Cornbread sportin' the orange! Smokin'! That's my favorite color!
The 1980's Celtics raised the bar and along with the Lakers, saved the league with a superior work ethic and unbelievable expertise, and are memorable for all time. It was truly a Hall of Fame era and they were the cream of the crop. There's much to be said for busting your ass all of the time versus your contemporaries. Larry Legend was determined to improve every year and you cannot have a better goal than that. That attitude of example and sacrifice is contagious, and as such, so became the winning. They were so good, they would go into your house and hand your ass to you in short order, three quarters, lead by 20-30 then bring in the Green Team, game over. That was the formula and it was amazingly efficient. That's why they're my favorite, too.
"I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it." - Thomas Jefferson
The key was to find the fine line between working so hard, you make hustling fundamental clinics the norm, yet not injuring yourself to continue the process. It's one thing to put your body on the line during the contests, but it's the most counterproductive to hurt yourself in practice. That way the playing level is so high and consistent, winning becomes the habit, and is too tough to beat day after day. What a great time for sport and excellence!

    Good God Cedric! Lookin' good!
Talking about the doping in baseball back then and because of all that crap, still has Hank Aaron as the home run king for the simple fact that he was just AWESOME and recorded all his stats without any damn "enhancements!"
I'd been a Celtics fan from right as Larry's rookie year until the end because as a 7-yr old kid, I saw that SI with the two cheerleaders on it and then due to the fact that I was born and raised in FL, we never caught any of his ISU games even in the radio. But I also missed the '79 NCAA Finals game where he went up against Magic a'course and even though Larry sparked my interest in the game, it would've been great if I'd had known about it. It is nice that we can watch it now but sadly, it isn't quite the same. But! I was already a rabid Red Sox fan thanks to my Dad and so when I discovered this kid Bird had been drafted to Boston, the excitement was like something I had never known, despite being so young at the time (9 yrs old).
So, to this day, I appreciate now more than ever that I was able to watch y'all play Cedric and it was incredible!
Hope you and everyone from the team are well, and wish you all Happy Holidays and Happy New for 2023. And the next time you or Shaun see Larry, please tell him that I love him, that I hope he's well too and that there is a comment here by his self-proclaimed #1 fan! ME!
    😀👍❤️💘💋💋💋
    Rock on,
