I was a busser at the Cheesecake Factory and it was the WORST experience of my life. I had a manager that was going through a divorce that would pick random employee to just harass. It got so bad that I had to go to HR. She then tried to become my best friend and I just up and quit. Most toxic work environment I’ve ever been in.
Thanks for sharing!! Kinda felt the same way, that I was always picked on, or was being sucked up to. Not a fan of that environment either
it’s busy for me! but i find my personal experience amazing! people are like a family to me and my mangers are more understanding and fun to be with, maybe it’s the person in charge
I applied to be a busser at cheesecake I’m nervous af 😭
I use to work there and the people who came in were the worst but the money was good . The worst day I worked was a 4th of July. It was rainy and so everyone decided to come to the Cheesecake Factory. The cheesecake fridge was broken so they only severed cheesecakes Togo which were frozen and there was no whipped cream. Since everyone called off there was one baker who was also going togos and to make things easier for her they just served the top 4 cheesecakes. The amount of angry people that day. Then half the kitchen called off so ticket times were 40 min. No food runner and one bartender. There were 5 servers and we had 6 table sections. Also only one busser. It was a mess.
Interesting. A sunny 4th of July was our slowest. My worst day (and I was in dish that day), was when the hot water went out. Horrible day!
I totally agree with you…I’ve worked at corporate restaurant chains and mom and pop places and the mom and pop places by far are more my vibe. Regulars and chit chat with people is why I was in the service business.

I can relate to this even as a non extrovert when I’m with friends I’m very engaged and it can be exhausting when you give all your energy out. I find that being around people who allow me to sit back and be calm is so much healthier for me
I have always been a huge cheesecake factory fan and I often eat there alone. Your video has given me further insight because more than once I would go during lunch time (not super crowded) and the servers would take really long to get back to me (to get my order, get my drink, or get my bill etc). Which after watching your video, it seems its because the servers are just really busy with everything they have to do.There was even this one time where the server just disappeared for almost 30 minutes and never came to take my credit card so I had to actually get up from my seat and wander around the restaurant looking for my server. I had errands I had to run after eating so I couldn't wait any longer lol. I would have understood if I had a huge party with me but it was just me eating alone :( I was kind of upset and that affected the amount of tip I left for the server but I will be more understanding next time :D
Oh no! Sorry that happened, but I can definitely sympathize with the server that they probably had way more tables that they could handle. I would often get overwhelmed too, but still not an excuse to completely forget about you. Hope your next dining experience is better, cuz the food there is bomb and definitely worth being a regular for haha
Just ask the server to bring your check with your entree. And slip them a couple extra bucks if they do that.

I've worked there for 14 years as a server. I love it still to this day. It's not for everybody but for some it's EVERYTHING
I am a hostess at Cracker Barrel and I’ve been working there for 4 months now while going to college it’s a great place to work great food service and hospitality and employment discounts on food and things in the gift shop you should definitely consider applying for it I made so many friends there as well and found my love of my life there as well 😎 the staff and the mangers are nice too

i worked there for almost a year as a hostess and I was bullied constantly by my coworkers and my managers did nothing to stop it. I ended up switching locations only to be labeled as the new girl and the one that was gonna do everyone else's work. Like bitch you do it! I ended up quitting because I was so fed up with all the negativity.

Oh my God I loved your Story RANT about the cheesecake factory even though it was pretty negative I can't thank you enough because I'm about to start working there and I wanted to know what was I gonna expect, but if this is what it's like and this is what you experienced I'm gonna make sure i don't try to make life long friends there! Jacy, you are so smart, empathetic, and personable. And I believe that you could start your own restaurant and it would be a success. The customers would feel at ease and appreciated..., and the food would be top-notch, too.

