I had two lipomas removed on my lower back that were all the way down on my bone. The first one, done a few months ago, was only sealed with a couple stitches (he didn’t expect the incision to be so deep). The last one I had done 2 weeks ago, and it was 9 dissolvable stitches and then this glue at the surface! In the two weeks that incision has nearly healed as much as the 6 months, and is much thinner and neater!
In 2015 I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy and my dr glued me up. It was weird but it healed up better than any stitches I have ever had. You can’t see the scars at all anymore.
My dad gives me loads of this stuff from the hospital. I’ve used it many times cutting a finger and lemme tell ya this stuff is strong! It also allows your skin to heal quicker. Nice vid good stuff.
Dude they used something similar on me after a tumor removal in 2007 and I was so stunned when I walked into the bathroom after cuz I fully expected cotton bandages and you could see EVERYTHING through the clear glue. I had to leave it on until it came off on its own and the dried blood that caked under it made me really self conscious as a 12-almost-13 year old but it sure was successful! It was so I interesting to watch this clip and think about the behind the scenes!

It’s just crazy glue in a fancy pen for quick access, instead of a screw off top. I only know because of an injury I had a while ago, doctor pulled out regular crazy glue when the fancy pen ran out. Told me it’s the exact same thing. It’s pretty amazing stuff I always keep some crazy glue with me when I go backpacking, rock climbing, or mountain biking.
well the medical grade stuff has a smaller likelyhood for skin irritation. but yeah regular super glue, apperentls worked fine for gunshot wounds in vietnam, works well enough for small gaping cuts on my fingers ^^D

I used to have a deep 6cm cut in the palm of my hand that wouldnt close and i just superglued it shut after sterilizing it, healed properly no further complications 😊
Super glue are fine on shallow wounds. Deep wound with profuse bleeding need proper medical attention. You could risk clotting your blood vessels leading to permanently paralyzing your limbs if the circumstances are right
This would have been great for me, when I had surgery on my stomach, (appendicitis) I got my stitches removed too early and the wound completly opened up, and the doctor literally said, it's fine just keep it extra clean and you'd be fine. I had an open surgical wound for weeks and now I have a huge scar... With light pressure it wound close so this stuff would have been so helpful. And yes, I told the doctor that I thought it was too early to remove the stitches and she told me it wasn't. When it started opening I asked her what we could do, she said nothing. I asked if we could do more stitches or even staples (I know some people have done that before) but no. And yes, I saw another doctor in the area and the same thing was told to me... Sad but I guess I have to live with it now. (lol, sorry for the mini rant 😅) To whoever reads this far. I hope you have a good day. 😁🌸
This reminded me of the doctor who glued my foot shut instead of stitching it when he saw I was afraid of the suture kit the nurse got out when I was 6 or 7 years old. He’s a real one.
I have used super glue for years. Even on a wide 1” deep stab in my hand. Also great at protecting it against stuff like salt and hot water and allows more use while healing.

@@jojak8066nit very badly. I can assure you that if you actually injure yourself and damage anything important, you have to go to the hospital, as things have to get reconnected. I had to have my arm reconnected, super glue wouldn't even have held it on..
A couple years ago I cut my finger pretty bad. I'm pretty sure I needed stitches but somehow I decided to super glue it. First I had to take care of some of the bleeding so I put a rag on it until the bleeding stopped. After I disinfected the cut I applied Crazy Glue. I don't know if it was a good idea or not but it worked.. after 8 Days some of the super glue started coming off but by then the cut was already scabbing.
Thirty years ago I was working my first job right out of high school. I was a gopher for a construction company. One day I was breaking open large bundles of lumber. As I broke one of the steel bands I accidentally gashed my thumb. After I got the bleeding to stop, I asked my coworker if I should go get stitches. He told me not to worry he would fix me up. He then reached into his tool belt and pulled out a bottle of super glue. He put a few drops on the wound and squeezed it together. After holding it closed for 30 seconds he went and got me a bandaid. Two minutes later I was getting yelled at to get back to work.
I've had an allergic reaction to adhesive which was applied under bandage strips. It blistered the skin. I get rashes from ordinary bandages. Would I likely have the same problem with this sort of adhesive?
I had this used on me after a hystorectomy. I don't have any allergies to adhesive. Two days after my surgery I had hives from my shin to my chin...you won't know until you make contact. Managing the allergic reaction was twice as hard as recovering from the surgery itself. Maybe ask if they can do a patch test before it's needed just incase 🤷🏼♀️
You should never put Dermabond on an open laceration that size....best thing to use for this would be steri strips 1/8 and some Mastisol to help hold it down.
I am assuming if that's a true story he used Gorilla brand super glue, not actual foaming polyurethane glue that's their main product right? That foaming stuff is terrible, it's a skin sensitizer, and it doesn't seem to hold that well. I'm not really even sure what it's for.
Had a reoccurring open wound on the coccyx with a bed bound incontinence patient. This adhesive held up pretty well as long as there was a moisture barrier. Exposure to excessive moisture for 2 hours at a time will break it down faster. Using dry clean rolled gauze in that area seemed to help as well. You don't want to oversaturate the area you are working on with this pen, it will flake around the edges. Great solution for wound care. I was informed that it may sting when applying to an open wound.
Early 2021 had my gallbladder removed (laparoscopic) and then late 2021 had a c-section. Both times only glue was used to close incisions. Super awesome!
my sister had an injury on her eyebrows also... the only yhing the doc said was not to play with it. the one they used had cocaine at the time and it could have showed up in her system. but this was like way over 25 years ago
For testing, you can do what a former dentist of mine would do. When waiting for impression material to set, he would use some of the excess and make a blob on the back of his glove. When that blob was ready, he knew the stuff in my mouth had set up.

