    - 1 liter water (divided into 3/4 liter and 1/4 liter)

    - 2 tbsp sugar
    - 1 cup cornstarch
    - 1 pinch of cream of tarter
    - 1 tbsp sugar
    - Powdered sugar for dusting
    - Cornflour for dusting
    NOTE: I forgot to say on the video - 1 tbsp sugar - 1 pinch of cream of tarter ALL IN the Bowl 1 cup cornstarch - all in the orange cordial at one go.

    "Delight" is the perfect word in your title! Delightful little jelly-like almost candied treats with a refreshing citrus flavor and color! Perfect in a crystal dish during Christmas. A beautiful bright orange and soft white powdered sugar and coconut! Like snow dusted oranges. Brilliant mix up in the original recipe, Rik. I think you are on to something! Blessings. Hey Rik, have you ever uploaded one for Irish Coffee??? If so, I will search it out. I tried it once and it was a big flop.

    Excellent video thank you. I have made Turkish delight / Hokum many times and the making is ok to do the problem comes with storage as it likes to weep. I have spent a lot of time trying to find out why factory Hokum doesn't weep yet home made invariably does. As far as I can find out the Hokum is kiln/ oven dried further after cutting to loose more water. Happy to hear any further solutions to this problem. Thank you for your video and great idea of using cordial, I had not thought of that!

      Thanks for sharing. I too have had problems with the weeping over the years. Are commercial brands pumped with gelatin to hold it firm? Best, Rik

      Rio some are but the genuine ones are not I think they are just dried out in the oven until the moisture content is lowered. We shall have to give it a go! Ray.@@BackyardChef

    I don't think I'll be able to find orange cordial but hope hand-squeezed orange juice will do. I've always loved Turkish Delight, but I agree, the pink/rose flavor is not wonderful.

    If cordial syrup is too expensive in the USA or other places; can frozen orange concentrate work by adding some sugar?

    • @BackyardChef

      Hi Julie, I picked it up generally in a supermarket - you can use any double-strength cordial or any flavour for the same results. There is a complete description; you have to scroll down; however, there is 1 heaped cup. Best, Rik

    Is your cordial like the squash we have in the UK? It looked really thick, would love to try a different flavour if our squash is the same

    • @BackyardChef
      @BackyardChef  8 месяцев назад +3

      Jamie, the cordial is quite thick here. You would call it double concentrate - There is a multitude of flavours in the UK that can be adapted. Normal squash works just as well - just do not water it down too much. In other words, you could use more squash and less water. Best, Rik
