To me it looks like it should have had been zoned less and mixed better. Like don't just plop high rises one right next to the other, just space them out, plop down lil gardens and shit, leave an odd traditional building down there. But i also like variety in general. But then i'm speaking as a random person who's not a Georgian, just looking from outside in, not having the history of the place be part of my life, just seeing how it turned out. The cities i grew up in, there's some (most) traditional bits, i'd throw a bloody fit if they razed them for a skyscraper. So i get you lot. I also think skyscrapers shouldn't be very tall, like maybe up to maybe 20 floors tops, but just super slender, so they don't just make a lot of shadow or occlusion around themselves, and have barely any usable space, just break up the skyline just that little bit. They can still be prestige signs for the businesses that occupy them. My fave skyscraper worldwide has to be the HVB Tower, but it could have been a little slimmer, would have been an improvement honestly.
@@SianaGearz No, I completely agree (as a Georgian). I don't mind the occasional "futuristic" skyscraper, so long as it's placed right and complements the old city. The way the city's laid out now, the taller buildings block the smaller ones, ruin views, and as the taxi driver said, ruin the climate, too. And don't even get me started on the hotels. They're propping up left and right with no concern as to what they're doing to the city. That's a bubble I expect to burst, especially if and when the influx of Russians post-Ukraine-war leave. They're the main reason the city's so crowded this year, and the new hotels that are built in response will be left empty and derelict.
Damn you guys. I last had one maybe 10+ years ago. Now i have to hunt down somewhere to get one or make one myself at home! The nearest eastern euro store nearby is Bulgarian, and it's quite a ways out of the way, odds of them stocking that aren't looking too great either, but i might just check. If there was a Polish one nearby, it would be full of Kvass. The nearest mainstream supermarket is actually run by a Bosnian guy i think, should chat him up, maybe he can get us some Ukrainian Kvass in here, he's been pretty proactive at getting in Ukrainian food brands this year, but that can be a little tough for companies which don't have a subsidiary within EU to certify the stuff.

I used to love Batumi and go there for vacation every year, but now with all this uncontrollable high rise building its becoming something very ugly and losing its charm, the taxi driver was right.
Kvass is literally the best drink on earth. Everyone should try it!
Any DCS player is probably aware of Batumi, but I never knew the level of pure drip the place had
DCS? There's a Batumi level?
The circus could be turned into a concert hall or convention center or live theater venue there is so much that could be done with that kind of building
Awesome Vlog Roman. Giorgi was such a great vlogging partner he brought some class to the video Roman. Lol 🍻😂🤣
Thank you my friend
@@greatdslayarr I'd love to see you do your own vlogs and if you do can you reply back with your channel name. I really thought you and Roman where a good match and I very much so enjoyed this vloge alot. Looking forward to more from you two guys..
@@BillyG21 Thank you once more! I usually live a pretty uneventful life in the UK, I happen to be on holiday and travelling at the moment, but I'm sure I can come up with something interesting to talk about from my university room 😁
@@greatdslayarr that would be awesome give it a try mate.
I never thought I would see such a beautiful fast food restaurant
If you want a "Soviet Dubai" you should definitely check out Baku. The old city has a persian vibe and architecture. The city has many skyscrapers including the iconic flame towers. If you take the metro outside of the touristy areas, it's mostly soviet commi blocks.
Who wants to be in another country run by a cruel dictator after leaving fascist ruzzia?
Thanks for posting
awesome city! never even heard of this place before
That McDonalds is dope. There is one near my house that was the location where the Big Mac was invented and there is a museum there. It's pretty amazing inside. A lot of history.
My man keeps putting my house in the thimbnail 🤣 i live in the soviet house on nutsubidze street the one with the bridge 🤣🤣
Give me a tour of your building bro
@@roman_nfkrz Yo, come to the Netherlands bro and I will give you a tour of the best coffeeshops xd
Batumi here is sending an Australian vibe: the vibe is that of Surfer's Paradise in Queensland.
I like how there’s so much interesting architecture that Roman just passes like 8 interesting buildings and art pieces and doesn’t even mention them
What a city batumi is young and vibrant like many of these countries we've been told are too dangerous to visit 🤗...mad building just before 14 minutes as for that Mackie's WOW and you can get misted up stairs in the garden 🧐🤗☺️.....great upload Roman....