When my nipple ring got ripped out, it was the middle of the night. I didn’t know what to do and I wasn’t able to drive myself to emergency so my initial instinct was to just pinch the wound together and apply superglue. Once the bleeding stopped, I called our nurses hotline to tell them what happened and explained what I did. They basically told me to not even go to emergency as long as the bleeding was stopped, because no doctor with stitch a nipple clothes. They would’ve also just applied an adhesive as well.
I had the same surgery on both my knees at different times. The First one uses this glue technique and the other uses staples. The glue makes the scar less noticeable and looks much better than the scar with the staple. So I always tell people that if you have a choice, ask for glue that stables or stitches.
My body always (multiple major surgeries) rejects stitches as a foreign body and I end up with a yucky mess. This stuff would have been a lifesaver on at least replacing the external stitches! Also would be great in our hiking packs along with steri strips we carry!
Tip for you. Ask surgeon or doc about using your hair if it’s long as the suture. It won’t be identified as a foreign body and is fairly strong. It is done in medical settings as needed.
Dermabond!!! We use this in the OR for some small surgical sites.(I'm a surgical tech). Thankfully the patients are still sleep on that part, bc it BURNS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 while it's drying
I’m constantly hurting myself at work, would this be good for a quick patch if I have a bad cut? I usually just use some blue roll and electrical tape. I can handle pain I just want to quickly stop the blood before I pass out 😂
Depends on how deep and how and how much you're bleeding. You definitely want to stop the bleeding before applying, bc it doesn't stop bleeding. Apply pressure to stop bleeding, CLEAN AND DISINFECT (cant stress that enough), then hold the cut together to apply the dermabond til dry.
I just had this used on a 4inch incision closure..it worked well. No infection but very hard to scrub the glue off after not being able to touch it for 2 weeks. Only gently clean. Leaves black glue stains

