Love the idea of doing that on the pier! Heading there tomorrow thru Sunday and you have inspired me to do this on this trip! If you are sown there and see someone doing ceviche in a silver suv mecedes, stop by! Thanks for the awesome videos and tips you give out!
Sharp video Josh. Who cares if it took two days to film, that's fishing. This is a true catch and eat! I like the gull over Chris' left shoulder when you were eating on the pier. Take Care and God Bless ✝
Well the fish were there but they kept taking your rig ! Go down to Walmart to the craft section over by the beads , they have what they call beading wire , it’s real thin multi strand stainless steel coated wire , it’s like a couple of bucks , it’s flexible you can tie it in a knot , this stuff is tough as nails , and a foot of it tied to your hook will keep the toothy critters from taking your rig , you can use more if your around the pilings , I tried to test it for tensile strength with a suit case scale and it maxed it out , give it a try , it could be a secret weapon ( well I guess it’s not a secret anymore😄 ) 👍🏼. Tight lines bro ! 🎣
Well Chris saved the day ! With the snapper ! Hey try that wire thing I commented on , it does have a draw back 🤔. You don’t lose fish ! Even the pier monsters , oh and flipper might spoil ya ! Just hang on ! 👍🏼🤣
@@Saltyscales thank you! It would be so helpful! From bridges, boats, size for which bait etc. Can’t wait for the next video. Do you go live? If so I would like notifications.
Recommendations on setup/where to purchase grouper rig? I've got 30 years experience fishing grassflats with light tackle, but want to start making more regular trips to the skyway. Don't own anything bigger than a Penn Battle 5000 on a MH Redbone.
I’m not sure if you’ll see this, but i was the one who asked you if you were the youtuber in Day 1 of this video in that white ford edge. that night i got a 7 foot nurse shark. Would love to join up and go fishing with ya one day! Love the videos !
Nice will definitely try this out! Capt Josh do you have any tips on how to keep the bait swim down? Most of the time the bait just floats on top of the water? Thanks!
I usually catch nice pinfish right at the entrance part hooked 2 Groupers 1 rocked me 1 came home lol last week too. It's be nice to catch you out there get some pointers and some tight lines 👌🏽
I thought Victor's food might of been a little hyped up... but if it inspired you to make a video saying Ceviche 200 times and eat a red tide mangrove snapper with fishing hands in Tupperware on the side of the pier I have got to try Victor's food 😂😂
There is a huge black dolphin there that loves stealing my pinfish when I grouper fish. It has a chunk missing out of its dorsal fin and has given me the stink eye for snatching fish out of his reach. They are bad there.
I look at it like this, if it came from the earth it goes back to the earth. It is probably a lot worse than dumping 200 million gallons of nitrates in the bay. 👍
Josh, can you please educate me on the use of J hooks for grouper and snapper? I was under the impression circle hooks were mandatory with natural bait.
You use j hooks because you have to immediately set the hook on grouper if you use a circle hook you would have to give time for the grouper to swallow the bait and by the time you reel in they are already swam deep in the rocks or pilings
Brandon, I'm referring to the FWC regulations on grouper and snapper. FWC mandates non-offset, non-stainless circle hooks when using natural bait to target reef fish such as grouper and snapper. I'm trying to find out if I have a misunderstanding of the FWC regulations. I was hoping that Josh has a better understanding, being a Captain and all. I'm truly looking to understand the regulations.
@@Saltyscales Thank you so much for the reply. Now I understand it. You're the first RUclips channel to answer this question for me. I really appreciate it. Looking forward to future content.

Every time I watch your videos at the skyway I end up going over there fishing. Thanks for all the tips, I really have learned a lot from you.
Glad to help Joshua, good luck out there.

Those gooper are on something else with this red tide 😂💪🏻
They are interesting, you up for a collaboration JC?
@@Saltyscales heck yeah Josh! Just sent you a message on Instagram
Tagged a fish, and ate some good fish! Success day. The pier was testing us though 😂

Awesome stuff. That looked real delicious!🐟🎣😃
Hey josh was wondering if you had a wind blocker for your camera
I do on the big camera, they make the GoPros overheat so I do not wear them on the action cameras.
@@Saltyscales ohhhhh that’s smart me and my cousin are starting soon so we just got a hero8
Its not every day you see the fish win out against Josh and chris! Nice video fellas.
They beat us, no doubt.
Can you show how to chum and use the cast net? What size net and brand? Great video thank you!
Yes, we will do something soon. Thanks for watching!

Watching me get beat lol
is the red tide not bad anymore? i was there a month ago and everything was dead.
It's still bad, just spotty
@@Saltyscales sad to hear but looked like the bite was back on the skyway

I’ve caught plenty of keeper groupers on a 5000 at the skyway. Definitely not ideal but it’s doable.

Nice will definitely try this out! Capt Josh do you have any tips on how to keep the bait swim down? Most of the time the bait just floats on top of the water? Thanks!
The trick is to let out line at the right speed so that there is enough slack to swim down but also feel the bait.
I am definitely going to try that next time I go fishing
Definitely do. 👍
It's too hot to be that frustrated! See you in the Fall.

They are a nuisance and it has gotten out of control but what can you do.
Nice video man, where do you check the tide times at ?
I have an app called Nautide
@@Saltyscales I’ll check that out thank you

It's absolutely Chris's fault lmao
Nice ceviche !! Need to bring out the recipe
Yes sir, thanks for the comment Pablo.
Man this is what life is all about.
Is it ok to keep a fish even though red tide is happening and did u let the cast net drop all the way down the water
White bait was in heavy then gone like crazy like 1 day full net next day not even 1
Yea, they have been weird with this red tide.
I went out today with 2 rods with pinfish and dolphins keep ripping them off the hook
Are you fishing on the north side,
What about parasites? Does the citric acid kill them?
If your watching, your a legend!
LEGEND 💯
I've had all types of ceviche but hands down the best ceviche you'll have is Peruvian ceviche.
Tides always 2-3 hrs late at the skyway
Enjoyed the video just didn't know that the saltwater life liked lemon and lime.

Bro that’s illegal on a pier
Nothing is illegal about that on the pier lol. Get those facts straight smh
Practice how not to get broken off
If you aren't getting broken off then you're not catching. Experienced fisherman know this. 👍
