Where to start! This video took an army to raise!
I first heard this arrangment of Africa for 4 guitars at the Shearer Summer Institute in Zion National Park. I was blown away! It’s truly an incredible arrangement. Capturing Toto’s famous song with only 4 guitars is no easy feat.
This version was arranged by my good friend and incredible musician and educator, Dr. Alan Hirsh. He is continually writing and arranging for guitar, and if you’re looking for guitar ensemble music of any nature, I encourage you to check out his website and contact him: www.guitarense....

Ron Hankison helped shoot and edit the video. The extra editing he did to bring down the ceiling, erase the plugs…(something like that) is so beyond me and extremely impressive. He’s a fabulous friend and amazing artist.
Tony Carrola…my bro and right hand man! Helped plan the shots and pull the whole thing off. Not to mention the hours he spent coloring and editing. (He says I made his job harder by starting the process…LIKE WHAT.) Couldn’t do it without your artistic sense and constant insults. You’re a spawn of the devil, bro.
Big thanks to Tom Haas for getting us the recital hall to shoot in! And big thanks to the police officer who actually busted us in when my card stopped working. (There’s some doubt on the fact if it ever worked, though.)
Lastly, thanks to Kremona guitars for outfitting me with fantastic instruments! All of the guitars are different. The one on the far right is a seven string guitar! WHAAAAA…yup, it added to that extra bass line. Kids, it’s amazing what a low B can do for the mojo of the shoot. It’s important to note that I don’t name my guitars…Tony does. He’s to blame completely for the outrageous and obnoxious names. Also, colored shoelaces are a thing…I’m obsessed.

Sounds great but the thing I really like about Toto’s version is the vocal harmonies. Nonetheless, a great rendition!
The music is wonderful and the musicians are highly skilled, but the camera work is soooooooo annoying!!! You can’t focus on anything because they change the perspective every second!! I hate it!!

The talent of the guitarists is awesome but they need to fire the video editor! Who can possibly think that a 1\2 second montage could be fun to watch? It switches so fast you don't have time to focus before it switches to another view.. Annoying.
This is the same person on 4 tracks. Still amazing, but very deceiving to the eyes. Great job though.

Love the performance...but the video was over edited, the artistry is in their performance and the editing took away from it.
