterans Warbond that way, I would not be able to unlock the last warbond.
      Second, let's say you're right and supers don't take that long and I just suck at finding them, wouldn't your logic apply to medals as well since we find them in POI too? If you can get 1k super credits in 2 hours of playtime by farming it (I assume level 1 poi resetting, which I don't works anymore), then you can use the same method to get about 200 medals. I won't fill out a warbond, but it will get you at least the first tier or two of weapons.
      Third, let's say you're right on 1 and I'm wrong on 2... wouldn't that make the premium warbond primary weapons easier to get in general, since you need far less medals to get the page 3 primary on them over the page 10 non-premium primary? Shouldn't the Scythe be the "best primary" since it's the hardest to get via page 10?
      Fourth, taking that logic a bit further, wouldn't that mean that the lower level stratagems should be worse than the higher level ones? Nerf the Anti-Materiel Rifle because it unlocks faster than the Heavy Machine Gun? Make the Eagle Airstrike worse than the 110MM Rockets because you get them at a lower level? Not apples to apples sure, but I hope you at least get where I'm going with this.

    I noticed today while playing that you no longer have to sit through the entire recoiless reload animation. The moment you stick the new shell in you can cancel the reload and it will be ready to shoot, shaving a good second or so off the reload.

    13:30 in regards to the salute. I think it's more for the players like me, who right at the moment when they press Ready realize that they have forgotten something.
    That way you can press it one more time and equip the thing you actually want.
    Just like going from bug mission to bug mission and forgetting to change from Incendiary Breaker.

    You know what they could honestly do for team-play that would make recoiless actually enjoyable? Let your team-mate... pull the ammo off YOUR backpack for YOUR reload! It's literally right there, why do THEY need to wear the backpack just to assist you? Bonus points if you occasionally back-blast your team mate off a cliff, common risk/reward stuff. Running AC, I actually dislike when a team mate latches onto me, I know the impact radius well and will often run around and impulse-shoot bugs/bots like a shotgun if safe. Holding still is never a great survival tactic, and doesn't allow peeking over edges and around corners, great way to eat bot-rockets though.

    For the diligence counterstrike the reason why such a small damage buff makes it one tap devastators in the face now is because the weapon had damage dropoff at around 10-20 (like really close) that made it lose just enough of damage to not one tap them. Now you can consistently one tap with it and it feels great along the handling buff that makes it feel less like a truck. The weapon now allows you to be quite effective at range and closer granted that you can hit your shots, as missing weak points on devys makes it loose any effectiveness, and it's great. Thx arrowhead

    recoilless rifle reload is brutal but it now seems that you can actually animation cancel the last part of the reload. Watch the hud during the 2nd part of the reload, you can see the shot reload right after you chamber the rocket so you dont actually need to finish the closing part of the animation for the reload to go thru. Doesn't really do a whole lot for it but hey its something I guess (till they patch that out too lol)

    I feel like they should keep warbond weapons at the same level of power, but make all the warbonds unique. Cutting edge focused arc and energy weapons, democratic detonation went for explosions. That way we’ll get the diverse choice of guns without making one gun a no-brainer while the others suck ass. It’ll also make the choice of warbonds a question of what playstyle you like instead of „that shit’s in the meta, I’m buying it”

    I think the problem with Helldivers balance team is that they should approach weapons to make them very good at 1 thing and usable at everything else, instead of making them just good against a pair of things and then make it meh at everything else.
    And unironically this is pretty clear when the eruptor/scorcher is like one of the top weapons because it can basically kill everything effectively except rushing enemies, which is closer to what I said on the first and people love them to death and will defend them as "best weapon".
    But then you have things like the scythe that can not reliably kill small bots when it should literally kill then in half a second and is very bad at and slow at killing anything medium. (maybe after update it can though).
    The more enemies they create the more the weapons have to multitask, because if I can carry 2 weapons and 1 side arms I want 2 weapons to deal with 45% of the threats without issues, and the last weapon be utility after that the 10% of threat that are oncovered by them I will make it up with airstrikes/turrets/orbitals.
    So when a weapon can only kill trash mobs realiably or before they get to youh it feels like unusable garbage.
    They probably want people to ask other players to "cover their weaknesses" with their loadouts but that is NEVER fun to anybody and only creates the situation that people will get angry at you or you will be the one being forced to cover other players weaknesses and I don't like bossing around people to force them to carry a loadout that makes my loadout "viable".
    Also I think turrets actually need to have a huge health buff because they get too easily killed by any medium enemy, even if you want to protect them you can not protect them from missile going towards it from 100 meters away which is a very ridiculous expectations from the devs to be really honest. You could rock the generator relay turret but then you are using a turret and a generator just so it doesn't get demolished.
    Another way to mitigate this issue would be reducing the cooldown of every in game turret stratagem except the mortars so if they die it does not feels like a wasted slot.