I've never been to the Cheesecake Factory but I just looked up the prices in the Denver metro area and they're not that high. Only a few plates are over $20. I was expecting $30-$50 entrees the way people talk about that place. If you skip the alcohol and don't buy a whole cheesecake to take home, it doesn't set you back that much. The appetizers are reasonably priced too. I guess that's why people are willing to wait two hours to be seated.
I think that the Cheesecake Factory had its moment in 1992. That is about the time the chain opened a location in Atlanta's Buckhead district. At the time, it was the place to see and be seen. Have long moved away from there and live in Las Vegas. Have not been to the CCF in over a decade. It is a different clientele, the food is awful and not healthy. It's all ultra processed junk and they hate single diners. Used to go there somewhat frequently for a late lunch about 2:30 or so in the afternoon. Went in one day and the hostess asked me "Just one?" I hate that! My reply, was yes and she put me on a waiting list for a table. The seats at the bar were full, otherwise I would have sat there. People who came in long after me were seated and she finally said that "Single diners don't tip well at two tops". I thanked her and walked out the door never to return. As I got to my car a very apologetic manager came running out and offered me a free desert for my trouble. Told him thanks for the offer as I opened the door to my Porsche, and stated that since I was such a "cheap tipper" that they would not want my business. Oddly enough, I had a reputation as a generious tipper and always, always respectful to table staff in these type establishments. Have not been back since. Boca Park, Las Vegas Cheese Cake Factory in about 2013, oh, that was also at the height of the financial meltdown in Las Vegas to where few had $$$$$ to spend at restaurants. I did however.

the cakes are actually made in the bakery plant in rocky mount nc and calabasses California not the restaurant's. these are things cheesecake corporation does not tell you . working at the plants are even worse the you can imagine.
Yea the pictures thing is kinda annoying i got reported working at Applebee's just cause i was slammed with 8 tables & didnt have time to take a guests picture 😭 the next day i never came back
You should be a stand up comic or work on a cruise ship.....something hospitality / tourist related but fun! You're good at your stories haha.

Speaking of clean uniforms -- I was a bartender at a Mexican restaurant in the hey day of blended drinks. We were a busy bar and I had four blenders going along with mixed drinks. Blender drinks like strawberry margaritas are very messy. We wore tux shirts. The cuffs were ALWAYS getting dirty. Finally I just painted my cuffs with white acrylic paint. Problem solved!
Im currently work in the airline environment. And lately been working 13 hr days to get more money. Was thinking about getting a job at the cheesecake factory to get out of the airport environment and to get into something more upbeat to work a couple of nights to balance things out. Now im having second thoughts! 😂😂😂
I work there as a busser/dishwasher/ and line cook. The hours are horrible. Of course, when we are slow, what can they do? But when we're busy, hire more idiots and we lose hours. You'll get your fun nights, but enough is enough when your sleep schedule is messed with.

I just got re-hired (idk why the fuck i'd go back) and the server manager is already being an asshole to me. gonna re-quit before I even do my first shift. thank you for refreshing my memories of how horrible it is

It's easy to get into the CheeseCake Factory now. Every business is badly short staffed, no one wants to work anymore.
I bet! Most restaurants are desperate for servers, and Cheesecake is actually a great company to work for!

I barely started 2 months & agree!! I applied the bakery position & they are really short staffed since people are leaving or can't be available at certain times. Yesterday pushed me to my limit cause 2 coworkers who are known for not being a hard worker. They kept going on me for being behind when I can't do everything on my own like cleaning, doing ticket orders and filling up the cheesecakes. Now I'm looking for other jobs that I know won't be stressful & to get out of the food industry
people want to work, they just don’t want to be treated like dogs for pennies.

was told the place is one of the best companies to work for. start working as a host and there's no breaks unless you work a double shift but you get all the soup and bread you want during your shift... except still no breaks so you need to hork down that soup from a 20oz to go cup without burning your tongue or your coworkers/manager will give you shit. oh also your hours are "suggested" meaning if they want you to stay anywhere from ten minutes to an hour extra they totally can. and your coworkers are already friends with each other but only talk to you to blame you for shit they did and ask you to do things for them.

Side note I remember applying there and being told I needed 5-7 years of professional waitressing experience to start and other people telling me e even then, I wouldn't get it unless I knew someone. Like it's some type of super elite club. They pay $2.13+ tips get over yourselves.