We were on vacation and the paramedics said that the er was a long line and would be an all day wait, so we asked if going to Walgreens and getting some of the glue would work and they said yeah. It happened in February, was a pretty drastic cut considering we had to call an ambulance and it’s healed up extremely well. This stuff is very nice for emergency’s!
This was used on me when i had my open heart surgery. After they stitched me up internally, to prevent stitch marks on the outside, they used the glue to close up the wound 👍
When I was like 5 or something on christmas eve I stood on the rocking chair and fell onto the footstool and hurt my head and in the ER they used glue like this to fix it, don’t really remember most of this anymore but glad I didn’t get stitches instead
Works great for some applications, I have seen it leave a wider scar than what fine stitches would have been expected to leave, particularly on facial applications.
This has changed so much since I needed skin glue as a teenager. I was in a dirt bike accident and my bf at the time ran us into a barbed wire fence....the really long barbs...about an inch long and luckily the front tire hit the post and flung us sideways which threw us between the wires....we'll my back got TORN to shreds. I had over 300+ stitches and they used glue on some of my smaller wounds and it used to be a single squishy small tube with a greenish color glue that didn't have to be mixed together with anything. The tube reminded me of a really tiny Squeeze-It. The glue looks really cool now! The old glue used to get more and more green as the days passed and looked like a booger was holding you together hahaha.
I had a spine surgery (Vertebral body tethering) and they used that glue to close the 5 incisions and the scars are healing pretty well, mainly just the purple outline that makes them visible
In case anyone is curious, you can’t buy derma-bond unless you are a medical professional however, vet-bond can be gotten off Amazon and is pretty much identical
My son got that 17 years a go, right on his forehead. I stopped the bleeding in seconds with white vinegar and run to the hospital. As soon the nurse clean it up and removed the vinegar he started bleeding again.( It stings a little bit, but alcohol its way worst and will not stop the bleeding. ) it was very helpful, I didn't believe it . White vinegar will help to stopped the bleeding so you have time to go and get attention.
I've closed quite a few deep cuts successfully using super glue. It also has antimicrobial properties, so a natural antibiotic. Doctors used it on my husband, who had very thin skin that would not hold normal stitches.
This skin glue is brilliant. It's a type of non-irritant super glue. It's great for finger cuts when woodworking etc. Also brilliant for heel cracks. Dampen the skin first to help it set.
Just had this stuff used on my finger the other week after slicing it with a straight razor working. The wound healed up great and extremely fast actually. Can hardly see a scar
That is really cool!! In Indonesia, we chew cassava leaves and applied it to wound, the bleeding will stop. Then wait a few minutes for the cut to stick together. Not for big severe wound though. Works well for knife cut, for example. I cut my finger about 1 cm long, I was afraid to tell my mom, so do that myself. I was about 9 or 10 yo😅
It works quite well, honestly! I was working at a dressage horse stable for shit money, but I loved spending time with the animals. The owner had built a shoddy ramp so that I could load about 90+lbs of manure into the spreader via wheelbarrow. Well, one rainy morning, the rafters had dripped water all over the ramp and as I was going up, my foot slid out from under me. My nose was split down both sides, blood everywhere, and no one was in the barn with me so I requested an ambulance myself. I felt bad calling over something so minor and apologized, but the EMTs assured me people call for less. Turns out I had a concussion and my nose was broken. They ended up gluing both wounds and then tried to schedule me an appointment to get my nose fixed. Well, according to the specialist I saw TWO WEEKS after it happened, his secretary misinformed him and that's why my appointment wasn't earlier. I had been told there was no sooner appointment, so I still have a crooked nose to this day. Suppose I could have taken legal action, but It is what it is. 😂🤷🏻

Yeah had to get a hernia repair done last year. Had 8 wound sites. All repaired the same way. Cant even see 7 of them anymore. Amazing stuff.
Lipomas?

My first cesarean was sealed like this. Healed much better than my sister's who had traditional stitches.
In 2015 I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy and my dr glued me up. It was weird but it healed up better than any stitches I have ever had. You can’t see the scars at all anymore.

I had spinal fusion surgery and the surgeon used super glue (skin glue)to keep incision closed. It worked great!
May I ask, do you have AS.?
For my spinal fusion I got dissolvable sutures. I was fused from t3-L1 though and had a drain that was in my back for ~2 days
I got metal staples after my spinal surgery.

My fiancée was a CNA in the OR when we were still just dating, she gave me a couple tubes of this because I kept nicking my hands/arms working construction. Dermabond works like a charm
And its 100 bucks instead of 80 cents 😂Thanks Moderna, very cool. They can f off.
Always a tube on my first aid kit.
well the medical grade stuff has a smaller likelyhood for skin irritation. but yeah regular super glue, apperentls worked fine for gunshot wounds in vietnam, works well enough for small gaping cuts on my fingers ^^D

Almost every surgery I got, used with this glue. It was always pretty amazing and the scars looking much cleaner
I had this stuff used when I had an appendectomy a while back, and it was fantastic. By far the most comfortable, unobtrusive skin adhearing method I have seen.
Yes, it is nice not having to go back after a week to get the stitches out
I used to have a deep 6cm cut in the palm of my hand that wouldnt close and i just superglued it shut after sterilizing it, healed properly no further complications 😊
wasn’t that the original purpose of super glue?
Super glue are fine on shallow wounds. Deep wound with profuse bleeding need proper medical attention. You could risk clotting your blood vessels leading to permanently paralyzing your limbs if the circumstances are right
Doctor Yeehaw, Did you sterilize it with moonshine?
(lol, sorry for the mini rant 😅)

Ugh I’m so sorry you had this experience 😕 (also wishing you a good day as well 🌺
It's sad what's happened to the medical community.
😂😂😂😂😂 I use crazy glue aswell and bandaid glue on top works wond wonders in an emergency