We NEED Giorgi and Gigi together in one video. Make it happen.
Gigi is a good friend, so God willing you shall see it soon :)
@@greatdslayarr I thought at first sight when i saw you that gigi had grown a beard :)
Well done gentlemen ,that was a good one Very Very interesting indeed !
You should go to Bulgaria and see how the black sea is on that side :,)
It was fun getting to see Batumi again. I lived in the orbi building near the dancing fountain for 2 months last summer. I paid 500 usd a month and lived like a king lol. I remember how dope the McDonald's looked there too.
Roman, you should visit San Diego, California. You would love it. Also being right on the ocean the temperature is usually cool. It's a beautiful place and big time party town.
As someone from the City of San Diego, I agree! After all, we are quite a scenic city, which probably explains why its nickname is "America's Finest City"! Thanks for the suggestion!
@@Hand-in-Shot_Productions Roman wouldn't make it out of the Gaslamp district on a Saturday night. It is indeed beautiful, set right on San Diego Bay. Palm trees, historical buildings, great food, and every kind of club and bar. It's like Disneyland for adults. Hundreds of people on the streets in the evenings.
⁶I've lived here since 1985. Great city.
I only ever hear bad things about California. How come? Is San Diego different?
@@Roderik95 California is a great place to live. There's a lot more good than bad.
Don't listen to stories, just visit the California coast for the most beautiful scenery in the US. You'll never forget the giant Redwoods.
Most people that don't like California are referring to what they think are California politics, they've never been here, they think we're all liberals, and they're all wrong.
@@markmitchell457 Thanks for the late, but still very welcome reply. If I ever visit the US it is now on my list.
Batumi looks beautiful and the McDonalds is amazing - love this video
"Soviet Dubai" is already a upgrade over "Dubai".
For example, it has a working canalisation. And places for the workers to live.
Watched your channel with Mr. Bald.
In my point of view, you guys have something in common.
"Why"? "why..?" is the most fundamental question we humans try so hard to get an answer.
But on the other hand, we have to be diligent and get over the dark side of our human history.
We can not dwell in the past.
Bald Channel, been a fan of since Benjamin launched his channel.
But now watched almost of your old episodes, you're my next favorite channel
who really talks about world harmony and peace or justice may I say..
Keep yourself strong and tell us your frank opinion whenever injustice takes place around you.
Roman, bless you man~
Next Episode: Roman moves to Batumi
That MacDonald's was amazing! Actually, the whole town was amazing. Thank you!
I used to love Batumi and go there for vacation every year, but now with all this uncontrollable high rise building its becoming something very ugly and losing its charm, the taxi driver was right. "New Boulevard" Batumi is awful. Also you should have checked out that huge building in front of McD, it's called Magnolia and its like Kowloon city :D also it has a weird ballerina statue in the yard and some interesting facades.
A common phenomenon in tourist towns like Acapulco, where high rise hotels line the coast prohibiting any view of the ocean. It's a dead tourist town now.
WOW that garden is AMAZING! It looks like a mini - louvre that Mc Donald's! It beats the one in Brooklyn with the piano and the waterfall! Well, they have servers in Brooklyn...
Well, most of us Georgians are not loving how they've ruined Batumi. It is just pure chaos now.
Do you want the entire country to look the same? Batumi is trying to innovate, and with innovation, there can sometimes be setbacks.
@@Baqsam Yes and no. With proper city planning and zoning, Batumi could've looked amazing. That goes double if they'd taken care of the old parts of the city instead of only focusing on building the new. As it is now, it really is thoughtless and chaotic.
@@verified_tinker1818 Maybe you can consider it a work in progress. Once they're done making all these fancy buildings, they can renovate the old ones. The Roman Empire wasn't built in one day...
I just finished my trip in Georgia and stayed in Batumi for a while. Ws really hoping to meet you and seeing you walk the beaches that i just walked is crazy
I think people should stop compering Georgia to other continents or countries or nations, we are not like full Asia nor Full Europe, we are not slavs either nor it looks like Dubai, no, we are different, unique and thats why people enjoy coming here
Georgia is a mix of everything.