@@Ellengsartchannel ... yes!!! Back in the day, they would give it to their kids as a cure-all for almost anything that troubled you. It has a bitter and nasty taste, similar to Cod Liver Oil--- yuck, yuck, and double yuck, but it was very nutritious.
And when we kids would occasionally act bad, sometimes instead of putting us on time out... they would make us swallow Castor oil or Cod Liver Oil. 😪😪😪😫😫😫😫😯😯😯

Micro Management is a huge American industry problem. It's a result of having a generational work force pool who doesn't have the same hard work values of that in which you would see in the 50's and earlier. People "bounce" from one job to another. No loyalty, "silent quiting" etc... and this is because wages suck and employers not only ask a lot of you for what they're paying you for but also demand full life time dedication to them. It's a vicious circle of two different worlds which never the two shall often meet and neither win.
And all of this is a result of "THE CONSUMER IS KING" American Economy. Which baffles me. You see, there are two types of people in this country... A Consumer or A Producer. You Can't be a consumer if you don't have money to .. consume things. :) If you look at the stats 95% of Americans live in the Producer rat race. 95% serving the 5%. Which mostly include not just the entitled wealthy people who never had to work a real job in their life but also the retired, medically challenged, laid off and yes us Rats who are still working who once in awhile get to treat ourselves to a weekend cheesecake factory dinner lol. But when you consider this... 95% of us are Producers.... shouldn't our economy be "The Producer is King?" They have the majority rule and they have the power. They are litterally the backbone of the American Economy and make life possible for EVERYONE.
So why are wages so low? The level of work/life balance so low. The experience of work is seldom enjoyable or satisfying.
And why, oh why can you brush and floss every day and yet still is always not enough when you visit the Dentist!!! Lmao I so agree!

Do not work there! If you think Jacy's experience is bad it can be 100xs worse. It's like being in a toxic relationship with a narcissist. If you must at least the uniform is no longer all white with a tie. Its all black without a tie. You no longer have to sing Happy Birthday and after Covid you don't have to box up food....you can give them boxes. I will say its a good place to come up from a lawsuit if you take guidance from a lawyer. I had plenty of opportunity for cases but would let too much time go by and not properly document incidents or have things in writing.
It's a pretty good job to me.
America does not respect its labor force. Some of these "entry level jobs" are so hard man. So hard and they pay nothing.

I've been trying to get a hold of corporate or hr but no one was trying to give me their number or contact info. I was wrongfully fired endnote told. Management was sexist, racist, and they play favorites.

Idk how long ago you worked there but I’ve been serving at CF for 4 months, it’s the 2nd busiest location in the nation.
I don’t resonate with any of your observations. My only real complaint is they try to cap your hours at 40/week so the most a server can make is like 40k-60k a year
the average salary in the states is like 30 something k and you’re complaining about 60k a year? talk about entitlement.

Cheesecake Factory sucks if your not passionate about it it’s not worth doing they don’t seem to care about there employees and kind of ignore you when something gets addressed I don’t recommend ever working here again the food may be the only good part about it but working there completely sucks

Thank you I appreciate the insight, I was about to start working there as a busser in hopes of becoming a server in the New Years, but I’m just a 22 y/o guy trying to make some money while I’m in flight school to become a pilot and I’m DEFINITELY not passionate about the restaurant industry I’m just doing it cause it’s the most money I can make at a job atm compared to some minimum wage retail job…. There was a Cheesecake Factory at the Menlo Park (NJ) Mall and, while most of the menu was of decent, Charlie Brown’s quality and variety, their weak point was the cheesecake. This is especially egregious for a restaurant in the NYMA, inviting comparisons with the legendary Lindy’s which any chain claiming expertise in cheesecakes would be sore pressed to meet.
Why I would hate to work at the Cheesecake Factory:

To be honest that place seems like a nightmare. And that dirty glasses story is traumatizing. And I'm sure lots of places do the same thing or worse when their dishwasher breaks...

@@JacyErin i was a cashier at my previous job and now im a baker and getting paid like 14.25. Which is low compared before and i doesn’t make sense to me bc bakers do a lot than hostess or cashiers and they get paid more. And they are putting me to work in counter without telling me or asking me first if i want to. I just want to be a baker for now bc i have social anxiety 😂 training was a pretty stressful ngl. I was overwhelmed on how many cheesecakes i need to memorize and how many dollops this cakes get, what design on the plate, what kind of plate should i use. People think cheesecake is a fancy place bc of the price. Yes it is but the pay isn’t. Sad to say. My ex coworker applied for diff location and she get paid 25 cents more which doesn’t make sense. Why dont they make it the same?

... forget the pay. What did she get in tips? I am willing to bet that the tips were great!!!
It paid minimum wage, but I don’t think I ever left a full shift with less than $150-$200 in tips. Then the base pay goes up if you become a section leader, a bartender, a shift lead, etc. so you make good money for sure!