This is called Dermabond, I work in surgery, it’s one of my favorite items we use in the OR. I always have some at home for quick fixes on cuts. But forewarning it burns like a mother when it’s curing but that only last for a few seconds.
Have u experimented it with local anesthetic?
@@11pmmelodies no I haven’t, it would likely be much milder but it’s not like it’s an unbearable pain when it’s curing. It just stings for several seconds. But not enough to numb the area first
Used this technique on my finger last week using regular super glue, its worked great! The pain went away very quickly and its healing very fast
props to this patient for letting you film i hope they get a good deal or free treatment since you are kinda using them for content.
I can't believe they actually have a real skin for testing
That's a amazing
I'm assuming it's pig skin, apparently it's very similar to human skin for this sort of training.
I was wondering why their fake skin looked so realistic 😅 it's cool to test on a ragged wound too, much more likely to encounter in a real life situation

Crazy glue works great too cut my hand open and drove my self to the hospital but it did sting. Also works great for clipping animal nails ie dogs etc. Should always keep crazy glue in the house and in an emergency kit for this type of repair

I had this used for the 4 incision on my gallbladder removal. Unfortunately one of the incisions was being difficult. It opened under the stitch glue. There was discharge that was impacting so I took it off and made my own makeshift stitch with tape and called it a day. They are healed up and are just fine.
My uncle used super glue to glue my finger back together after I slammed it in a truck door because I refused to go to the hospital on my birthday. Love that man. No pain, just super glue, a cardboard stilt and my body healed itself
How badly was it injured?
@@jojak8066nit very badly. I can assure you that if you actually injure yourself and damage anything important, you have to go to the hospital, as things have to get reconnected. I had to have my arm reconnected, super glue wouldn't even have held it on..
Um....
A couple years ago I cut my finger pretty bad. I'm pretty sure I needed stitches but somehow I decided to super glue it. First I had to take care of some of the bleeding so I put a rag on it until the bleeding stopped. After I disinfected the cut I applied Crazy Glue. I don't know if it was a good idea or not but it worked.. after 8 Days some of the super glue started coming off but by then the cut was already scabbing.
eh no pain?.. mine hurt like hell, it felt like the wound was burning.... 😵💫
Oilfield guy here💁🏽 they say don’t use real super glue, well I have plenty time for stuff like this. WORKS GREAT!
I've had glue used on me twice. It was amazing. Healed quickly with little to no scarring
I'm allergic to most normal plaster adhesives and had this after keyhole surgery, no problems at all
I had this used on me after a hystorectomy.
Always check. This stuff was a no go for me.
I had the same reaction. It was SO itchy. Then it blistered and peeled. 🤦🏽♀️
Have you ever glued your fingers with super glue? This is basically the same thing.
Isn't this pretty much the same as Super Glue?
I've used SG to close paper cuts on my fingers. Stops the pain and works like a charm to close the cut!
I've used ordinary instant super glue on several occasions on wounds that required stitching. Worked perfectly.
This is effectively the same stuff. Cyanoacrylate. Just make sure the would is cleaned very well.
@@DaveScottADVYeah, same stuff but most likely different quality/purity as the super glue is not intended to be used in a clinical setting.
You should never put Dermabond on an open laceration that size....best thing to use for this would be steri strips 1/8 and some Mastisol to help hold it down.
I cut my hand bad the other day. My son works in the ER at local hospital. He used Gorilla Glue. It's been 1 week, all sealed up! ❤❤
I am assuming if that's a true story he used Gorilla brand super glue, not actual foaming polyurethane glue that's their main product right? That foaming stuff is terrible, it's a skin sensitizer, and it doesn't seem to hold that well. I'm not really even sure what it's for.
@@EternityForestIt’s mainly used to seal up holes or cracks in different surfaces
I have an eyebrow in place thanks to this stuff, how neat to see it being used!
my sister had an injury on her eyebrows also... the only yhing the doc said was not to play with it. the one they used had cocaine at the time and it could have showed up in her system. but this was like way over 25 years ago

This is my biggest fear and why I haven’t gotten mine done yet. How did it heal?

As a locomotive mechanic, I approve this super glue repair.
I just had this used on a 4inch incision closure..it worked well. No infection but very hard to scrub the glue off after not being able to touch it for 2 weeks. Only gently clean. Leaves black glue stains

My dad ran into a glass door in Vegas and his forehead split open.
I had this done once, it stings a little but it’s cool af how quick it fixes a cut
I prefer this method over stitches. Leaves way less of a scar. Heals wonderfully. Some surgeons will batch you when you with their needle work😩
I had a spine surgery (Vertebral body tethering) and they used that glue to close the 5 incisions and the scars are healing pretty well, mainly just the purple outline that makes them visible
In case anyone is curious, you can’t buy derma-bond unless you are a medical professional however, vet-bond can be gotten off Amazon and is pretty much identical
Best stuff I used it on my self and it works great no hospital visits

Need this on the job seriously
This has been used on my skin before. And with Great EASY Seal on both sides, with no Reaction to the skin adhesive.
