Trekking in Kyrgyzstan is an amazingly beautiful experience. In the start of my 8-day trek out of Karakol, we pass through the Almalu Valley and summit four passes in three days!
We see nomads on horses, pass by yurts, goats on the trail, and some beautiful snow-covered mountains.
This trek goes through Kyrgyzstan's Tian Shan Mountains and passes by the famous Ala Kul lake. In days 1-4, we make our way there passing several valleys with horses, goats, and sheep.

So so so beautiful.
Great video may I know when you went hiking? Is there yurt camp during your visit in the trail or we have to bring our tent?
SO LOVED THIS :D makes me wanna pack my bags and hit the road :)
Glad you liked it!
thanks for amazing videos !! Hope to see u again in Kyrgyzstan
Thaaat's amazing! I'm going there next month, September =) I'm excited.
So amazing! Thanks for sharing:-)
Gorgeous! The going is tough especially at that altitude but the nature is so beautiful. It rejuvenating. You are such an avid traveller , so let me suggest to you few more similar such treks some of which I have done.
Upper reaches of Kashmir are beautiful and you have numerous lakes, grazing grounds and pine forests. But not recommended as of now due to the present situation.
Ladakh. It's the Leh region. The area is more rugged but the lower reaches have greenery. You have numerous lakes and rivulets . The scenic beauty is amazing even when devoid of much flora. It's peaceful & doable.
Sikkim. Gorgeous and so similar to what you have shown. It's peaceful but you need to seek permission ahead of cities & towns as civilians are not allowed in the remote areas but the local Sikkimese yak herders are allowed. And these herders with their yaks and makeshift tents present such a beautiful sight. And if you want to see wild horses and beautiful lakes some of which remain frozen throughout the year then this is a must. You can see the majestic view of Mount Kanchenjunga the third highest peak of the world (8568m) from a number of places. The beauty is that at some higher reaches you get to see the entire mountain from its base to the top.
But in all of the above places, please plan to stay clear of Indochina border as that's a restricted area . So plan your visit accordingly.
The other side of Sikkim is another heaven on earth. BHUTAN. Don't get bogged down by the $200 per day fee for foreigners because I believe that includes your stay and food. YOU have to DO IT. It will move your soul. Do some research on it though. Paro is the town which has the airport. Instead of coming down to Thimphu you should go opposite towards Drukyeldzong where the road ends. There are some beautiful treks and many westerners have been doing these since long. Then on your way back you could visit the Tiger monastery perched on a cliff and people keep guessing how could they make one there. It's just a short trek though. Thereafter come and enjoy Thimphu the beautiful capital. People are so nice and warm. And you get to see some amazing wild animals on your treks. Although you will see them all along the Himalayas and the places I have mentioned above but as the population is so small in Bhutan , therefore you get to see so much more of them.
Further east of Bhutan is Arunachal Pradesh. Again beautiful , sparsely populated with tribals and raging rivers and steep mountains. Communications are a little poor and again you need to take clearance. Trekking to my knowledge for travellers has not yet been started. Although some travellers from the west have begun visiting this place. One thing to remember is that as you come from west in Ladakh & Kashmir towards east towards Sikkim & Bhutan the tree line changes and sone flora n fauna too.
I wish we had digital cameras or even these mobile cameras of today. Those days we rarely carried cameras as they were cumbersome but then our mission was different. But it remains etched in your heart and videos like these awaken all those beautiful memories.
But do remind people especially the city folks that if they really want to enjoy the beauty of nature then they need to toughen up and acclimatise for these high altitudes as else it can lead to serious medical conditions .
And yes. You don't need to do some long treks. Day long treks or overnight treks can take you to some amazing places too. And you could do these at a number of places too.
So keep on.! Natures akin to meditation. 👍
Thanks for the ideas!
Holy crap! What a beautiful place!!! Yeah the clouds were a bummer...but yet...they were beautiful too! One out of one donkeys agree :)
looks amazing!!!
Thank you! It is!
Great video
welcome Kyrgyzstan
How much have you paid for guide ?
Do you know if there are routes or trekking paths that you can take by yourself or with a group of fellow traveleres (so without doing it through a company like eco trek)? Or are there no markers to follow?
Thanks!
Most of this one had a trail, it was just the first few days that it would have been easy to get lost unless you're good at route finding with a map and compass :) It's the alakol lake trail.
Did you go with Ecotrek? How was it with them? Do you recommend them? I'm looking for a reliable tour company around Karakol =)
I did, though I think the guides could have been more professional, it was a good experience overall.
Thank you!
