I believe Sidhe is pronounced "she" but I cannot remember where I read that. Edit: Could have been in an old Changeling: The Dreaming book.

@@AdventuresWithDice We're playing it together like a hexcrawl random generator thing. The reason why was so that even Dad could play as well. We use all the jigsaw-style tiles from Wrath of Ashardalon and Temple of Elemental Evil boxed set board games, Table Fables, Random Tables 1-4 by Matt Davids, and all the dice plus even some DCC weird dice. It's been a fun table thing and kinda a cool and sneaky way to get them interested. 🤓

@@AdventuresWithDice Might have to do that after I finish covering Chris' book in another few episodes. I'd also have figure out a cheap setup to shoot down onto the table too. I do not have a Webcam or anything to do that with. I'll have to do some thinking on how that might work, but sounds 😎

Are you running a specific module or creating your own Ravenloft campaign? How do you adjust the monsters stats and characteristics to the White Box system? I always like to know how other DMs do it. Great video!

@@AdventuresWithDice I actually started COC with the D20 version, so I'm hoping Eldritch Tales may help me get my group interested in that style of game again. They didn't like traditional d100 COC as much as I did.

I love the CoC d100 system. I also have at least 1 player that hates rolling d%. So I'm planning the same thing. All my players seem to like the WB system...so we'll see.

How is White Box better than Basic Fantasy?

I'm actually addressing this in a upcoming video.

    • @weirdguy564

The two games are nearly the same. It is hard to say one is better. BF has 4 races and 4 classes with the elf able to be a half and half fighter/wizard or thief/wizard. Attribute bonus will go to a +/-3, with modern ascending armor class (so no THAC0 or chart stuff). There are separate saving throws for different situations, with different ratios per class. Annoyingly the save throw chart is located in a different chapter than character creation. Level cap is 20.
White Box is attributes that only go to a +/-2 bonus, also has 4 races and 4 classes, with elf able to be a special class of half fighter and half wizard. It uses Descending armor class by default, but also have ascending armor class numbers if you prefer. There is only one savings throw number for everything, found right on character creation level up table. Level cap is between 8 to 12 based on which class you are, but level up bonuses are larger, resulting in a character that might be stronger than a BF equivalent level. Interestingly the weapon damages are barely different from each other, and there is only 3 levels of armor (light leather, medium chainmail, and heavy plate). The game in general only uses D20 for combat attacks, and D6's for most everything else.
So, yeah. Not much different. Get one. Get the other. They're both so similar that I don't see one that is clearly better. I like Basic Fantasy, only because I found it first and it has a lot of supplement material.

    • @BanjoSick

Isn‘t it just that Basic Fantasy is based on B/X and White Box is based on OD&D.
