I helped rescue a fawn by putting a tablecloth from a restaurant over its head. It ended up snuggling into me, especially after I started singing, quietly, to it. One of my BEST life moments, EVER! 🤗
I think you're starting to see why Carl's previous owner wanted him adopted out. Quite the dilemma! I love seeing Wanda taking a bath and totally enjoying it; for sure she finds water therapy beneficial.
I bet you that water is therapeutic to Wanda’s legs. Also, people with ponds have ducks, geese & other birds and species. Lester stepped it up and has ostriches 😂 ♥️♥️♥️

I am glad the ladies are together. This will help protect the other feather friends at night. You could put up the shade cloths in the trees for some protection as well!
They do molt like ducks. Do you remember the turkeys pulling their own feathers? They do that when they're scared so maybe that's why just a suggestion

IF they were truly in nature, they could run away from the aggressor and hide and/or join another flock, etc. Since they are fenced in, you are doing the right thing to try to assist with their needs and issues best you can.
Pablo says, "no worries dad, I'm security for the ladies. Yep, ostrich security reporting for duty!" LE you can do this, a little at a time & you will beat those fears. Wanda really seems to enjoy the pond. It's so neat to see her in there enjoying herself.

Ombudsman Pablo is on scene inspecting farm procedure and filing his safety report. Ombudsman Pablo has a big job, that’s why he’s always on scene when any work is being done at the sanctuary, he’s monitoring procedure. I love that duck…who is no ordinary duck!
I love how gentle you always are with the animals. You always do things with each animals best interests in mind. I couldn't help but chuckle when you were moving Wanda and Tina. Then a huge smile was on my face as Wanda took a dip in the pond. What an awesome day 😎
Before I retired as an Animal Control Officer for Multnomah County in Oregon we were trained how to catch and walk an ostrich and make it go where we wanted it to go. Stand behind her up against her butt putting you hands on the base of her wings. Now you need to go into A squatting position. Bend you knees then you can maneuver the ostrich towards the direction you want it to go into or towards .
Lester, there are at least five ostrich farms in Texas. Why don't you call one of them and ask them the questions that you need answers to. We know you want the best life for the ostriches so why not go to the source to get the answers that you actually need. These are all family-owned farms and I am sure they would be more than happy to speak to you and answer the questions that are so detrimental right now. I hope you reach out and speak to one of them so that you have the correct answers to the issues that are going on right now on the farm. Good luck!

I hope the kids don’t mess with the girls , which became a worry when Carl was allowed to be back by the pond and he got moved to insure the kids didn’t accidentally get hurt because of the natural curiosity of the kids!! I agree...he cares about the ostriches. I do think Lester should be more aggressive with Carl. Not hurt him or anything like that but I believe he should let Carl know who is in charge. They are allowing Carl to be in charge and it might be adding to his aggression. I'm not an expert on ostriches at all but I do wonder how would Carl react if they hissed back at Carl when he hissed at them? I don't want to see Carl hurt but I really don't want to see the humans hurt even more. It's kind of like Tex. Tex is big and strong but they still make him go where he belongs when he gets out.

I read that animals find the water very therapeutic when they have had trauma in the past. That’s probably why she enjoyed it. It was nice to see LE in the video. You need to put cameras out by the pond so you can watch them all the time and keep an eye out for safety as well as enjoyment. I LOVE Pablo. He is such a ladies man! He makes me smile every time. If I’m having a bad day I just come watch one of your videos because I know I will end up smiling at some point. I would absolutely love to own a sanctuary. My husband and I are both huge animals lovers and would truly enjoy caring for and giving the animals a for3ver home. We are always taking in a stray animal or fostering till e can find homes for them. And I’m not meaning dogs and cats. I’m talking pigs, goats, donkeys, etc. We just don’t have enough land to make it a forever home for a lot of animals but would love to have that someday. Ostriches like all birds do sometimes pluck their own feathers. It is thought to be due to stress and sometimes nutrient deficiencies that cause skin irritation. Wanda may be under stress and doing it to herself. Either way moving her for now is definitely the answer. I loved seeing her in the pond and when she plopped down in the water that was so sweet. Wanda also listened to you so good in the barn area. Pablo swimming with her was sweet.

They have low internet signal, so it would be difficult to have WiFi connectivity to those cameras. 🤷♀️
I've been asking for a live cam like zoos do so we all could check in on at least the pond area. Wish they would do that.
